Well, from a old school, muscle car junkie background, I fell in love w/ Subies many years ago, even tho I was a foreign car hater. To me, it sound almost as good as a cammed LS series V8. Sorry if I step on anyones toes for this but I despise ricers and their fart can exhausts such as Honda and Nissan. They're good cars tho, and I love my Subie and my Frontier. @krimzin518 Yes very true about the sound compared to Nissan, or any other 4/6 cyl.. I hate to say this tho, but the Boxer sound comes from the header design; not the configuration. Unfortunately, I wish that were the case and Japan has moved away from the UEL design to Equal Length headers. Sounds like ass IMO, but its proven to make more power since it allows for smoother exhaust flow. Thankfully the US is still using the UEL design. I'll sacrifice 10-15 hp for that signature Subaru grumble.
