I don't know the ins and outs of the relationship webs of this band like some might, but I do know I'm a fan of the band, and that they didn't really ROCK until Molland joined it. And, when he left, they tried to put out an album called HEAD FIRST that had potential, but was missing something...and that something was Molland's rock and roll instincts.
@Beanziebopper - FYI - and notwithstanding Joey's great songs, this rocker was conceived and recorded originally BEFORE Joey joined. Also, they had Midnight Sun and Sali Bloo with The Iveys. If anything they rocked TOO MUCH with Molland, as they did endless 50s R&Roll covers live with him.
Love the lead guitar intro by Pete Ham. Interesting that Joey Molland plays guitar solo here, whereas Ham performed it on the record. Very democratic band.
Benayrunyon. You are spot on. Badfinger got royally screwed over. Hope the worst for Stan the gay man, oops. He's not a man, he's a big time scum bag thief. RIP. Pete Ham, Tom Evans & Mike Gibbins. At least their songs are still with us.
You are probably right! Stan Polley was truly a "Soulless Bastard"! May his children for generations reap the folly of his ruthless betrayal of the soft hearted trusting genius of Pet Ham, The awesome vocal harmonies of Tom Evens, the slamming drums of Mike Gibbins and the Badfinger legacy that continues with the smile provoking personality of Joey Molland.
Stan Polley doesnt get anything from Badfinger. It is because Molland is still with us there is no movie . He played a large part in Tom Evans death - Tom was a fragile soul and Molland was claiming a share of Ham & Evans song royalties. After a phone argument with Molland Tom went outside and the rest is history. Molland then overdubbed a Badfinger concert that went to cd and tried to keep the band royalties to himself . Molland is a shite basically . A second rate Stan Polley.
Marianne said that Tommy had been telling her that he was going to commit suicide. The thing about it is that we often do not believe the person when he or she says that it will be done.Tommy had been suffering from depression for years and with all of the stress from his money problems caused by Polley and Pete's suicide he was very fragile
That was a traumatic experience and he definitely suffered from that.He looked for ways to cope and began to abuse alcohol. He was a very troubled soul but he was loved very dearly.I wish he was here to see that.
That salary for Polley probably increased and I'll have you know that there was a paper trail that sold off at auction in 2004 in Texas that showed an approximate $600,000 that is Badfinger 's missing funds that went presumably right into Stan's pockets
This just HAS to be a song dedicated to that scumbag Stan Polley - "guess you think it's funny that you're taking all my money - but I don't". In fact, fuck it.. where's that rope, I'm out of here.
And if they had hung Polley instead? 10 years, reduced to five, eventually overturned, two years in jail and lots of Badfinger albums.
Yes.............!!!!!!!!!! This IS great GREAT Rock Music......Right up there with Zepplin's Rock n' Roll Music and Steveie ray's Scuttle Buttin. Badfinger and Patrick Hitchcock ...TTHHAANNKKYYOOU!!!

Badfinger really deserves to be heard again! In terms of power pop they were as equally good as other critically-revered names like Big Star!

Why is there not a Badfinger movie? Two words: Stan Polley. No one wants that Soulless Bastard to get anything from the movie.
