Excellent, Excellent,Excellent. Thanks for posting this wonderful video of two of my all time favourite musicians, the late Josef Zawinul and John McLaughlin. Thank You. Hartley C.
also out of all the musicians that miles davis played with, john was the one and only one that miles ever dedicated songs to on his recordings, and we know of all the musicians that miles schooled, bitches brew, john mclaughlin. and think it was big fun, go ahead john and dont forget jack johnson. miles favorite guitarist.
Zawinul and McLaughlin, beautiful. John's comping sounds like it could be Joe. Joe sounds a lot like it could be Wayne. Would be cool to see and hear the three of them in this.
One of the all time most beautiful songs ever written. I love the fact that it was written by that man there on stage with the gruff exterior.........his insides must have been so incredibly soft to write this and other amazingly gorgeous melodies for which he is known. Of course, the guitarist is no slouch!
Oh, yeah, Joe casually strolling on stage, blending with John's guitar, how great is that. Joe and John you have been an indescribable influence on my life. THANK YOU!
This piece brings tears to my eyes. I followed Weather Report and Shakti in years gone by and this music just fills the soul. I like it when John plays a little slower. I bought his guitar lesson 'This is the way I do it' recently from his web site..recommend it highly.
The level of artistry in this performance leaves me breathless and spiritually altered! This is exactly why jazz is essential food for my soul - and hopefully for yours too! We need to fight to keep music in our schools so that our kids can awaken their minds and hearts to this kind of beauty!
Fantastic, Mclaughlan is trigering a keyboard with his guitar, beautiful music of the all time greatest, rest in peace Joe sadly missed,,,,,,,,, any more from this concert?
Pray that some of the people in the World start listening to this future music, propelling us forward spiritually.

@bamboosa That was a one-off instrument that Korg made for Zawinul called the "Pepe'.

@DragonBice sooo hilarious that this comment has more thumbs up than the comment that actually contained what you are talking about.

What is that instrument Joe Zawinul playing?
theheroricky 1 year ago
@theheroricky some type of melodica by the looks of it.
jayah2007 1 year ago
@theheroricky . It's a Korg special built wind controller midi unit they called 'Pepe'. I don't think that it made it to production.
