Reminds me of the theme to "The Thing". Considering both films were released in 1982, I'd like to think that Carpenter belted out these 2 themes during the same recording session lol.
As a fan of 80s horrors, id have to say halloween 3 gets a bum rap. Wo cares myers isnt in it. It is a dam good horror movie with all thr key elememts, esp a creepy soundtrack. I love this movie! 20 more days til hallowenn!, SILVER SHAMROCK
@MrGSWAGG92 Yes, but H3's soundtrack is more about bleak atmosphere, Night of the Demons's soundtrack (although it's pretty damn good) has a grunge\heavy metal sound. It's supposed to sound more cool than eerie or freaky.
I like Halloween 3 much better after seeing it in a theater last summer..it just gets shit on because it has Halloween in the title. Big mistake. I love Myers though, don't care if he burned up in Halloween 2. You can't stop the bogeyman!
@ IamAdamWafer... I always say the same thing. It had nothing to do with the other Halloween movies so it should have been completely separate. However, good movie nonetheless.
@jillbilics i think halloween iii was good, but the title was deceptive. surely the producer knew that tons of people would think that it was a sequel to halloween ii. even if one had never heard of haloween i and halloween ii, he likely would have assumed that halloween iii was a sequel to a movie called halloween ii. i think the titles should have been: "halloween: the boogeyman", "hallo-: the boogeyman lives", "hall-:season of the witch", "hall-: the boogeyman ( or myers ) returns, etc.
@jillbilics when the producer made "halloween" and "halloween ii" and "halloween iii", he likely had no idea that myers and loomis would become such big stars. i would like to think there is a parallel dimension in which myers and loomis are fighting it out eternally. furthermore, halloween iii does have a connection with the myers/loomis story, because cochran and myers were both affected by the ancient druids with their holiday "samhain". i wish loomis had been the one who went after cochran.
This should have been a totally separate movie from Halloween. It was a cool movie. It just should have been called Season of the Witch & not Halloween 3.
@IamAdamWafer Remember Halloween was suppose to be about different stories surrounding Halloween, no just another slasher series. Plus Micheal Myers was beyond dead at the end of the 2nd one. However people whined whined and whined for the beyond terrible sequels(the 4th was okay), because after this one John Carpenter left the series all together. Also remember that the 3 masks in this movie are called the "Halloween 3," do think the title means just that.
@IamAdamWafer i think halloween iii was good, but the title was deceptive. surely the producer knew that tons of people would think that it was a sequel to halloween ii. even if one had never heard of haloween i and halloween ii, he likely would have assumed that halloween iii was a sequel to a movie called halloween ii. i think the titles should have been: "halloween: the boogeyman", "hallo-: the boogeyman lives", "hall-:season of the witch", "hall-: the boogeyman ( or myers ) returns", etc.
Good movie, should of been independent of the first two Halloween movies ,that's why it didn't do well because everyone didn't like that it was called Halloween 3 and had absolutely nothing to do with the first 2 ,everyone was thrown off by it so it became judged by that wrongfully.
I totally agree with you. It's imdb rating proves that. At the time of writing imdb users prefer Jaws 3-D, Death Ship, Grease 2, Amityville 3-D, The Island, Mamma Mia, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Xanadu, which says it all!!!!!
Absolutely love this film and the synth music at the beginning.. The music sets a tone of creepy hopelessness right from the start!

good movie.....I Just really wish that it wasnt called Halloween. It definately would have gotten a better reception if it was not part of the Franchise
Most people, sometime in their lives, stumble across truth. And most jump up, brush themselves off, and hurry on about their business as if nothing had happened.
The shocking truth is that some evil people in the U.S. Government have been killing people in the U.S.A. for many years using the TV audio & cell phone radio waves & vaccinations giving many people cancer (a slow painful death). It is part of the high level Freemasonry witchcraft sacrifice to their god Lucifer (Satan).
The music to this movie scared the crap out of me as a kid, especially those shrill opening notes. And poor Marge - couldn't even look at the screen after the "misfire."
this film is great 10/10, proper halloween weird story regarding the true narute "witchcraft" and not hack n slash. I like the angle also, the pyro tech tv add...lol 10000% yes on this one!.

Long title credits mean a bad movie 98.7% of the time. The music, the opening graphics, the poster, all make you think of a really neat movie, but one didn't happen. It was like an episode of Outer Limits.

People don't understand, Halloween was headed in another direction. Michael Myers was back by popular demand. I thought part 3 was actually very good. It didn't have to do with Michael Myers because, he was supposed to be dead. What was bad was that Debra Hill and Mustapha made us wait 6 years before he made Halloween 4, but much respect to the franchise. Halloween 3 is still one of my favorite horror movies.
Because John Carpenter wanted nothing to do with the, Michael Myers, character after "Halloween II"

1982, the year of the syntesizer. Probably my favorite musical instrument of all time!
This soundtrack, was amazing! So eerie and atmospheric. It really added another element to the film. And the film is BRILLIANT!
They are similar although John Carpenter and Alan Howarth did the score for "Halloween III" and Ennio Marricone did the score for "The Thing". But that bass "bum bum.. bum bum.. bum bum.." Definitely is in both films
This movie is as good as invasion of the body snatchers, if not better, and 4 all ye folks that dont understand why halloween 3 is a (totally different story)than PART 1 OR PART 2, is because John Carpenter wanted all the next Halloween movies to be completely different stories, like tales from the crypt, pity He failed, I'm sick of Michael myers, long live Jason Voorhees & Tom Atkins.
NOTHING YOU IDIOT... ITS A DIFFERENT STORY, IM SICK OF MICHAEL MYERS, by the way how many bullets does he have in him by now, Rob zombies version stank as well. F U

The synthesizers remind me of the score for "The Thing".

But that bass "bum bum.. bum bum.. bum bum.." Definitely is in both films

also reminds me of creepshow (another 1982 horror film) in the scene where leslie nielson watches ted dansen drown.

Yeah "Creepshow" had a good score too. You could here some of it, in the show, "Tales From The Darkside" as well.
A lot of elements from "Creepshow" were in "Tales From The Darkside" (The 1/2 hour show that aired between late 1983 to 1988)
The creature from "The Crate" looked, eeriely similar to the goblin from, the episode "Trick or Treat".
1982, was a fantastic year for horror films, music too

Yeah composer John Harrison scored Creepshow and 'Darkside. I loved his Day of the dead score as well -awesome

Dude, you're after my own heart. Love that whole 'drone' synth stuff. Check out the wendy carlos track in the shining - same synth used as this.
