  • how is called this instrument

  • Hey Fred you felt it as you played it and you shared it the way it should be shared, Great job! Peace

  • Thanks! Very nice description on how to share music that comes from the heart!

  • how long did it take you to learn this instrument. I also bought one and still waiting for it to be delivered at my home. It says it has a 4 weeks delivery time thing.

  • Beautiful

  • Nice! Sounds sort of like a "military march". What kind of flute is it?

  • Sorry that this response took like half a year :/

It's a Jonah Thompson flute. I bought it in Taos, NM. I saw you had one too. But waaaay bigger!

  • Wonderful tune! I really want a flute like that - it sounds beautiful! :D I just play a "regular" flute, ahaha. Keep it up! ^_^

  • love it :-)

  • I am just learning to play the Native American flute, and it is just a wonderful feeling. I have had RA for the last 27 years so it is a bit difficult with my twisted fingers, but when that flute sings, I feel like I am flying! (grin)

  • what key is the flute in? F?

  • coult you please tell me the name of the song , I really like it

    thnx anyways

    R

  • The song don't have a name. It's just something I came up with shortly after buying the flute. Maybe you have a good name for it though... :)

  • thing i liek bout the flute easy to watch and learn

  • That was sweet, really, thanks, I was looking for something to learn from and I found this!

  • Really really good...I would like to hear that out on a mountain...nture all around.

  • You are an amazing musician!

  • Many, many thanks!!!

  • Awesome the best!!!! Love It!!! Life is good

  • i had one of these for a very long time but i don't really know how to play one... notes and such i mean.... can you show me?

  • Calderoh this is just me but i stole my moms flute and learned how to play on my own. In my eyes you need no notes just play what comes from your heart.

  • i can do that myself... but it will take some time... the reason i ask that is so i can learn quick because i am in many musical groups. and you know how those are... we all need to be in the same tone and this and that... this is why i asked... so if even you knw, please help

  • Well sadly i do not know any kinds of notes or things for the flute, if i did i would gladly help you but i only play what i feel i have never even looked at notes or anything like that. Sorry

  • it's cool. all i needed were the fingerings of the this so i could play. the best way to play is by the heart so you are in the right track!!

  • Well start out very easy with your finger placement, and the just try moving each finger on and off as you move up the flute. If you notice in the video he never moves his finger off the third hole from the top? I do the same thing, for some reason i don't like the sound of that note. And if you keep your air flow steady and drag a finger slowly off one of the holes it makes a sad sound. Just keep in mind you can really only play the flute from bottom to top not top to bottom. =)

  • thats not true there is alot of players that start from the top,When u wnat to figure out somthing new it's from the top ask ODELL BORG

  • Im not saying that the flute "can't" be played from top to bottom haidaboyktn2004, i am only saying that if you try it is normally goes from a loud note to a soft note. Many players will tell you to start at the bottom but you can start wherever you like my friend. I am only saying that top to bottom is too high pitched for me. So i suppose i should have said not "recommended" to play from top to bottom instead of "you can't really" Thank you for bringing that to my attention. =)

  • true true thanks for commenting back

  • You are very welcome. =)

  • If you like native american flute playing you have to check out robert mirabal. He is a performiong artist as well as a class A flute maker who resides in taos pueblo New Mexico...

  • great

  • I love the sound of a tribal totem flute. I have a snake flute.

  • me too

  • yo were did u go 2 learn this song its pretty bad i wanna learn how 2 play

  • Mycket bra spelat! Ladda upp fler filmer när du spelar den här flöjten, det är något speciellt med Nordamerikansk inidanmusik! Jag känner mig avkopplad och glömmer för en stund bort vardagen.

  • Sounds great.

  • dont listen to these others crap, it sounds perfect. i have been playing naf for years and your coming along fine. i have been trying to learn how to play like goldenhawk wilson from. nc. have heard him play many times and when i heard this i thought i was hearing some of his older stuff..

  • perfect native americans are turkic

  • read hitory well theyt are turkic no matter you will sat

  • Lol, dude, go to google, go to pictures, typ in, : Native Americans, and youll see 1.340.000 pictures of indians XD haha

And bu the way, FredFredrik , great music! :D

  • that sounds so nice

  • I like this

    So, thank you for posting

  • kevin locke, carlos nakai, joe firecrow, andrew vasquez, robert tree cody, william gutierrez...all good flute players, this guy...still sucks...lol

  • ^^ You're really good, don't listen to all these other idiots who keep flaming you. Good job!

