  • MALISIMO, REGINA JUBILATE

  • sometimes when I listen to her voice i can hear her smile...

  • Regina you're adorable, a great voice...!

  • Madonna sings it as 'I gotchu.... under my skin' so it's very close to 'got Jew' anyway. Madonna certainly doesn't come close to singing 'I've got you... under my skin'.

I like this version by Regina. I hadn't heard it, or of it, until now. I think it's an underrated song and I'm glad to find that it's been covered in such a non-electronic way. I really like the musical accompaniment.

  • There's such a warm atmosphere in everything she sings.

  • @iluvchopsuey Definitely. This performance makes me feel like the world isn't such a scary place.

  • @Lilacuno Yes :) I'm glad you feel that way. I love how hopeful she makes me feel.

  • I think Regina's version is much better! Love her! :)

  • @Esgalduine Not even close, it is nice though.

  • Madonna's song

  • HAHA

  • god, i love her so much!!! she is so incredible!

  • ilove this version and more madonna versions...she write beautifol songs!

  • I've got a jew. under my skin.

    xD

    I love her! :D

  • i love the both versions of this song.

  • man i really wish we could see whats happening at 0:45 when everyone laughs

  • i agree!

  • Incredible miss spektor. As always.

    Beautiful powerhouse voice, incredible artist.

Some parts are like bjork, but she still hits and sings the Regina notes.

    Love it.

  • "Her lyrics are the most complicated i've ever.." doesn't that say it all. all artists sare different and bring something different to music, even the same song. I loved the orchestral arrangement in this version. I would bet that Regina had a hand in that. Madonna writes beautiful songs (Gone, I Want You, Borderline) thanks for posting. Would love to see video..

  • She sounds Bjork. lol

  • i so love her.

  • "ive got jew under my skin" hahaha

  • I love regina.

And personally, i think she sings much better live than in the studio...

Madonna smarter? i dont think so. You only have to listen to Regina's lyrics to hear the intelligence.

  • SHE'S A GENIUS IN EVERY SINGLE WAY

  • they are both great in different ways!

Obvs, Regina is a better musician and songwriter than Madonna.

Madonna is a better performer than Regina, and I would wager that she's quite a bit smarter, too.

  • do you honestly think madonna is smarter than regina?

    shes not smarter, just arrogant.

madonna is actually quite unintelligent if you Really listen to what shes saying and how she speaks.

  • smarter? I'd gladly take that bet!

  • find this quite good

  • i enjoy this more than i do the original song

  • Obviously we all have different opinions. Some like Regina better because they feel like she has more soul.. like you can take apart her lyrics and learn a little bit about her every time. Other's feel that she's not that great of a singer.

Some feel that madonna is better cuz she's been through more, been more famous.

Personally I like regina better than madonna ... listening to lady sing the blues or blue lips feels more emotionally satisfying to me than 4 min to save the world.

  • yesh, born in russia and raised by a jewish family.

  • Was she purpously saying it like "I got jew under my skin" to be funny?

  • Yep. (She is Jewish herself by the way.)

  • I don't think so.

Even though the official lyrics say "I got YOU under my skin", it sounds like "I got JEW under my skin" even in Madonna's version.

  • I Love it ¡ Really good actually...

    ...And I´m a Madonna´s fan

  • a different way to performence this song!

  • Hey Jbarabasz, instead of coming to a marvelous musician's video of a cover and dissing her, why don't you crawl under the pop-garbage rock you came out from? Alright? Thanks.

  • You say she can't sing because she's actually singing. Her voice isn't covered by computer-generated pleasing sounds, so to you -- it may sound ridiculous, but not every singer has the perfect, smooth voice the pop stars today have. Thank you technology.

  • that's what she's all about. that's her own kin' of. if you don't like it... well, than it's allowed to say, that you ain't got any idea about music. it's her burlesque. madona is no way as good as regina spektor

  • Tell that to the two million people who saw her live last year. The asshole can't appreciate a striving artist covering a song, but in no way should you diss the Queen of Pop. That just makes YOU an unappreciative asshole as well.

  • The 'queen of pop' is just a marketing concept that brings money in her pornografic way to do music. music by regina spektor is from the sight of music lots of better than madonna.

  • Who the hell DOESN'T do it for the money? What's so wrong with enjoying your music and making money of it? I'm sure this bitch didn't walk into the bar for free. Now gtfo.

  • Jessie Evans, Namosh, Mrs Kraushaar etc.. it's not bad to do music and earn money through it but to do music because of money is like do music to feed warner bros with s**t! of course she didn't walk in without get paid, but for 2 hours she isn't as expensive as madonna for 5 minutes. why? cause madonna's managers (all the time it isn't against madonna, but against madonna's managers to make her do stuff like she's now doing) wants wo be fed with money and luxury, regina is doing it for herself.

