I know you posted this forever ago and probably already figured it out.. Anyways, you can shade by letting a layer of color dry on a drawing, then coloring over the same layer with the same color to produce a darker shade, or for more subtle shading, you can add more color as the first layer is still drying. You can also shade with other colors on top of each other, like when you want a darker shade of Canary Yellow, you can shade it with Yellowed Orange.
