Perfect shot!!! Rico seemed scared in this fight tho...... He should believe in himself more. He could have gotten this guy out of there earlier if he fought with more confidence.
I think rico is surprised to see a boxer with the quality of shimoda with his hands down in front of him waiting to be knockedout, INCREDIBLE ...... Rigondeaux will finish him, Rico your gonna walk out with your first lost
I watched this fight and its actually one of my faveorite of this year. Even if it was luck. Which i dont think it was cuz you have to take in account that Shimoda had threw a lot of punches in earlier rounds and were startin to fatigue. Ricos just took advantage of that.
gano de chiripa por que de boxeo nada, se lo comia el japones, ahora si que tiene una pelea buena y dura con rigondeaux y a mi modo de ver rigondeaux se lo come en todo es muy superior a rico
You guys are stupid im friends with ramos!! Hes puerto rican /black and second thy have a video of him sparring riguendox and he wooped his ass and made him look bad !!!
@izzyboxing Hahahaha you must be Ramo's girlfriend dreaming, this guy is a C class fighter, Rigondeaux is the top, the cream,, for Ramos is going to be an honor, to get KOed by Rigondeaux in the first round, this guy is going against a two times olimpic gold medalist that he knows he can NOT beat, WBA is the one forcing this match, Ramos knows he is going to eat black cuban dick pretty soon, and he is scare.
@valdesh2001 How do you feel about Rigondeaux's chances against Nonito Donaire or Toshiaki Nishioka? Do you think Guillermo could get the job done against those two once he takes care of Ramos??
@Beewise357 what do you think if we let Rigo getting the floor full of blood's spots coming out of Rico's face and later wiping the floor down with any of those asian's faces. We all know they don't want to face Rigo.... But I'm sure would be a better fight than the one with Rico next 12/31/11
@valdesh2001 HOW THE HELL IS RIGONDEAUX THE TOP GUY IF HE ONLY HAS 8 FIGHTS? HE REMINDS ME OF AN MMA FIGHTER WITH ONLY 4 FIGHTS AND ALREADY BEING CONSIDERD THE BEST WAT AN EMBARESSMENT THE GUY WONT LAST LONG EVEN IF HE BEATS RAMOS N THATS A BIG IF
@TheFirefox309 600 amateur fights means nothing if you fight your neighbors in your village. But if you win every championship you participate... maybe means you have the kind of conditions that can't be taught. Anyway we'll see on friday what happens, but I really think they dont play in the same league.
@pinkapple07......thank you ...I watched this fight close many times ...and Rico wasnt losing like every thought he was ....he maintained his composure throughout the whole fight ......he was getting out worked but shimoda punches barely landed ....Rico shots was sharper and more effective...I had the fight pretty close ..
hey that wasn't luck if u watch closely rico landed a clean left hand and seconds later rico was planted....rico threw a good quick combination following with a strong left hook......ricos eyes weren't closed when he threw the left.....rico didn't throw the left hook with his head down in a scary retreating position....he threw it with confidence and landed it well!
@Mjolbaggar How was that a Lucky punch??? He was catching him with it throughout the fight and moments before the knockout. He just didn't throw it with any conviction. Akifumi Shimoda was the more active fighter, but he was wild it looks like he was trying to imitate Pacquiao.
@htv122 Ramos didnt win one round up to that point(round 6 maybe) and didnt have any gameplane to win rounds. He was just looking to land one punch. If hes gonna keep that belt very long he will need to come in with a plan.
@Mjolbaggar I never said he won a round. I said Ramos was catching him with that hook all night because Shimoda was wild and open, but Ramos was being outworked. Also I'm sure Ramos had a game plan, but he didn't execute it as well as he would have liked. He even admitted that he was nervous. Since it was his first championship fight I'm sure he'll fight better next time.
damn thats a glass chin. well cant blame it, it was pretty big punch for 122 lbs. ramos connected with the short left when shimoda was in its most vulnerable position: feets were in the air, chin to the side, hands low.
Shimoda didn't pace himself well in the first six rounds, and Rico hit the openings fatigue caused. This was a shocking end last night, but with a bit of distance, it seems like good strategy. Not that Ramos had a strategy or anything.
You motha fuckas still hatin.....Rico was nervous in the first couple of rounds.....he even said in the interview....he was never hurt or anything ....he was frustrated also.....and for people who are skeptics ...that's what champions do...they come back and win fights!!!
@lonelynytz That was not a lucky punch, he timed that left hand perfectly, landing a perfect knocked out. Plus Mayweather is a totally different fighter than Ramos. Mayweather would have been countering Shimoda the whole fight dominating him, stop hating.
beautiful left hook. I thought Shimoda had this bout. I wasn't impressed by Ramos last summer on Friday Night Fights where I think I saw him fight before.
