i want to eventually start lets playing, i love games, i think i am relatively funny sometimes, but i will most likely start doing it 2 or so years from now, because the house we live in doesn't really allow me to do it as freely as i would like to, but i also would like to play more games and built on my knowledge of certain games and play many more games before i start lets playing.

i'm only a novice LP'er but i think i have a good bit of advice (even if it might be harsh):
Wait until you voice is fully broken. Generally people don't like listening to people with higher-pitched voices, as it's obvious that a kid is doing the commentary. The natural instinct by someone older is to reject it and find someone with a better voice. So if your a kid and you want to start LP'ing, bear this in mind.
I was glad to hear that you are not done with Jealous Guy. Cause that channel really got me into your stuff. You are awesome. And your words are well received.
@kenshinpotatoe You can do what NCS did and record through you're VCR. I believe the old game systems go through the cable wire and van go into the VCR and out with red white yellow cables.
My recorded voice is ok, but it grates on the nerves at some point, and I found a game that only two lps have been made of it, and mine is pretty popular... now anyway :)

@RiegellaxlixErsaren Don't worry about the sound of your voice. If you just boot up a game, play it, and just talk, rib, joke, laugh, whatever, and have fun, you'll be fine. The voice itselt isn't nearly as important as what it's saying.

All the games I've been close to and have a connection to and I really want to LP them the problem is that I don't have a capture card. So now I'm stuck making LP's on retro games which is not bad but I would think it would look better to do those PS1 games from my childhood.

Yeah I did a blind Let's Play as my first. I didn't understand why it was bad when I came to a game like Epic Mickey, where I wanted to collect all the pins however it would've ended up with me standing around for hours looking for one pin, so I halted that and went through it once I was more familiar with the game.
However I did PokePark, without knowledge of the game, because at first I felt it as it would be spontaneous being surprised the by outcomes and such, and capture that special feel.
I was actually working on starting an LP of Mother 3 soon... Man, this was MUCH needed. I didn't think so much about the Catchphrases, but I can see how they'd be important.
Though you don't look like what you sound like, I still think that you look awesome. And I read you were smoke free since 4/7/09. Congratulations on quitting the nicotine sticks. I just wish I could get my family to do the same.
it looks like i'm going to LP gears of war 2. knows the campain inside and out. i played noting else but gears of war 2, for 2 weeks. if that isn't my first lp then it will be Destroy all humans 2 because i can always think of stuff to say, (now just need to firgue out which capture card to get).
And I won't lie, I have a habit of saying IN THE BATHROOM at work and I have a secret satisfaction in knowing that no one has an idea what I'm talking about.
hey I wanted to start LPing and I tried recording my TV screen with a camcorder and it got those annoying lines. Is there some way to get those to go away or to I have to record some other way? (Anyone can answer not just NCS)
@JimmytheNoob Get a capture card via online. Not sure if you can buy those in a store, but you might be able to (though I've never seen one). As for actually installing the capture card... I'm pretty much useless, heh.
Ya got something wrong in the video, Tim. slowbeef didn't start posting LPs on youtube, they were originally posted on the SA forums in 2006 and later spread on youtube. He still eventually uploads some stuff on here at random times which over a thousand subscribers watch.
There's also these memes like "A Ssssecret PASSAGE!" By HCBailey, and "TAKE THAT YA FU*K!" by Lancun. Man....people like Let's Players really make your day a great one, don't they?
I'm angry I just found this video now. But I completely agree with you. You need to resonate with your games, have some sort of connection more than just thinking it would be fun. That was your Secret of Mana, it's my Fable. It's where I used to run away to mentaly, go to get away from the real world. Good to know I'm not alone or crazy with this feeling, don't really talk about it with anyone around me.

