This must be a bowdlerized version of the game. Here, somebody omitted the electric arcs during the cutscenes where Geldra's shocking Leila (like at 2:32), so it looks like she's screaming for no particular reason.

Rolling Thunder is the techno counterpart to Ghost and Goblins, it will TEST YOUR SANITY, it's REALLY hard after the 2nd or 3rd stage and the cut scenes make you beleave the ending has to be pretty amazing, and then THIS??? What a ripoff. Took me 5 hours of reloading save states on Mame (there was no freak'n way I could do it lagitly, the game gets INSANELY hard twards the end and it's nearly imposible to predict anything and you die too easily in 1 or 2 hits) and was pissed about the ending.

@luvmelikeudo714 on the Namco Museum PS2 collection, there's a dipswitch option of invincibility. I guess it was available on the arcade version too. Even with it on, this game is a pain in the ass when you get to the platform sections over the lava. You still die if you fall.

I've been playing this game for over 20 years and have yet to finish it. Tonight got to the control room and the frame rate in MAME slowed to a crawl (does this happen with the real thing??).

I loved this game and it took forever for me to finally beat the bastard. I was really disappointed with the ending though. A game that hard and that's all you get in the end?! I love how you can stand right beside one of the villains and they look around and around, but never see you. It could've used a few more options, ie: grenades or shooting up... The 8/16 era was the greatest.

I remember seeing this game at Busch Gardens, they had it in a section for "Adult games". Curious as I was (20) years ago, I tried to find out what was so "Adult" about it. I remember this game from the arcade. One of my good friends spent HOURS and DOLLARS trying to beat this game. I watched him many, many times. He was able to beat it, but I wasn't there when it happened. So this is great. What isn't great is that this is about the lamest ending of any arcade game I've ever seen.
