But I love the sound of Marsh's voice in this one.This is not as emotional as on the other one either but everyone joins in the worship more in this one. Marsh looks so much different here. I almost didn't recognize him. Seeing Anthony at the piano makes me miss him so much. Gordon is doing a great job, but he's not Anthony. I really hope that Guy finds his way back to the GVB soon. Not only did I enjoy his voice, but I could always see the spirit of our Lord in him.
One of the very best renditions of this song..I love hit!! David Phelps has a voice only God Himself could have given to him. I love the voices of all of those and it breaks my heart to see them all going separate ways. I am blessed beyond measure when I hear this song.

@hoover4000 guy is so majorly talented and his vocal range goes both up and down so far that i think he also would make a pretty good bass. all thoe... its a shame to use his amazing voice for a bass.
@hoover4000 well, I heard David sing pretty deep on his song "Moonlight" on his album "The Voice" check it out if you haven't heard it. True he wouldn't really be a bass, but to sing so high and to sing where he did in that song shows his TREMENDOUS and almost inhuman range! He was pretty deep on there...

I totally agree with the poster who said something about photos of Jesus being depicted as having long hair. That person is so right on. Unless I'm mistaken, every photo, drawing, movie about Him has shown Him with long hair. I don't understand the difference here?
It has been more years than I can count since I was moved to tears by a song. I've been away from the church for so long and still trying to figure it all out. Since I discoverd Guy and the rest of GVB I can't tell you how much I have been feeling the power of God. All of the discussion about hair and comparing these wonderful men and their talents is simply foolish. For someone like me just wanting to make it back, I can't understand why people can't just see how blessed it ALL is.

How bout Marshall Hall and David Phelps sound pretty dang good together. I wish they could sing in the Vocal Band together. Maybe Marshall and Mark Lowry could bring out the baritone part more, along with David hit the high parts and of course can't leave out Guy and Bill. Now THAT would be awesome. Just because God does not want us to destroy our temple, it does not mean He cares what we look like. He cares how we take care of our body. In Samuel (16:7) it says that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. Since there is obviously disagreeance about the hair, James 4:17 says that to him that knoweth to do good, but doesn't, its a sin. Since Guy is a Christian, even if it is a sin, I doubt he realizes it and the Lord will look past that ignorance.
I do not think that G-d looks at Guy Penrod as less of a christian because he has long hair. His message rings clear that he loves the Lord with all his heart and as according to Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
You know what? I LOVE David Phelps and I always have... then I fell in love with guy's voice... and now... MARSH IS SOOOOO GOOD! haha what a great group of voices!
Some people should never be compared. Guy, Marshall, David and others. Each brings different component to the delivery. I wouldn't like it, if in order to listen to David, I couldn't listen to Marshall or Guy. David is tremendous, but Guy has his own power & passion; Marshall brings a sweetness & richness all his own to the stage. Some always want to compare & view things in a competitive way. Competition isn't God's way. Being a good team where everyone gives their personal best is His Way.

God let me know that it's inappropriate for me to have long hair. I've been waiting for God to tell me about Guy's hair, but so far God still isn't tattling to me about others' walk with Him. I love thing song and this version. As a Christian I cannot understand the issue with Guy's length of hair, really. I'm sure it would bother him to see a discussion started about his person. His appearance is a personal thing even if he is a well-known singer. I have no idea about either the personality or the beliefs of Mr. Penrod but I am sure that he would change things about his appearance if that disturbed him in his faith. Mr. Penrod probably knows best what to do with his hair.
I totally agree. I also asked my dad what his beliefs are since he is a pastor, and he said he thinks its OK. He also pointed out that part of that is understanding the culture of that day. The also believed in sacrificing livestock in that day, do you do that since its in the Bible?

Does it have to say it's a sin for you to know that it is? Come on, it's the Word of God telling us it is a shame for a man to have long hair. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out!
it also doesn't take a genius to clearly see guy penrod is a Godly man, the lord is working through him, long hair and all. I think what God really cares about is whats in our hearts, and I think he'd want all of us to care about the same thing too. So despite weather he has long hair or not, God directly goes from his lips into my heart. He isn't afraid to lift his hands towards heaven, and he's a great man and a wonderful father. That's whats important, not something as superficial as hair.
I'm not saying he isn't a great person and that he is afraid to lift his hands. I can clearly see that. And I know that God has blessed with him with a wonderful talent for singing, but we have to live our lives according to the Word of God and that, my friend, is not superficial!
I dont mean any disrespect, I just think people really need to "lighten up" on things like that so to speak. Thats not what people should be concentrated on. If God was so disspointed or angry about guy having long hair, I find it hard to believe guy would still have God flowing through him like he does. Also, back in jesus day people also believed women should cover their hair out of respect, but you dont see very many people doing that now a days do you.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful either. The bible says that a womans hair was given to her for her covering. I'm sure God is not happy about Guy believing in the trinity. That in not ANYWHERE in the bible.
But the thing is it's not anyone elses job to decide weather God is happy with guy or not, in my personal opinion I am positive
he is. If God sees it as a sin, he will convict guy about it. Just let God and guy deal with that, in the meantime, concentrate on the music, the spirit, which is what you should be concentrating on and simmer down about the length of his hair.

