  • Don't know how this was allowed in TED. This is not a children book at all.

  • :)interestin mkin meeeeeeee 2 tink....u chatted de way wid a grin ...well don..

    Mishti.

  • I would almost buy an ipad just so our child could read this guys books...

  • This is so dumb

  • Thanks a lot to Raghav KK.

  • watching him claiming to be an artist right after watching the Kate Hartman talk(where she claims to be a 'technologist') was refreshing. I didn't dislike her ideas, but I was amazed at the questions she was trying to raise and how she didn't come up with more relatable solutions... maybe she just needs some human perspective.

  • What an amazing idea.. teach em perspectives. got it. =)

  • lol an indian with communistic ideals, how bout you teach different perspectives on the jap mass rape and massacre, or the nazi holocaust

i guess the jap and iranian perspectives are an inconvenience

  • I like this. Thanks, Raghava KK and TED.

  • One of the best I've seen in Ted.... very impressed

  • Little kid me does not find those books or illustrations interesting. Pakistan? Who cares? If it's not an animal, a monster, a food, something to count, something to touch, or something I can use to torment my sister with, why the hell would I be interested in it?

  • woow, smart

  • That was the best 5 minute TEDtalks I've seen

  • Awesome! grateful for all you are and all you do,Raghava =) Keep shining!

  • I am so impressed by the effort you put in,loved the creativity and your ideas.

Interestingly,i use my Nokia e71 mobile to watch some youtube videos while in the washroom so saying ROFL would be a bit messy.

  • wow that was to the point and really amazing!!! thanks for sharing this with us!

  • wonderful inspiring ...so right

  • wonderfull !

  • Christian school, Hindu house, and Islamic neighborhood.....damn, that's multiculturalism for you XD

  • I think he is right. A way to teach people respect for other peoples perspective is to mess up their/our biased "truths" using creativity.

Creativity shows that truth is a very slippery concept!

    Wooo!

  • i love this talk a lot, his ideas are really good and i lyk the upbeat vibe of his talk-x

  • Fascinating, inspiring, brilliant! Thank you for doing what you do... finding newer, more innovative and fun ways of making this world a better place!

  • i'm not really a person that likes art but teaching perspective without bias through art seems one of the most beautiful ideas in this world

  • Fund it.

  • Whoa. I always think to be prepared for the awesomeness of TED talks, but they always, always surprise me. Raghava, your talk was brilliant, your argument very insightful and your art beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

  • Awesome TED talk. Starts as an artists talk, and then brings a powerful universal message. Lets shake some stories!

  • omfg the intro... so loud :C

  • Beautiful thought regarding perspectives and empathy. This is what I try to teach in bioethics and health care. I am traveling to your country in October and am looking forward to learning and seeing your perspective as well as sharing mine!! Cathy

  • Good work Raghava.

  • This guy is a lovely fellow

  • What a great idea for a children´s book ! Thanks for your creativity,

I will share this video, warm regards, Alice :)

  • TED intro sucks!

  • Thank you for your work, Raghava. If we all did what we believe is right to ourselves, others, and our planet, the world could change overnight! everyday there is more and more of us, we will make it! take the streets on October 15th, the world revolution for consciousness has started! yaaaay!!

  • "i promise to bias my child with multiple perspectives"

Or we could get rid of bias all together, and join together in a single perspective of logical rationality, devoid of the idiot mindset that magical gods and immortal ephemeral beings watch over us and control our lives. I guarantee that when people no longer believe in illogical dogmatic concepts of divine providence and sacred properties that we might have a world at peace, only growing stronger, together.

  • I wonder if we all could shake ourselves what kind of world we'd have

  • Thank you for the presentation!

  • This is amazing

  • Smart. Brilliant. We all need to have two year olds running around with iPads. Because that thick pop-up book, that if falls won't break, isn't good enough for a dumb ass 2 year old child. We need them to use iPads. Brilliant.

  • Well, this was unexpectedly brilliant.

  • I didn't much like most of the artwork presented, but the ideas on the other hand I really liked. Hope to see a few of these stories going viral!

  • 39 people don't like the idea of teaching their kids that homosexual couples are okay.

  • Some of those bastards were shot down with a machine gun... hehehe...

