Madonna sings it as 'I gotchu.... under my skin' so it's very close to 'got Jew' anyway. Madonna certainly doesn't come close to singing 'I've got you... under my skin'.
I like this version by Regina. I hadn't heard it, or of it, until now. I think it's an underrated song and I'm glad to find that it's been covered in such a non-electronic way. I really like the musical accompaniment.
"Her lyrics are the most complicated i've ever.." doesn't that say it all. all artists sare different and bring something different to music, even the same song. I loved the orchestral arrangement in this version. I would bet that Regina had a hand in that. Madonna writes beautiful songs (Gone, I Want You, Borderline) thanks for posting. Would love to see video..
Obviously we all have different opinions. Some like Regina better because they feel like she has more soul.. like you can take apart her lyrics and learn a little bit about her every time. Other's feel that she's not that great of a singer.
Some feel that madonna is better cuz she's been through more, been more famous.
Personally I like regina better than madonna ... listening to lady sing the blues or blue lips feels more emotionally satisfying to me than 4 min to save the world.
Hey Jbarabasz, instead of coming to a marvelous musician's video of a cover and dissing her, why don't you crawl under the pop-garbage rock you came out from? Alright? Thanks.
You know what she is not a marvelous singer. You cant even call her a singer, All she really knows how to is make her voice make ridiculous sounds I ever heard.
You say she can't sing because she's actually singing. Her voice isn't covered by computer-generated pleasing sounds, so to you -- it may sound ridiculous, but not every singer has the perfect, smooth voice the pop stars today have. Thank you technology.
that's what she's all about. that's her own kin' of. if you don't like it... well, than it's allowed to say, that you ain't got any idea about music. it's her burlesque. madona is no way as good as regina spektor
Tell that to the two million people who saw her live last year. The asshole can't appreciate a striving artist covering a song, but in no way should you diss the Queen of Pop. That just makes YOU an unappreciative asshole as well.
The 'queen of pop' is just a marketing concept that brings money in her pornografic way to do music. music by regina spektor is from the sight of music lots of better than madonna.
Who the hell DOESN'T do it for the money? What's so wrong with enjoying your music and making money of it? I'm sure this bitch didn't walk into the bar for free. Now gtfo.
Jessie Evans, Namosh, Mrs Kraushaar etc.. it's not bad to do music and earn money through it but to do music because of money is like do music to feed warner bros with s**t! of course she didn't walk in without get paid, but for 2 hours she isn't as expensive as madonna for 5 minutes. why? cause madonna's managers (all the time it isn't against madonna, but against madonna's managers to make her do stuff like she's now doing) wants wo be fed with money and luxury, regina is doing it for herself.
She is Jewish, and this was sung at the Jewish Heritage Festival. Just some fun is all and her own witty spin on it. As you can hear the crowd got a real kick out of it :D
One of the things I think this shows about Regina is how she can can both simultaneously lighthearted and amusing and moving/though-provoking in the same song. She does it in so many of her own songs and it is just an amazing talent...
Is she saying, "I got Jew under my skin" at 2:08 and a few times after? It is the Jewish Festival in NYC and it would explain why the audience suddenly erupts in laughter at that point. I dont know for sure, but it certainly sounds like shes saying Jew at that particular part... Then again at 3:02 (and the audience laughs again)... Then switches back to "you."
@slicknick1986 Yeah. I've read on sites like songmeanings . net that even madonna intended it to sound like "Jew" because the song is about rejecting christianity and becoming jewish
I don't know Madonna is, and I've never heard this song before, but Regina's performance, even with this poor quality sound, is most impressive. But, then, what's new?
A pity no-one has posted film of this performance: given the audience's happy reaction and Regina's sense of humour, I'm sure it was most watchable.
This one just sounds so much more... real and... down to earth and... authentic. It's so beautiful. Madonna's sounds overly produced and weak as far as vocals are concerned... but I guess M isn't known for her amazing vocals, is she? I just love this so much more... especially the intro and ending... and instrumentals... and Reg's vocals... and the "I got you under my skin parts"... and everything. I wish I'd been there to see what was so funny.
i dont even see how anyone can say bjork even compares to her they may be similar but regina is much better.just plain and simple.Regina=freakin amazing, Bjork=just ok.get over it.
So she didnt get the words right, stuffed up in the second verse and shortens then exagurates, rips of a wannabe bjork and ruins a beautiful song.. :)
