I've yet to see much of the L&H catalog of films, but this is one I watch time and again... And it may just be because I love this scene so much! Tremendously funny and rhythmic, two great bedfellows! =D
That is definitely Harpo Marx playing that song. Nobody has a harp style like his. Its either a record or Harpo decided to visit the set that day. No doubt about it.
i remember watchin these guys as a young boy and just crying with laughter and still to this day over 20+ years just as funny :D timeless! thank you Stan and Ollie :) xxx
Yes! The song is "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise" Thank you! I couldn't remember where I had heard it before...Les Paul and Mary Ford did a hipster version of it and I love it. But I never got the joke until reading your post. Thanx.
I've already commented on this but i just can't stop watching it! Stan really looks like he's playing it! And Ollies reactions are just priceless. It's a long time since i saw anything this funny. Stan and Ollie were pure comic genius!
The tune is called "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise" a popular twenties song. The irony is they're being shot at dawn. Fantastic scene. Check out some Harpo Marx stuff too.
The greatest comedy team of all time

I got this move on sale years ago and this scene is the one I always think about, even now for Laurel and Hardy themselves.
I wonder if that is someone playing a harp or a record?

If there's a better two and a half minutes of movie perfection than this, i've yet to see it. Total brilliance.

Between Harpo's harp playing and the little
pantomime skit that Stan does here? I'd rather watch Stan Laurel doing this beautiful
bit of comedic business in this scene from"The Flying
Deuces!".
