  • cant compete with the macbook pro 13in, 256mb nvidia graphics card with 2.66 ghz intel core 2 duo and 4 gigs of ram

  • @n9athan your crazy...the intel core 2 duo cant touch the new envys I7 chip set...google it !

  • @EBTerriers the 14in is slower clock speed with turbo boost is 2.53ghz, the 15.6 is faster at 2.8ghz but its also in a different class, if you compare that with the macbook pro 15in i7 thats 2.66ghz to 3.2ghz with turbo boost, so class for class the mac wins

  • @n9athan your wrong ...the hp envy 15 and 17 had the i7 chip ( 2.66ghz to 3.2ghz with turbo boost ) before the mac did ...in fact apple have only just started advertising their laptops with the i3,i5,i7 chip-sets... the hp Envys has been using those chipsets for over a year now ,wheres the macs had been using the older chip sets ...please get your facts right before posting !

  • @EBTerriers show me that hp envy with 2.66 to 3.2 i just went on their site and saw a 2.8 with turbo boost, and i also saw a 14 with a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo

  • @n9athan Lol Mac wins? Not quite. Why dont you show me a macbook with a decent and better gpu?

HP ENVY 17, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-580M Dual Core Processor (2.66GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.33GHz. You said to show you and i just did. For an core I7, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-840QM Quad Core processor (1.86GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz... Do take note that it is a 8MB l3 Cache as compared to the Macbookpro 17 4MB L3 cache.

and btw Hp envy does 3D...

  • IMHO this is more beautiful than the macbook pro, just little things that made this more good looking...

  • its funny that Macbook Air is suppos to be thicker but doesnt appear like it because of it design.

  • if i spent that much i rather get a macbook air or macbook pro than any pc because of the duo OS. PC are good if u dont spent alot of money.

  • 18 hours!!!! I just crapped myself

  • I smell a Hackintosh wannabe

  • that slice battery is an innovation something really cool. and 18 hours of battery is super awsome.maybe 4 - 5 hours playing a low end game. i;m using the hp pavilion dm3 which is like the netbook version of the envy series and i'm super happy with it.

  • its a nice laptop but doesnt justify the high price

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM yes it does

  • HP didn't get sued right, that means it wasn't stealing cause if apple has a good idea why didn't they copyrighted it?

  • because apple's legal department doesnt do shit. everyone knows that.

  • apple copied sony first lol

  • oh damm ur funny >.>

  • It's so funny how everyone is like PC's are better, 9 in 10 people prefer PC's.... well obviously Apple is doing SOMETHING right... HP should be ashamed... develop something NEW something that will be AMAZING on it's own.

  • @Hcoswimmer22 Hp envy is NEW and AMAZING already. And what is apple doing right in? Its PC-BASED. Does ur macbook have a better gpu? does it have offer 3D? Which is the amazing one now?

  • if u really need quadcore get a computer thats worth it like the DV7T or DV8T, not this garbage MBP copy.

  • @Quagmire97 Garbage? Copy? In what way did the Envy copied the Macs? In chicklet keys? In a better GPU?

  • @woshiprozzz

in keys, design, multitouch trackpad, just looking at the fucking thing is a copy of the Mac.

  • @Quagmire97 In Keys probably. However, i dont suppose apple "invented" chicklet keys. BUT "in multi-touch trackpad & design?" Are you blind? DO you see a apple logo in the front of the envy 14? Do you see lazer edge design on the macs? Whats with the world today, every pcs that are non-macs branded are known as "copies". Must as well say apple "copied' the invention of laptops.

  • why why why copy the Macbook pro casing ????

  • cause its slick.. and even more solid than the MBP.

I said same thing until i walked into Frys and checked it out. and an i7 processor that shows up as 8 cores cause its threaded! and up to 16gb ram?!

    i want this bad!!

  • It's not a solid piece of aluminum nor is it a square

  • @tindra98765 Your not making sense at all. Perhaps ur not opening ur eyes wide enough. How is it a copy of the casing? The hp envy is lazer edged, the Mac isnt. The hp envy have a slightly curvier sides, the Macs are have more fixed sides. The Hp envy has a logo on its bottom left, the Mac has it in the middle. The hp envy has a different colour as compared to the Macs...

How bout having a check with your eyes?

  • At least Dell can come up with their own design for a premium metal cased notebook. HP just make an uglier copy of the macbook pro, and then try and pretend its their own design.

