the government was spread by force, does not have any clear evidence in Hadith or history, if Sheikh Awlaki had it, he should have given it to the people, it seems he has only presented a hypothesis of how Islam and its rule was spread.

@ethicprinting - the Prophet (saaws) conquered mecca to raise the banner of Islam across a pagan city. spreading Islam is done in different ways that do not contradict one another. the pen and the sword, peaceful discussions and armed jihad...all compliment one another. Surah 9 was one of the last to be revealed, and it has the blueprint for the Islamic system (not religion in an individual sense) conquering the world! the 4 Khalips that came after the Prophet (saaws) acted on this.
