As a survivor of child abuse with mental health problems. It is the very reason this campaign needs to suceed. For all of our sakes. Those with and without mental health issues. The biggest being our treatment. I have no criminal record. I am a victim of others. Not self inflicted or deserved as with most you will find. Help and support. Not discrimination please.
OK, happens when you don 't scroll down before you read the comments...ooops, so I know now that it's called ascent....sorry to be a pain in the ass...
appreciate the contents of the spot, however, the haunting music has stuck to my memory ever since I heard it a year ago in a book shop as ambience music, but nobody could tell me what it was, can anyone here??? Sounds like music from heaven...
Well we could always challenge the stigma by resisting promoting the misguided message that only 1 in 4 suffer mental health problems - far more likely is the concept that we ALL experience mental health challenges at some point and so are all on some point of a continuum. Perhaps when we acknowledge this, we can stop the 'US' and 'THEM' mentality ?
I'm turning seventeen this year and I've been suffering from a mental illness for the past 18 months. I didn't want to tell anyone about it because I feared how they'd react. If it wasn't for a few caring friends I'd have never got help. It was and still is one of the hardest things in my life to deal with.
hang in there you're only young when you grow older, you'll learn maturity, and would be priceless for you and put you in an advantage in life when you grow older
it is about time that advert about mental health issues were aired. i'm so glad it was, even if it is a bit tame compared to some in other countries, but still, it's a good start!
I'm so glad this advert has been aired. It's about time people stopped discriminating against those with mental health problems. I've had problems with my mental health for over ten years and it's been a constant struggle, especially in the workplace. I've been fortunate to have one or two understanding employers, but most don't wanna know.
ive recently been medically suspended because of my mental health condition. Colleagues are giving me the silent treatment and management speak and treat me like im stupid.
O.K but no where near as good as the new zealand ones putting forward a more positive view of people who struggle through with mental health problems and how we should admire them. Britian take notes from New Zealand
Initially the ad has to grab attention, and then we can educate people about mental illness with a positive, recovery orientated approach. But the truth is, most people wouldn't even stop to listen if the ad wasn't like this...
Well done Sue and the team...a fantastic video. Challenges stereotypes and then ends with 'Discrimination kills'. Not sure how that can be described as tame particularly when comparing it to other similar campaign ads. Keep up the good work.
good that adverts like this are going onto mainstream television, but rather a tame advert and doesn't really say anything new or strike much home i don't think?
It would be nice to think that this advert will be the start of attitudes changing. At least if it makes people stop and think it will be doing it's job.
Note to my last sentence. I meant good job Sue and team! Love the accompanying ads as well. Hope this campaign will be a big success and alters people's perspective about mental health. You can count on my support. xxx d's e
comments like " i am daft anyway" do not help the cause in a mental health campaign.. that is the problem as people do not always maybe think before saying things..

People treat mental illness as something you can cope by yourself.
The only way I can cope with it is staying in doors all day (work nights) and only going to the suermarket in the evening.
Even walking down the shops is overwhelming enough, sensitive to noise, paranoid of people, and just full of anger.

Ok, this is so patronising. We is different sure. But does that make us victims?
Why not post our video response???
It's funny, anti-stigma, and hard hitting. This campaign is so controlled and orchestrated to create a sense of self, based on 'normality'.

Such dreadful prejudice still exists towards people with mental health issues. I'm so glad this advert has been made, it's been a long time coming.

This advert actually made me smile-I love Brian Eno's track (called "an ending")
And I've lost count of the number of times I've had that "buck up" line...

Not a matter of being PC. Words can cause offence, .. so one should think before saying or writing.
Yes the launch of the campaign is a good thing , even if it is 'tame' in content of advertising..
