This such a great song from a great album. Agreed, it didn't turn out to be his big break, but it opened doors. I saw him open for Alice Cooper when this was new and his NY radio hit was "You Should Be High Love".
I have always loved Tale of the Tape. If Brian May had actually had time to produce this and give it a little more star power it might have been looked at properly. Brian rarely calls 'em wrong and he was damned impressed with Billy. His writing always had a very melodic Lennon/McCartney feel to it. Capitol should have been collectively taken out and shot the way the whored ot there artists in the 80's...
BILLY IS FUCKING AWESOME I SEEN HIM IN A CLUB ON PC BEACH ON CREATURES OF HABIT TOUR EXTREMELY LOUD LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT THERES A GREAT INT WITH EDDIE TRUNK ON HIS WEB PAGE
Thank you for posting this! "Tale of the Tape" is a fantastic album. It might have been as big as "Don't Say No" had they released this song and "Who's your boyfriend" as the singles instead of "The big beat" and "You should be high love"
I had an EP in 1981 with 5 songs. This and "the big beat" are the only ones I remember. It was in a plain white paper sleeve and I think was a bar give away. I wore this track out. One of the best songs of all time. Any one else have one of those EP's?? Rock On!
@CuttingEdgeTrends a lot of these came out on "the tale of the tape", which i still consider billy's best solo stuff because it was so raw and unpolished but still grabbed you with its hooks and held on...
Wow, finally someone put the original/studio version on You Tube, LOVE this song (and much of Billy's early solo work) and have been waiting a while for this, THANK YOU. 8-)

big Billy fan for many years......found this song not too long ago, I LOVE IT!
Happened to name my daughter Kali 6 years ago, before I heard the song.
Apparently it was fate.