I don't even know how to list favorites. But you know what, I love the Gaither Vocal Band and listen to them quite a bit but that doesn't mean I agree with the hair thing. There are lots of "christian" singers that I don't agree with the way they live but they have wonderful voices.
Being a Christian in this day and time is hard enough. I have been a christian for many years and I can tell you that I don't see anything wrong with Guy's hair being long.
If it was hair that took you to Heaven, there would be alot of people not go. What if a lady was bald but she was the best christian in the world, I guess she would not get to go because apparently she was not covered. Right? I have researched the "hair thing" and it is Jesus that is our spiritual covering and when we don't serve HIm as we should, we discard our covering. Our hair is not what gets us there, its our walk with Christ.

I do not think that G-d looks at Guy Penrod as less of a christian because he has long hair. His message rings clear that he loves the Lord with all his heart and as according to Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Some people should never be compared. Guy, Marshall, David and others. Each brings different component to the delivery. I wouldn't like it, if in order to listen to David, I couldn't listen to Marshall or Guy. David is tremendous, but Guy has his own power & passion; Marshall brings a sweetness & richness all his own to the stage. Some always want to compare & view things in a competitive way. Competition isn't God's way. Being a good team where everyone gives their personal best is His Way.

The hair thing...
God let me know that it's inappropriate for me to have long hair. I've been waiting for God to tell me about Guy's hair, but so far God still isn't tattling to me about others' walk with Him. It's almost like God wants me to concentrate on my own relationship with Him and let others worry about their relationship with God -- go figure.

I love thing song and this version. As a Christian I cannot understand the issue with Guy's length of hair, really. I'm sure it would bother him to see a discussion started about his person. His appearance is a personal thing even if he is a well-known singer. I have no idea about either the personality or the beliefs of Mr. Penrod but I am sure that he would change things about his appearance if that disturbed him in his faith. Mr. Penrod probably knows best what to do with his hair.

I totally agree. I also asked my dad what his beliefs are since he is a pastor, and he said he thinks its OK. He also pointed out that part of that is understanding the culture of that day. The also believed in sacrificing livestock in that day, do you do that since its in the Bible?
There is also the verse, "Judge not, lest you be judged." Sorry I don't have the reference for it.

they sacrificed that because there had to be some kind of shedding of blood and when Jesus sacrificed his life which was the perfect sacrifice, now we dont have to kill animals nomore..get it?..in the old test. Moses said let them give a writing of divorce, and many ppl today think thats okay and they can live in adultry, but its not..only reason moses said that b/c there was so many women being stoned...but see they were under the law then..but now since Jesus came we live by what he says

it also doesn't take a genius to clearly see guy penrod is a Godly man, the lord is working through him, long hair and all. I think what God really cares about is whats in our hearts, and I think he'd want all of us to care about the same thing too. So despite weather he has long hair or not, God directly goes from his lips into my heart. He isn't afraid to lift his hands towards heaven, and he's a great man and a wonderful father. That's whats important, not something as superficial as hair.

I dont mean any disrespect, I just think people really need to "lighten up" on things like that so to speak. Thats not what people should be concentrated on. If God was so disspointed or angry about guy having long hair, I find it hard to believe guy would still have God flowing through him like he does. Also, back in jesus day people also believed women should cover their hair out of respect, but you dont see very many people doing that now a days do you.

But the thing is it's not anyone elses job to decide weather God is happy with guy or not, in my personal opinion I am positive
he is. If God sees it as a sin, he will convict guy about it. Just let God and guy deal with that, in the meantime, concentrate on the music, the spirit, which is what you should be concentrating on and simmer down about the length of his hair.

I don't even know how to list favorites. But you know what, I love the Gaither Vocal Band and listen to them quite a bit but that doesn't mean I agree with the hair thing. There are lots of "christian" singers that I don't agree with the way they live but they have wonderful voices.

If it was hair that took you to Heaven, there would be alot of people not go. What if a lady was bald but she was the best christian in the world, I guess she would not get to go because apparently she was not covered. Right? I have researched the "hair thing" and it is Jesus that is our spiritual covering and when we don't serve HIm as we should, we discard our covering. Our hair is not what gets us there, its our walk with Christ.

I go to Gospel Ministries Center and my pastor is Pastor Kelly Starnes. Him and his family have been friends of my family for years, my grandma used to babysit him when he was only 10 years old.