  • Wouldn't it be a perfect world if every musician was doing it only for the enjoyment of music?

  • it would, but in this capitalistic world it is quiete imposible.

  • If Madonna is so bad, why's Regina making a cover of it?

  • there are two oooh oooh oooh many options. LOL

  • hahaa shes so clever

  • She is Jewish, and this was sung at the Jewish Heritage Festival. Just some fun is all and her own witty spin on it. As you can hear the crowd got a real kick out of it :D

One of the things I think this shows about Regina is how she can can both simultaneously lighthearted and amusing and moving/though-provoking in the same song. She does it in so many of her own songs and it is just an amazing talent...

  • This. Exactly this. And one of the many reasons I adore this woman.

The fact that she offers both wisdom and levity in a single breath never fails to delight me/move me.

  • it's not stupid for one considering she's Jewish.

  • "i've got jew under my skin" hahaha

  • cool!

  • yeah exactly

  • I don't know but..Regina puts so much feeling I think this is much more lovely than Madonna

  • for sure, yaaa better i think too!!! ;-)

  • she makes sound Madonna's song horrible!

  • es verdad, la vuelve horrible

  • not at all! :)

  • What is the most complicated of the two??

I've been trying to figure that out forever.

  • gosh wonderfull.

this music is really nice in the version of madonna. but regina make a cover really amazing.

I really like the both artists.

Madonna is a diva and Regina is like a fairytale sing for a kid to sleep :)

  • Is she saying, "I got Jew under my skin" at 2:08 and a few times after? It is the Jewish Festival in NYC and it would explain why the audience suddenly erupts in laughter at that point. I dont know for sure, but it certainly sounds like shes saying Jew at that particular part... Then again at 3:02 (and the audience laughs again)... Then switches back to "you."

  • Yep, that's exactly what she does. :P

  • @slicknick1986 Yeah. I've read on sites like songmeanings . net that even madonna intended it to sound like "Jew" because the song is about rejecting christianity and becoming jewish

  • nice cover...

just like alanba said: not better, not worst..

    it's a interesting version ^^

  • i like madonna but.. hers is just another pop song. reginas cover is much more interesting.

  • thats horrible.

  • Violins and cellos make everything better--my goodness, what earth and soul are imbued.

  • This is one of my favorites from Madonna. It´s so cool Regina covered it.

    : )

  • I don't know Madonna is, and I've never heard this song before, but Regina's performance, even with this poor quality sound, is most impressive. But, then, what's new?

A pity no-one has posted film of this performance: given the audience's happy reaction and Regina's sense of humour, I'm sure it was most watchable.

  • i think madonna likes that cover!

  • i love regina, and i know i'll get slapped for this, but madonna's is better.

regina does absolutely giorgeous covers, but this is just not better than the original.

    respekt!

  • not a regina fan... and I like madonna a lot.

    but this cover sounds nice.

not better, not worst... just different.

and regina is great on piano.

  • This one just sounds so much more... real and... down to earth and... authentic. It's so beautiful. Madonna's sounds overly produced and weak as far as vocals are concerned... but I guess M isn't known for her amazing vocals, is she? I just love this so much more... especially the intro and ending... and instrumentals... and Reg's vocals... and the "I got you under my skin parts"... and everything. I wish I'd been there to see what was so funny.

  • This is so much better than Madonna's original. I can't get this version out of my head.

  • She's hilarious! This is awesome.

  • "pop sensibility"? What does that even mean?

  • No offence, but this is so much better than Madonnas version! But thats just my opinion.

  • i dont even see how anyone can say bjork even compares to her they may be similar but regina is much better.just plain and simple.Regina=freakin amazing, Bjork=just ok.get over it.

  • this is better than madonna's

  • much better than Madonna

  • Damn It!!!

Very strange version and beautiful and amazing cover for Regina!!!

    I love this version!!!!

    Thannks for Sharing :D

  • i got JEW under my skin, lol.

  • So she didnt get the words right, stuffed up in the second verse and shortens then exagurates, rips of a wannabe bjork and ruins a beautiful song.. :)

  • She obviously does a better job then madonna just deal with it w/o hating on her. Far better then bjork too.

  • lol exactly.

  • I love how she makes everything she sings her own. She leaves her mark on everything she touches and its fanatastic.

  • Shes such a beast. I like that this is kinda funky but still regina tastic. Regina=love.

  • this is better than madonna's

  • she makes it sound like she wrote and sang it originally. great madonna song.

  • Yes, she's nothing short of amazing.

    And you're welcome!
