SHOOT! This guy is in a bunch of my favorite movies! xDDDD Holy crap, I didn't recognize him with short hair. LOL That bastard made me hate him as Dr. Smith, oh how i love his acting. <3
This movie rocked. It only got better as time went on. It blew Leonardo's & Kate's asses right off the deck of the Titanic and broke all records. It's too bad they never did the planned sequel, it could have been good.
Can you seriously imagine the modern day family living and working in space LoLz you'd have the Gangsta family from LA and the Tracksuit Family from the UK all in space omg what a disaster half if not all the modern day kids dont have an education, yeah they could be space chimps :P
I don't really get the need to make " darker, edgier " versions of tv classics for the big screen. Sometimes, like the 1989 " Batman ", they do well, primarily because that re - make used Frank Miller's version of Gotham & Batman. Anyway, the original Lost in Space was campy, cheesy & FUN kid stuff. This cinematic version was fun, as well, but w / an edgier side. I've got VERY mixed feelings about it.
I was REALLY enjoying this film, what sort of spoilt if for me was that computer genarated monkey thingy at the end of the film. I like older film. I still would watch this film, I just need to find the tape from a charity shop sometime. My 3 favorite film at the moment are AI, Mission to Mars and Lost is Space. It's funny, once you actualy start to watch films other people say are cray, you really start to enjoy them, there are so many underated films out there.
Lost in Space is a Light Hearted Comic Book Fantasy, They just Clunked with a Sappy Schmaltzy Script in 1998 in th Remake. What a Hit Movie if they gave it another Shot at the Movies with a Better Script. a More Manly John Robinson has to be cast in it just like Guy Williams
@Roadracer987654321 The show was cheesy. But good. Someone posed this question to me, why send a family? Usually we go for a team of proffesionals for things like this. Even if they are recolonizing. and Guy Williams? Nahhh, he was good for the original, but this is a different time. We needed someone like Jack O'Neill from Stargate SG-1.
@LiveLaughLove8489 - " Why send a family ? " indeed. There were families & couples on board the Enterprise - D in Star Trek: TNG, & maybe if we do start seriously exploring & colonizing the outer solar system we'll send families - after the initial recon, surveys & exploration. Trained families that can work, live, & function onboard ships to the outer reaches of our solar system in a professional way & yet still be a family.
@BrettJRipley Well, at least the trailer made it look like this would be a good movie, but even then, the robot was pretty hammy too, but he deserves more credit than the actual actors
Lacey Chabert is hot I remember having a crush on her also when this movie came out to bad she is a movie star and like 8-9 years older than me I think she is 16-17 in this movie right?
Lacey Chabert's voice made me fall in love with her ..BAD!! Like portalplayer, my crush was also overwhelming.... That tight space/cryo-suit with inbuilt boobies? It was almost criminal!
@diakrite I remember when she had those vid journal entries.
Yeah, she was the underrated hottie in this one. I think most people were thinking of Heather Graham or Demi Moore. Still, my favorite character was Dr. Smith, except when he became that damn spider thing.
I like Matt LeBlanc in this role...I was always felt that he would be amazing in a serious role...want to see him in something even more serious, but this will have to do.
I remember I really loved this movie when I was 9, and my parents always thought I was crazy. Now I kind of know why. lol But it's definitly got camp value I'll give it that.
I loved the production design, the robot, and Gary Oldman. The casting was OK, and I didn't even have a problem with "Joey" as West. But the dialog! Every time someone opened their mouth, a little part of me died inside.
If you haven't seen it, you might find the deleted scenes to make a lot more sense out of what went on. I know after I was able to see it, the movie suddenly made a lot more sense AND it became far more interesting to me.
@JaneCochran I kind of figured out what was going on, and I could sense some solid sci-fi ideas in the plot's framework. And though I wish they'd gone with Mumy as adult Will, the main cast was made up of strong performers. But the money must have run out after right after they paid for the stars and set construction, leaving them with nothing to pay for a good script doctor or a better director. Such a disappointment.
I remember there was a trailer for this movie that used either Busy Child or Keep Hope Alive, both by the Crystal Method. Can't seem to find it here on YT though.
I never cared about the story- I just loved to watch it because of the look. I remember I had just gotten Wipeout XL and seen The Fifth Element at that time and between the three it made me really interested in science and tech... We need more sci-fi these days- Minority Report was the last good one I've seen...
Good Sci-fi.... Honey, get out more, I was paid to be at the preview & even the die hard fans hated this rubbish it was embarresing & sad for such a fine ,fun show to be sent up & ruined by such a cheap crappy toy advertisment the "actors" were sleepwalking & the "Script" was mean spirited -Dr Smith as a Rock Spider--thats Child Molester in Prison slang....Sadly -It Killed Lost in Space FOREVER.
Well I saw it when I was 12 and it made me want to learn more about lost in space and sci-fi etc... to each their own I guess... but yes you're right, I do need to get out more.
i ahvnt seen this movie in years, i couldn't remember the name, i like the bit with the spider thingies in the tunnel and he uses that epic armour best ever bit
