I totally agree with you about the way people run...I have been working with shoes this year that do not have a heel and that has completely changed how I walk and shifted the tension in my entire body...

i think i know why most people who run get knee pain is simply because they dont know how to run properly. this might sound strange but its true. if you strike your heel all of the impact will go though your knees and ankle and hip. i dont think your quite right about the muscles though. when i was getting pain in my knee i stretched my it band and gluts most of the pain went away instantly. i have Joint hypermobility syndrome and am very interested in strengthening my ligaments.
