Actually "Saint" Patrick was an Irish god, and was never Catholic. He didn't convert the Irish to Christianity, since he lived way before it. Missionaries came, and couldn't get the Irish to stop worshiping him, so they just added him to the pantheon of saints, and the Irish simply added jesus to their religion. And then they were eventually turned into catholics.