  • Dude your a failure apple fanboy the black keyboard was originally jacked from sony laptops who implemented them in every notebook present the black glass screen look was taken from some hp pavilion screens and the large trackpad is a combination of stolen ideas and they use complete different material magnesium for the bottom don't kid yourself man i have a macbook pro but its not innovation there software is great there designs have been a combination of stolen looks and materials for years.

  • everyone company stelas ideas from other companies. from desktops to laptops to cars to clothes etc. etc.

  • Yes Apple took ideas from other companies and refined them. It happens all the time with all sorts of companies. Apple only mimicked certain components of other companies, and added their own innovations. Unlike HP who simply copy a whole notebook design from another company.

  • By refining you mean steal them Im typing on mine my old vaio has an identical keyboard man there excellent computer enough said. But apple has stolen many ideas and created a laptop they claim that is innovation when really its a collection of stolen ideas although hp may have made a clone. Apple already stole many ideas for its present macbook pro line but aleast they did it right they have even more power and a longer battery life at a less offensive price you cant really complain.

  • I don't think you can say with any degree of honesty that what HP is doing is any different from what Apple does in terms of 'borrowing' from others. Apple copied Sony's island style keyboard, and now HP has taken the unibutton trackpad from Apple.

Let's see someone else take the clip-on external battery from HP now, because that is a pretty damn good idea.

  • "Let's see someone else take the clip-on external battery from HP now, because that is a pretty damn good idea."

Completely agreed. Maybe they can do a clip on matte finish while they're at it ;)

  • "I don't think you can say with any degree of honesty that what HP is doing is any different from what Apple does in terms of 'borrowing' from others."

Yes, HP has a very different idea of borrowing from Apple. Apple might borrow one single part of a computer, such as the keyboard. HP 'borrowed' basically the entire look of a computer from Apple.

  • @TERMINAT0R150 The hp envy is lazer edged, the Mac isnt. The hp envy have a slightly curvier sides, the Macs are have more fixed sides. The Hp envy has a logo on its bottom left, the Mac has it in the middle. The hp envy has a different colour tone as compared to the Macs...

Borrowed the entire look? its just like saying every car on earth is copying one another.

  • @TERMINAT0R150 I dont see how the slimfit battery borrows the looks from apple. I dont see how the touch pad "borrows" from apple. I suppose i can say that with any degree of honesty what HP is doing is different from what Apple does in terms of being original. How bout saying apple "borrowed" the idea of have a laptop to be rectangular in shape...

  • The clip on battery is not an innovation? I think it's comparable to the unipad in utility. It also boast an awesome screen and the 15inch model has some pretty exclusive high end specs.

  • Oh you mean like the ENTIRE keyboard mouse and display like Sony had?!

Remember Apple STOL this and refined it = they took away the right click to make it more retarded. Bravo Apple! lol

  • @TERMINAT0R150 Ugly to you but pretty to me. Its a question of taste and i believe could not be generalized as a whole. They dont pretend. They do it openly. So you mean all metal cased notebooks are copies of Macs?

  • 18 hours!!!!! HOLY ISH!

  • i think this will over heat.....

  • lol magnesum bottem (sos cant spell mg)

sweet quick put some hydrocloric acid on it and make it 2 muler lol see what happens (unless the back is protected with a coat) lool kick ass

  • your an idiot, why would people use pure magnesium comercially? its an alloy, its got a coating to prevent corrosion... basic science class isnt world practical buddy

  • FACBOOK

  • Mr.Morris, let's be blunt, this is a total Mac book pro rip off!

Though i am quite happy about i7 and 16gigs of memory.

  • I would consider it except its not particularly buatifull

  • does the magnesium keep out viruses and malware.

  • Oh thanks! I just purchased a new laptop and thought it would keep me happy for a while. Now I have to have this one!

  • 18 hours of battery life with the additional slice? omg!!

  • That's what I was thinking. If the slide can add that much battery life, maybe Apple should borrow that tech. Why not, HP ripped the look for that laptop from Apple anyway.

  • no they didnt ! more like apple ripped the look from other companys , apple copies everyone and claims to eb the first , idnt see mac having a etched pattern on it , fanboy

  • as long as there arent any major heat issues im so getting this laptop!

  • Looks great! I hope it doesn't heat up like a stove like their previous models.
