@lukalindh Apparently (Wikipedia says) that a physics teacher first demonstrated on TV. As the MythBusters proved, the reaction is caused (primarily at least, I haven't seen the whole episode :D) by the surface. I am sure some bored guy looked at a mentos under magnification and said... "what if...?"

Why am I telling you all this stuff you probably don't care to know? Because I think he deserves the Emmy too :3.

yeh diet coke and mint mentos has that reaction " explode thing.. or if u close the bottle it will make the explode thing. if u not close.. the coke will just do what it did in this video

nice! just as a quick FYI: same trick does not have the same effect over in Europe, or at least in Bulgaria where we tested it with what we thought were the exact same ingredients but got just about no blast. We've concluded that either the diet coke we used was diluted or else our Mentos may've been flawed.
