I doubt it's the lighting, because that would only magnify the great makeup job and make her look flawless. The reality is that very *RARELY* does someone come back from the brink of hard drugs and look the same as they did before. We've all seen the pictures of her without makeup when she was deep into crack. Although she looks good, some of that beauty has been robbed. Crack, heroin and meth are drugs that speed up the aging process.
What's so sad here is that even with the slammin' wig and great makeup, you can still see the effects of age and extended drug use have done to her. Black and Latino people *ALWAYS* age better because of the pigment in our skin, but Whitney is aging and "cracking" fast. I can see it especially in her eyes. That youthful beauty has been robbed by crack.
Whitney does look a little different, but overall I think she looks great still. The lighting here looks very severe; I think that contributes to some of what you're saying
