  • That is awesome.

  • Did any of this Salmon successfully jump the Dam? In the film, looks as if none did - very sad!

  • @MizRoxy2005 In the film, none did. However, it does happen. Unfortunately, they usually have to try many times before succeeding. On top of that, when they make it, they usually hardly disturb the water and can therefore be hard to spot.

As a result, I have not yet succeeded in getting a successful jump on camera.

  • They are atlantic salmon and yes you can fish this river

  • I cant believe city of toronto hasnt found the few dollars to modify this dam for better passage for fish! ...

  • @tomphish1212 Lots of salmon and trout can make it upstream shortly after rainfall. Rain will increase the river's water levels, making it easier for salmon to make the jump. What you're seeing in the video is crystal clear water indicating low water river conditions, so during this time, it's harder for salmon to make the jump.

  • hi i wana go fishing there so cen i fishing there? and how i go there i live stelles and keele were is good place ?

  • This is so depressing watching them jump and never make it...

  • Nature is cruel, and this is but one example of that cruelty.

Many of them do make it, but those are much harder to spot. I am hoping to show that in the future.

  • I went there this afternoon but to the wrong side where the hobo was chain smoking... I should have been on the other side where the nice park is and fresh air. Nonetheless it was incredible. A fish as big as my son's leg came right up to us in the shallow water, it was like sharks jumping all over the place... majestic. We didn't see any make it and that does make me sad.

  • It is the cruelty of nature that helped Darwin formulate his theory of evolution. I agree that it is very cruel indeed.

That said, I guarantee that quite a few salmon do make it. That is precisely why the dam has those little stairs. They are designed to make it somewhat easier for the salmon to reach their goal, without making it easier than nature intended.

All that suffering makes me sad as well, and most scientists I know, have to learn to accept this suffering.

  • those are nice fish man those chinnook get so friken black when i catch um the biggest i got in the humber river in ontario in woodbridge was around 25- 35 pound mark

  • its chinook,i go fishing there every sun, they have nice rainbow and brown trout to

  • fatass cont go over

  • budi there chinook

  • k fist of all they are not atlantic but Pacific salmons. they've been put in lake ontario, erie, and Geargian bay many years ago to restock, and now as u see there is shit load of them in prety much every river those lakes are connected to. this is every year end of the summer.

  • This is a true masterpiece! Congratulations young man, you are a true genius. I'm going to put my computer on you.

  • i always fish the oldmill the best tiem to fish the river is anywhare septeember to november for salmon remember one thing if it rains anytime in thoes three months u make sure u go to the old mill and fish cuz as soo as the river rises they salmon come in to spawn meaning they come in to lay their eggs but they come in as schools of 50 - 100 fish at a time with fish avregeing between 18pounds to almost 30 soo get out their and have a go at it but make sure u have the right gear

  • What Type of salmon is this?

  • I'm not a salmon expert, so I don't know. However, based on what I have read about restocking salmon in Lake Ontario, the majority of them are probably atlantic salmon.

  • How can they be atlantic salmon if they are in the old mill lake?

  • well the credit river anglers group had been stocking atlantic salmon over the past years, now they are starting to run up the credit river after 150 years absent from lake ontario.

  • @BartVanBockstaele atlantic salmon are very rare, stocking continues but returns arent very progressive. These salmon are chinooks ( the most predominant in the great lakes) .

  • @BartVanBockstaele the atlantic salmon being stocked are still very small and do not migrate upstream yet, these salmon are chinook's and coho.

I caught a 30 pounder at duffins creek today, good way to end the season.

  • is it possible to fish on that river??

  • Yes, it is possible. I always see some people fishing there.

  • When is the best time to see the salmon run?

  • From my personal experience, from about October 10 to October 20. Unfortunately, this isn't an exact science. It depends on too many factors to accurately predict.

  • ...do any of them ever make it?

  • Yes, actually. So far, I have not been able to catch one on camera, I think. The trouble is that the vast majority of jumps fail, and that a memory card is only so big...

Nevertheless, I have seen quite a few that make it.

  • I was once with this old, fatass man there. Actually, several times. We never saw any of them make it. Actually, he just told me that we saw several semon make it.
