:D HECK YEAH! Love this movie! Nothing like a classic. I thank my dad for introducing me to this movie. Sad what actually happened to Joey Cramer (David)... my opinion: should have stayed in the acting business.
Back to the subject of the movie. Definitely an underrated classic. Thank you for making this. When I found the movie on DVD I was so excited! Our VHS copy was wearing out.
Kids movies in the '80s just had something magical about them that you hardly ever get in movies these days. Nowadays it's mostly just all lame teeny boppers and fart jokes. Back then, it was fun characters in fun stories that kids and their parents could sit around and watch together.
This was one of my favourite films as a kid!! I was given it as a bday present last year and i was over the moon :-) Great to just hear both theme tunes too!
A Remake is NOT Welcome. There is no way that this film could be Any better, So it can ONLY end up being WORSE.
Stop ruining the Classics & Start getting off your high horse & find real Writers, real artists, real musicians & start making good films again. Because quite frankly I'm Sick of the Check List Films you Keep making. Shakey Cameras, Over-Used CGI, Strobe Edits, Boring Orchestrated Music, Over-Payed Actors, Uninspired Stories, oh the list goes on. Take this film as an Example ONLY.
I've loved this movie and it's soundtrack music since my first viewing in 87. Alan Silvestri composes some of the coolest movie music from the 80s. He also wrote the slick soundtrack music for "Predator", "Back To The Future" and "The Abyss". Thanks Jazwardo for the quality sound upload. This CD is not easy to find these days. I never thought I would ever say this, but damn, I miss the 80s.
@MrGolden103 so ur MR. too many twinkies???? that's awesome! how old r u now? u still keep in touch with Joey??? he should be around my age, like 38 or something
@jusaLOSER it was fun to make this movie i got to say but some sens in the movie was so fun. its hard to believe i got hardly no money out of this but it paid off in the long run though.
@MrGolden103 are u gonna make an appearance in the remake? when will it be ready? is it goin into the theaters or to dvd? Do u have any clue if they're using an already famous kid star or if they are using an unknown actor? sorry about the questions but i would like to know, if u have any clue about anything that would be great! please reply
Heavy use of the Synclavier II digital music system in this sound track, which I love. Great stuff from Alan Silvestri as always! :) Hall & Oates used it a lot too for their 1984 Big Bam Boom album, sounds wicked too ;)
What a beautiful film - real classic from the 80s. I enjoyed Flight of the Navigator more than E.T. Joey Cramer showed brilliant acting. I loved character Max and his sense of humour. It was great to see amazing and so talented Veronica Cartwright.
In Japan, this movie had also good prefferences among younger generations. I found this movie from my teacher's invitation as one of summer season movie that is recommended. I got strange impression from time traveling. That brought me into the unexperienced world that I've never imagined. And through this theme music I could remember the feeling that I got after see this movie when I was still junior high school student. I'd like to show my appreciation for your approading any way! Arigatou!!!
I loove that 2nd track especially the beginning and end of it with eery electronic arpeggios - created a great atmosphere for the whole film. The bit in the film where he enters the lab where they're keeping the ship still stays with me - it had such a sense of awe and wonder to it.
I heard lots of movies people love as kids turn out to be crap, but, for me that's not the case. Although I recognize the flaws of the movie as I get older, it just ends up not bothering me and I still like the movie. I still watch Disney movies and I'm 25 years old, (seriously I'm 25.......don't take my username literally, I just suck at making user names) The only two Disney movies I dont like anymore are Peter Pan and The Sword In The Stone.
I remember seeing this on the Disney Channel (back when they showed Donald Duck cartoons and required a magazine to let you know what's on) on a Saturday night before a wedding our family went to.
This is such a wonderfully done video. I used to wear our old VHS tape out watching this movie, really brought me back. Great editing, great effects, kudos!
The re-make they're planning... it could be cool, if they made it with the daughter of the original kid, whos name I forget right now...
Surely some reason for a re-visit of the same alien, to talk to (Brian??) and his daughter, can be concocted. It would make a cool bit of synergy if the new kid was a girl rather than a boy...
On May 25, 2009, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Disney was readying a remake of the movie. Brad Copeland is writing the script and Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will serve as producers......by the grace of god do not let them screw this up!
How can they screw it up? I dont get this fucking moronic attitude you filmgeeks have...
The original will ALWAYS be there. It wont be fucked up by a re-make... rather, the re-make will introduce a new generation of kids to the story, 'cause for some ungodly reason, they're too stupid to see the merit of movies that werent made yesterday.
You know what? I am so tired of the Hollywood remaking going on these days. Is Hollywood so bereft of ideas that they have to mess with every decades greatest movies?
This is a kid's classic that has the magic that can only be captured by the unique style of the 80's. This movie makes me remember wearing high tops, slap-on wristbands, and other styles of the late 80's as a kid. I doubt seriously this new one will be anywhere as good. Sigh....
