  • MARTIN LUTHER KING IS A FALSE PROPHET DONT BE FOOLED YOU SO CALLED NEGROES MLK WAS PROPHESIED IN THE BIBLE READ JEREMIAH 23:25-32 AND DEUTERONOMY 13:1-5.... MLK IS A FALSE PROPHET MLK IS A FALSE PROPHET!!!!!

  • change it to HE was a drum major, duh

  • BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait to visit Washington DC to see it!

  • Why would the MLK memorial cost over a million dollars? Wasn't it Made In China because of the cheap labor? How ironic that Chinese slaves made the MLK memorial.

  • We would like to be there on Aug 28th but we can't. We live so far away, we can't wait to see the news about the celebration. We hope President Obama will be there, we're so proud of him and we know that Dr.Martin Luther king would be so proud of him. As we can see, President Obama has been facing so much hate ,especially from the right wing, they wanted to be sure that he never get the second term and of course they refuse to work with him. God Bless our President.

  • Beautiful. Inspiring. Strong.

    Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

  • Sadly it took this long for it to be made. Thanks to the African Americans for protesting, and Al Sharpton for getting this built. Without you all this would have never been built under this corrupt racist government. And thanks to Obama for making this Dream come true. I personally thank you, because I an African American stood outside for two days protesting this. Saw a few whites, but honestly thanking my people.

  • @Sarah Jefferson is FAR more important than MLK. The people are what made the civil rights movement, not MLK. BTW where is Susan B Anthony's monument.

  • Simply said this was unique and inspiring! Thanks!

  • Pope selected the shape of a rotunda for the building as a nod to Jefferson's affinity for that style of architecture. Jefferson himself, however, did not "design his own memorial."

  • Actually, Thomas Jefferson did not design his own memorial. The memorial building was designed by John Russell Pope in the mid 1930s. Construction began in 1939 and the building was completed in 1943. The statue of Jefferson was added in 1947. Pope chose a rotunda for the shape of the building. The rotunda (a round building often covered by a dome) was a shape that Jefferson used in his own architectural designs for the University of Virginia as well as his home in Virginia.

  • why* his*

  • as a person who lives in Dc I believe they should have been a memorial there to symbolize the march on the Mall he was a great man who deserves a great memorial Jefferson's memorial was just something for him to put up to look at himself so if anything is memorial shouldnt be up there Lincoln I can understand cuz he made an impact so did King LONG LIVE THE KING and now im done so ah

  • and I think it is EXACTLY what should be there to complete the National Malls scenary it's a great addition and I cannot wait to go there and to be able to take my kids n grandkids there so I don't care how much it would cost it should be there it should have been there YEARS ago and I know he would be proud ..so what u gonna say when they make the Obama Memorial he doesnt deserve it? cuz u know its coming and I can't wait for King and Obama to put some color on the Mall

  • if you people know anything about Dr. King you would know that he was never closed off and could never be potrayed that way like DrDemetriusPugh said he is showed like this because he was not afraid to be different and to stand alone and as far as them making it like the others were u ppl payin attention in history class jefferson designed is OWN memorial showing just how egotistical he was so way would they make King's memorial like his? gosh ppl could be so close-minded I think it's beautiful

  • Ummmm, Uh, 120 Million Dollars. Dang, that's like the Crystal Cathedral. How many people could we feed with that kind of money? Do you really think THIS is how HE would want resources used? Money borrowed from CHINA to do this.

Hey Failure, what about a Rap? Gee, almost sounds as if you are assuming those "Angels" singing must be white. Can't have that now, can we..... how inclusive. So civil.

  • @reminaya

money that did NOT come from the currupt government,... so don't try that line in here,.. take it to those millionairs and corporate people who don't wanna pay anything or give anything back to the people,.. and did YOU donate to this project ???

  • His Crossed arms portrays Stability and also the Will and Ability to not be moved, shaken or defered from his Dream. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Is an Alpha Man. Also do not mistake his determination for "aggression" If anyone knows anything about Alpha Men, that person would know that we are unafraid to step aside from the norm and be different. Someone has to be first or there will be no innovation, without innovation we have no progress. Without progress, WHERE WOULD WE BE?

  • I'll have to agree with fek2000. Why are his arms crossed? Such a stance doesn't show strength, it shows closedness and intimidation, and MLK wasn't about that at all. And why the unfinished carving? I don't understand why it needs to be so different from the other monuments: if we are to show how integral he was to our country's history, should we show him in the same sort of manner? Impressive, but open?

  • The tour leading to the statue is breathtakingly beautiful. The statue itself projects too much aggression with its crossed arms and dizzying height. There's but one picture of Dr. King with his arms crossed of the many known. In it he is reflective; not intimidating as he is here. When he was alive he almost never crossed his arms in public. Instead he often clasped his hands, raising one or both as if in prayer-coaxing out the best in all of us. This statue fails to convey his greatest hope

  • Amazing memorial for MLK! SO glad it is finally happening after all these years. (Maybe someone could make a better soundtrack to this presentation, though: Instead of the the angel voices, perhaps some of MLK's speeches with Motown in the background which was the soundtrack of those turbulent years...)