  • Hi Raghava, Thank You for your efforts! You may Google "Empathy: The Brand Equity of Retail" for the HBS Working Knowledge article which might be of value to you. I also have a comment on it. Best! Shakti Saran

  • I think it's great and hope you can implement it well without your own bias. I'm not sure how children will deal with confronting political problems. I hope this can be done in a fun, multi-perspective unbias way. The key here is not necessarily understanding of all the sides fully but giving a fun insight into thinking broadly.

This will only be useful for parents who want their child to be broad minded, if they talk to their parents about ideas presented, parents will place their own bias.

  • so happy to see Raghava back at TED

  • Excellent talk.

I think that your ideas are fantastic, however, your pictures for the children's book kind of scares me.

  • I'm unable to follow the artistic style in the book.

  • lol I was listening to this video and looking at something else, I totally thought the speaker was a woman

  • the finishing line is wonderful!

  • Shake it and you get Italy Perspective

Drop It And you will see your own perspective RAGE.. XD

  • this guy doesn't have identity.. one must be proud of his/her religion/idealism and NOT follow other's aimlessly or carelessly.

  • @Kongolox you probably have no idea of how rich religious diversity can be... I suggest you come visit India some time.... The goodness of every religion is appreciated and adopted by other religions.... I'm sure you need to have a look... If your channel gives your location right, I bet you'd have no idea....

  • @satyu131089 i do have idea about india religious diversities, but a religion addopting another? well idont know about that.. and it doesnt sound for any religion. :)

  • @Kongolox that's called communal harmony, as opposed to religious conversion or submission... religion is something that unites people and gives them a reason to celebrate together during joyous times, stand together during crisis.... religion is a way of life that you choose to follow and need not be the same one that your you inherit through ancestors...

  • Comment removed

  • @Kongolox It is a matter of maturity that tells between viewing other religions as counter-forces to yours or as another equally good way of life....

  • @satyu131089 i did not say that! or even imply to "counter-force"... i simply think that the follower of a religion shouldnt particpate others religion "activities" (or whatever u like to name it) for no good reason...

  • @Kongolox You can feel the difference only in India.... And the good reasons that you ask for are friendship and mutual respect...

  • @satyu131089 i understand learning and respect your friends religion IS a good thing, but it doesnt mean to do/share their religious activity..! i guess it ok to share the joy when the celebrate their religious events, but thats about it.

  • @Kongolox Ha ha! Why follow? Let's be proud of our identity AND our empathy.

  • me and my friends always joke about each others race! we say be racist equally, i'm asain in a white community and have multicultural friends (CANADA WOOT) and we joke about each others race all the time INCLUDING our own, we love each other do death!

    THUMBS UP!?

  • @MrKennyloveslife What you say is both right and good and needs to be heard. But you asked for thumbs up, so none from me, sorry :)

  • Comment removed

  • i dn't see anything wrong with him! i think he's amazing people are just egotistic! he's speaking the truth!

  • hooray for everything!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeeeeeeeeeah!

  • virtual perspectives are a far cry from real life experiences ...so too are books from concrete real experiences 1st ...just a thought

  • his message was solid, how he got there....not so much

  • this guy's really smart

  • He's absolutely right. Psychedelics can also offer new and enlightening perspectives.

  • Just awesome. . .

  • Claytronics

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

    Thank you!!!!

  • lol I love this guy!!!

  • great

  • One step closer to utopia, putting ourselves in other's shoes.

  • @ChrisRokers

THANKS FOR THE NEW WORD " utopia " :)

  • Intro and outro are fine, is the main talk what is low.

  • skip first 10 seconds for all TED videos whoever has any complain about loud intro.

  • Ya! I noticed the two male parents in the beginning!

  • well done!

  • idea but once the propagandists get into it, it could lead to even more bullshit filling our heads.

  • Is this the reason why Barney's song has subliminal lyrics??

  • He makes sense.

  • i've always thought highly of the significance of perspectives.