as long as they don't use a jonas brother or a stupid emo kid! i may be interested in it. they should use Cameron Bright he's a good young actor that would work good in the remake.
This song brings back so many memories of the 80's. This was my favorite movie when I was a kid and I loved the music, too! I was six years old in 1986 when it came out. This movie and E.T. are two great science fiction movies from the 1980's. Great video, thanks!
Excellent video of one of my favorite movies. I am 42 and was also 12 in 1978 and remember like it was yesterday. I turned 18 in 1984 so this really brought back the great feelings. I have a DVD too of the movie. I wanted to get a cd of the soundtract in recent years but it has been impossible to find. Thanks for making this :)
You've done a brilliant job on this! I was 9 when I fisrt watched this film. It really spooked me in the beginning. I'm 30 now and I still love it! I have it on DVD. The music is fab!
this was so awesome to me as a kid back then...it motivated me so much and now that im an adult it still inspires me... that I mention im a pilot with my own air craft. never stop dreaming skies the limit
This movie means so much to me. It really epitomized the lost innocence of the 1980's - truly the last greatest decade America will ever know. The last great president America will ever have. Nostalgia is often bittersweet.
damm this brings back memory's... the first time i saw it was back in 94 when i was 4 years old on the good old bata max ;) and i just saw it to day for the first time 15 years. still my favrite disney movie of all time.
I have the DVD. The first time I ever watched this movie was in the fifth grade and I've fallen in love with Disney movies even if I'm in my late 20s. I love going back to memory lane and I'm an eighties baby.
as long as nobody else ages 8 years and u don't stay the same age! LOL yeah i think the very first time i saw this movie was in the early 90s when i was in my Late teens, possibly early 20s and i LOVED it! i am 36 now and have the dvd! i think my favorite part is when they r soarin playing "i get around" but yeah this song is a cool one!
ahh memories of being a 11 year old in 1986, I remember my aunt took us kids to see this when it first came out. I loved it and I actually still have this on VHS although I have the DVD version too.. Great movie
This movie was also probably one of the most underrated movie's they made. I hope we the fan's get the privlidge of Disney remaking this classic movie someday. I think it could work on today's
silver screen and be a whole lot better than the 1980's classic version.
This is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I'm 31 yearsold and the first time I saw this movie I was in 5th grade. You know I've read alot of book's and stories
from people in the UFO community about
how the government tell's the truth about UFO's and aliens in an undercover fashion by putting it in a movie or a cartoon. I've always wondered was Flight Of The Navigator really some kid's real life story that Disney made a movie about? This movie was truly ahead of it's time!
Wow, I remember seeing this when I was six back in 87, thanks for the fond memories. The Tamaxion Drone Ship graphics was way ahead of its time. A cult classic for us Gen Y ers.
much appreciated, as this is one of my favourite movies! would a typical 20 year old have heard of this movie? not at all.
this is an underrated classic, and im glad you found it.
i've always loved the end credits where they fly through the changing skies with that dope track. i even taped the music on to cassette back in the day. all good now as i have the cd.
I really enjoyed this video! I saw this video in the 80's. Thanks for reminding me of the good old days. My kids are now curious to see the movie. So now I gotta hunt for it. Thanks again! Great job!
Sweet music from a great film - Happy memories of being a kid in the eighties.
By the way, I know it's the same composer but did anyone else ever notice the music from 4.28? It's exactly the same tune - albeit up tempo as that in the opening scene in Young Guns II where it shows Billy and the gang riding through the desert?
holy smokes ! I gotta see this movie again ! Man, that doesn't make me younger, but it sure is great to have seen these top movies while they were new ! Thanks for the post ! Great music to !
omg i love this movie so much that in the late 80s i went to jfk space center when i was around 10 and bought a nasa hat just like his.. i still have it.. this is my favorite 80s movie!!!
Man, I loved this movie. Best line was when KEvin was talking to Sara Jessica Parkers character......"Me? I'm weird? I'm not the one with the purple hair!" or "I was smelling daisiesssss"
its one of those movies where our kids won't be too impressed...........but a cult classic where we will be like "wtf....this was one of THE movies when i was growing up".
yeah, this was the movie that all my kids and i got into as far as "sci-fi" goes....and the music score...wow.....who ever put this together needs to be working with some movie company...way to go....great job!
!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree I love the drum riff of the Robot Romp song which starts at 3:28 as well. It is still my favorite song from the movie.
Way to go Alan Silvestri you really created a great song.

This movie is dope. The 80's had quite a few really good movies, the kind they don't make anymore.

It's exactly the same tune - albeit up tempo as that in the opening scene in Young Guns II where it shows Billy and the gang riding through the desert?

what a tune at 3.50, they should start playing that at cream fields
