  • I remember Hal. Seems he learned this riff from mickey shortt from the band "mickey shortt and the cow patties". Hal went on to make his mark in music history by doing recording sessions with groups such as ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin (Going To California), and other major artists. It is rumored he actually came up with the riffs on such songs as "Legs", "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" and many other classic songs and played lead guitar for Deep Purple for a few years. YOU ROCK HAL!!!!! Move over Hendrix!!

  • Smoke on the water! my friend is a deep purple fan, me not so much do i do enjoy playing that riff.

  • Mmmmmmmmmm, Hello Dan

  • Hey Jeff...do you remember Hal from MDS ? He goes by "Jalopy" on the C.B. radio. He's never picked up a mandolin...but he managed "Smoke On The Water" real good, huh?

Happy Trails TTT..Hope all is well with you & your family.
