@raymangold22 That's handy for RIse of rome yes.. but Age of Empires ( without expansion) only displays time and no housing status. And for the others: please don't think you can do it better than him.. he's one of the best aoe players around

This is a tutorial on how to start off, buildings can be made later. You ALWAYS need food in this game, plus it'll be less of a gap between the tool age and the bronze age this way.