Too many new LPers now creating forced memes of their own or "catchphrases" that aren't funny and that I don't really understand at all. You can make yourself unique and make an in-joke without repeating the same stuff over and over and forcing it into every situation ever. :/
Yet again I feel inspired by your words NCS. My problem is that I start LP's of games I have interest playing at the time and then I'll either lose interest in the game mid LP or I will have something go haywire with my recording equipment or something. This causes me me have many unfinished LPs that i should get to finish but don't. Do you have any advice about that NCS?
I have no idea why, but I chose to do a blind LP of Chrono Trigger as my first LP. It's kinda difficult, but I feel like my commentary is more spontanious that way. I'm 28 episodes strong, though! Thank you for the advice. You are a big reason why I started this LP.
My fave games growing up was always Legend of Zelda, Mario and FF. There were others like that comeilon game. Over HALF of these games I never bet either because of lost of interest or (being the age I was) It was too hard for me then.Looking back. . makes me want to complete them
Now if this had of been uploaded a year ago, i probably cudda made a better start as an LP'er.
I made the mistake of starting with a game that i did'nt particularly know or enjoy all too much (Resident Evil if your interested XD) but i kinda guess it was a good thing i had upload issues with it and that resulted me in not properly starting LP's until a few months later. I changed the game i wanted to do and now, i'm really enjoying making videos that at least 1 person enjoys :D
I'd have to agree it's much much easier to start with a game you're familiar with and (probably) have lots of childhood memories of. My first LP was Pokemon Yellow, and now I'm doing DKC2, which both came out during the first 10 years of my life, so I've been able to come up with all kinds of anecdotes and other things related to them. I don't really have any game planned for an LP that isn't that way for me, because I don't think I'd be able to talk as much about others, but you never know.
Well, I call my videos walkthroughs, even though I have commentary over them. Does that matter?

it looks like i'm going to LP gears of war 2. knows the campain inside and out. i played noting else but gears of war 2, for 2 weeks. if that isn't my first lp then it will be Destroy all humans 2 because i can always think of stuff to say, (now just need to firgue out which capture card to get).

another one i tend to use a lot in wind waker after i get the skull hammer is "BANNED!" or even "PERMABAN, BITCH!"

hey I wanted to start LPing and I tried recording my TV screen with a camcorder and it got those annoying lines. Is there some way to get those to go away or to I have to record some other way? (Anyone can answer not just NCS)

@JimmytheNoob Get a capture card via online. Not sure if you can buy those in a store, but you might be able to (though I've never seen one). As for actually installing the capture card... I'm pretty much useless, heh.

Ya got something wrong in the video, Tim. slowbeef didn't start posting LPs on youtube, they were originally posted on the SA forums in 2006 and later spread on youtube. He still eventually uploads some stuff on here at random times which over a thousand subscribers watch.

I'm angry I just found this video now. But I completely agree with you. You need to resonate with your games, have some sort of connection more than just thinking it would be fun. That was your Secret of Mana, it's my Fable. It's where I used to run away to mentaly, go to get away from the real world. Good to know I'm not alone or crazy with this feeling, don't really talk about it with anyone around me.

Too many new LPers now creating forced memes of their own or "catchphrases" that aren't funny and that I don't really understand at all. You can make yourself unique and make an in-joke without repeating the same stuff over and over and forcing it into every situation ever. :/

Yet again I feel inspired by your words NCS. My problem is that I start LP's of games I have interest playing at the time and then I'll either lose interest in the game mid LP or I will have something go haywire with my recording equipment or something. This causes me me have many unfinished LPs that i should get to finish but don't. Do you have any advice about that NCS?

I have no idea why, but I chose to do a blind LP of Chrono Trigger as my first LP. It's kinda difficult, but I feel like my commentary is more spontanious that way. I'm 28 episodes strong, though! Thank you for the advice. You are a big reason why I started this LP.

My fave games growing up was always Legend of Zelda, Mario and FF. There were others like that comeilon game. Over HALF of these games I never bet either because of lost of interest or (being the age I was) It was too hard for me then.Looking back. . makes me want to complete them

Now if this had of been uploaded a year ago, i probably cudda made a better start as an LP'er.
I made the mistake of starting with a game that i did'nt particularly know or enjoy all too much (Resident Evil if your interested XD) but i kinda guess it was a good thing i had upload issues with it and that resulted me in not properly starting LP's until a few months later. I changed the game i wanted to do and now, i'm really enjoying making videos that at least 1 person enjoys :D

I'd have to agree it's much much easier to start with a game you're familiar with and (probably) have lots of childhood memories of. My first LP was Pokemon Yellow, and now I'm doing DKC2, which both came out during the first 10 years of my life, so I've been able to come up with all kinds of anecdotes and other things related to them. I don't really have any game planned for an LP that isn't that way for me, because I don't think I'd be able to talk as much about others, but you never know.