  • @raghavakk Awesome TED talk. Keep up the inspiring artwork :D

  • Thank you all for the fabulous support! It means a lot to me. I work in isolation and for my idea to have so many resonating souls means the world to me. Please spread the message of perspectives and empathy. Tell YOUR story too! I also really appreciate the constructive criticism/feedback. I am reading and listening to all your views. Thank you once again. Warmly, Raghava KK

  • @raghavakk You are such a dork. Please dude READ! Whn you make a broad statement like Hindu's are killing Muslims, grow some balls (unlikely) & tell the other side as well. Again, read up on Babri Masjid & "shake up" your ignorant soul.

  • @AlphaCentauri24 If you actually listened to the story, he was recounting what his young Muslim neighbor said to him.

  • @AlphaCentauri24

You actually missed the point of this video. It's still good! you didn't fake it.

  • @raghavakk That was wonderful! Also: Inspiring, Ingenious, and Funny. Will you be speaking at any other conferences in the near future?

  • @raghavakk hehehe, that was nice. "Bias my child with multiple perspectives." I guess it is impossible for someone to look at something without their own perspective. That's why I really do like your idea about a history book that gives the perspective of each of the countries involved. That way it leaves it up to the interpretation of the child to discern the truth. I think it would really helps their mind grow. I wish you much luck in raising a happy, healthy child.

  • @raghavakk Great idea, Raghava! I agree with you about multiple perspectives. That's how one can think and become more comprehensive and tolerant. And I must say your illustrations are beautiful! :)

  • @raghavakk

    Fascinating talk!

Thank you very much and all the best wishes from Germany!

  • @raghavakk thank you.. seeing things from multiple perspectives, is a very important ability, only few have nowadays.

I agree, that you cannot start early enough to teach that.

  • Any idea about the artwork at 1:42 ? I'd love to find it if anyone knows the name?

  • Ted is run by smart people. They know the intro is louder than usual.

It causes the 'ah ha' moment making viewers more alert for the video.

I too complained, but somewhere after 400 hundred videos you should be able to expect it..

  • @dylanlawless1

What happens is they lose their audience. Their clips are good but I'm losing interest. Much more exciting for me is finding really original material on the web.

  • @patrickcorliss

I have the exact same feeling about it. Can't find enough of inspiring stuff on the internet. What things did you come across lately?

…I found "lytro" or "yellowbird" and can't wait to use it one day.

  • @jiopjiop

There’s a song called “She’s Too Good for Everyone” which is great fun.

A more serious topic is in a set of eight by Albert Bartlett called “The Most Important Video You’ll Ever See”. It’s had over 3 million views and is well worth watching.

If you want something seriously weird search YouTube for Claytronics. There’s a Discovery Channel feature which will blow your mind.

My favourite subscriptions are The Young Turks for progressive views and Gizmag for new technology.

  • @patrickcorliss

Finally got the chance to see you stuff. Really nice. Thanks for that!!

here's some stuff I came across lately:

A bunch of nice optical illusions by "brusspup" (Youtube).

User "poietic" (vimeo) has some beautiful ideas.

Video "12825278" and "25076865" (also vimeo).

The channel "newwaysofinteraction" (vimeo) gathered some nice innovations on technology...

A little older but still like it: Cinnamon Chasers - Luv Deluxe (Music Video)

That's it for now. Hope you like it.

  • @patrickcorliss thanks for letting me know

  • Wonderful.

  • that is awesome

  • vedding lol

  • If Egon Schiele made a children's book...

  • amazing !!

  • As a producer of children's mobile content and a parent myself, I am very unimpressed by the quality of his art and the message in his art itself.

Who says that children art should reflect reality? Why would you want to feed your kids the same thing you see on the news? They will get there soon enough, no need to hurry them along....

  • @elkapalkaproduction so theyre not similair to the masses of children and young adults that know near 0 about serious world issues and can formulate a opinion with depth rather then propogandized and singular point of views.

  • @elkapalkaproduction there's also no need to feed them lies or like he said, biased perspectives...i think it requires a certain balance. i would guess that children who know about the real world and different perspectives would grow up to be more open with the world, and isn't that a good thing?

  • Am I the only one that doesn't think the outro or intro is loud?

  • very nice, the drawings can be a little creepy though :P

  • Latest art project! it is a book on the ipad... Skipped!

  • @Boehoehuahoei did you skip the whole video because of that? Because you seriously missed out on the meaning of it then.

  • For the billionth fucking time, if the intro is too loud, TURN YOUR SPEAKERS DOWN! How fucking retarded are you all?!