  • nice!

  • Pretty Good. If you like the Native American Flute check out Redbelly(David Martinka). He has a couple of CD's out. His latest one is fantastic.

  • What key is your flute? I have one and I am Indian and I still can't play it. I would like to be able to play like Mary Youngblood. I like your flute playing....don't care what anyone says. There are lots of critics out there. Usually they don't try.

  • I belivie it's in the key of A.

  • You're really good! I have that exact same flute, and I got to meet the guy who made it. He autographed it for me.

    P.S. GOOD!

  • You sure do play better than me.

  • I'm amazed at some of the responces.

This guy play this flute amongst a number of other instruments. Yet some bash him.

Is it because he is white? European? Because he plays the native flute?

The guy can play...if you think he could play this better just leave THAT comment, not "he suck", and maybe he'd learn more.

  • well, I may be an ass, but that still doesn't stop this video from sucking...lol

  • Well, I liked it. But I can see what other people are complaining about. It's good advice to use a better recording program, and maybe record in a better acoustical environment next time. Keep it up!

  • No, it isn't a bunch of people... it is one ass named JayCree74. Nice playing, by the way

  • dude keep playing waki chapi celebrate the imperfect the people who say you suck well they suck at least youre playing advise ; get a better recording program

  • quit hating there aint no videos of you playing is there?

  • Nice.....very cool!!!! Native spirit is the best!!! Doesn't matter what kind of race you are!!!!=D

  • wow...there are alot of really angry people posting comments about ur video!...i didnt think it was that bad. course, i dont play the flute, but to an untudored of ear of someone who just likes music, i thought it was pretty! 8-)

  • I'm not commenting on the commercialization of the flute...I really could care less...all I'm saying is this guy stinks...sure, he's musical, but that doesn't make him a great native american flute player...pooh-pooh!

  • great job who cares what anyone says people find faults even when you give them a million dollars no on person can make everyone happy at any given moment at anytime

  • Not bad at all, enjoyed it! I own a pair of flutes so far from a local craftsman, who is not Native American, but the flutes sound beautiful none the less, and he puts a lot of love into making them. I admit that the debate about cultural heritage is a thorny one, but, I do enjoy playing. If Jaycree74 knew what I was doing with my flutes, he'd probably have an conniption, but they make excellent source for analog sequencers as well as standard playing. :)

  • I recognize the flute he's using...I bet a million dollars that his flute is engraved with "JT Navajo" I met that particular flute maker, Jonah Thompson, at ASU pow-wow a couple of years ago...his flutes are everywhere. Affordable too. So guys like this clown can get them and play tunes and broadcast them to potentially millions of people out there and show them how bad they suck...hahaha

  • cheap cheap cheap

  • LOL. the video said it was like one of his first attempts? It takes REAL NDN flute artists years to be good, non Natives don't have a clue there is a whole OTHER rythm kept for flute music, differnt scales, but these commercial flute makers make scales that are westernized. Like the music but don't use it as a means to spiritualize yourself or find ur roots.. I looked at my feet, I don't see no roots a ingrown toenail but no roots! anyway, he did say he was like new at it.

  • Another fine example of commercialization of Native American culture and misappropiation of that culture into some ideal.I hope when you bought it at least it said made by an authentic Native AND the person selling it could PROVE that... otherwise if they said real Native or Authentic Native and can't prove it, they are violating federal law... I know Native flute makers need to make cash to pay the bills too...

  • he still sucks...lol

  • it's just the fact that it's native american..

    beautiful

  • u suck...

  • nice

  • beautiful!!!

  • skoo'-kum tum'-tum. spo'-oh.kal-lak'-a-la.

  • beautiful, I've always had a connection to the sound of the native flute

  • Thats awesome. I love it.

I don't think Native flutes can just be bought at a market. You would have to order one from someone who makes them, and they're much more beautiful, no offense, but thats how we got ours.

  • Of course you can by a real nativa american flut at a market! You can by it from the native flute maker himself...Pretty common in the southwest I belive...

  • I got mine from the Hopi House at the Grand Canyon...

  • Excellent flute playing! It was a joy listening to you play that beautiful song :)

By the way, what key is your flute tuned to, if any? I'm just curious ;)

  • It's in A....

  • the people who were watching this with me said they are in love with you already...you play so many instruments and rule at all of them!

  • GOOOD SAUND..

  • LOVE IT