  • A bit much..

  • Comment removed

  • Interesting idea.

A good school assignment would be for students to write essays from the points of view of *each* side to a conflict/war/disagreement/debate.

  • @rackslap I don't have the same issue with the outro and intro, seems about the same volume as the talks

  • interesting

  • BRILLIANT... there is NOTHING more important than the lesson of perspectives...

  • thank you for using your creativity for such use, hopefully it will open up the minds of some of the next generation.

  • Excellent! Thumbs Way up!

  • yawn....

  • Excellent idea, excellent presentation, just excellent overall...

  • Good talk. Let them hear it. It's a global village now.

  • seems like a really cool guy. With a cool story :D

  • President Perry will leave nothing but a skid mark where this pro-homo artist once stood.

  • @plaubel28 Hater.

  • @plaubel28 That's all you got from the video?

  • @blockthisuser it's sad when scumbags like you try to use the tactics of righteous people. The funny thing about it is that you scbags will never get it, so I'm not worried...

  • @WyldOrbit Your comment towards the "scumbag" blockthisuser was a reciprocation of the negativity they projected. Do you think you got through to them?

  • This is the right way

  • I would have nightmares with an art like that. The draws scares the shit out of me.

  • troubled scary ilustrations made by this guy really show that he was trough unstable times as a child. Now he want to promote homosexual mariages and raising children. GOOD WAY BRO!

  • @blockthisuser He was encouraging empathy and different perspectives, and homosexuality is a current issue. He was trying to stop you from that comment. From my perspective, I doubt he would mind if you didn't agree with homosexuality. He might however be disappointed that you hadn't tried to grasp onto the magnificence that is empathy. If we have empathy for each other and learn to see that homosexuals are still humans, struggling humans, then perhaps an understanding could be reached.

  • This guy must be an awesome dad

  • Wha? What was this about?

  • inspiring, i guess the negative comments come from people who don't want peace and understanding between cultures. who's that huh?

  • I wish I had more perspective growing up, maybe I'd find empathy easier then. Loved the video and art. :)

  • Cute.

  • Perspectives AND worldviews are absolutely critical in understanding who you even are. If you can't answer "Who am I?" you're in trouble.

  • @DeltaCommando52 how can we label each other something when we are changing every second of every day?

i am no number or word i am flash blood and bone to define me as anything else is lies and deceit.

only real thing in this world is the rules put down on paper know the law to know the rules of the game.

  • Intro/outro is fine, turn up the speech!

  • The intro... Turn it down.

    That is all.

  • FUCK YOU TED FOR SUCH LOUD INTRO AND OUTRO! You're damaging my ears, why don't you listen to your subscribers and lower the volume?!!! You're either stubborn, don't read the comments or you actually want your audience deafened.

  • Intro music isn't even loud anymore, you guys need to turn your volume down.

  • @rackslap

I suspect they have some sort of automatic system. Someone edits the talk, and sends it through a program that wraps intro and outro/advertisment and uploads it.

  • @rackslap Lower your volumes! I have perfect pitch, so very sensitive to sound, my solution to all listening sessions?

Actual volume on PC, set constantly at 50% then watching YT, about 20% if the volume on the video is too low, I up the video volume done. OK. does that help, because a lot of people do not know where normal volume is supposed to be :)

p.s. cool presentation, terse and lucid.

  • @rackslap the volume control might help-

  • @rackslap dude, you can always skip those parts, you know >.< just watch the videos

  • @rackslap If that part of the video is loud enough to damage your ears, the rest is too. Turn it down yourself..

  • @rackslap they don't read the comments dude

  • useless and stupid. children should do more interesting and engaging things than playing with ipads.

btw, why give apple more money for overpriced gadgets?

here, small child, have another portion of wifi radiation if your brain isn't damaged enough...

  • @KilluaXIII This was not the message of the video. The important thing is not iPad here.

  • @KilluaXIII And obviously your brain has been damaged from watching far too many animes and mangas...

If you don't have a child, don't tell others how to bring up their own. This guy does a fine job with that.

  • @KilluaXIII You missed the point entirely omg

  • past*

  • did you watch bast 30 seconds?

  • Cute but unintresting.

  • great :-)
