  • Would be great if you could replace the cd drive to a 4x or 8x speed but i read that can't be done since the system also is very short on cache memory. Are there any people playing neo geo cd's on modded xbox1? I hear it plays games really fast with almost no loading times

  • even the loading screen took time to load. WTH!! Glad those days are gone!!!!

  • I really love how pretty the loading screens are at least. I wish they'd of just put some thought into redesigning things for the cd ports. Like some games had the chocie of removing all the animated unnessary crap and got down to the fighting. Called demo and animation cut. Its in the menu for most of the later games. SS4 totally needed this but snk didnt start until last blade.

  • This is absolutely horrible I just can't believe a Neo Geo exec sat in a room with this system and thought this was ok.... I'm surprised they even sold one console let alone two and um a Neo Geo nut.

  • loading System lol

  • As you load even more than to play.

  • They should just cut the stupid cut scenes out. I never watch that cheesy shit anyways. Just want to play.

  • is it me or does the characters seem smaller than the neo geo mvs version? Some games have some sound effects and voice samples removed, this one lowers sprite resolution!

  • @Fishcake21

The characters are indeed smaller compared to the cart version.

  • Wow, that thing loads faster than a PS3 loads a black ops level.

  • Hands down one of the worse ports of AOF3...Hell, the loading I can take if I'm with a friend, but the downscaled sprites are in complete opposition ot what AOF is about.

  • zzzz zzzz ZZZZ zz ZZZZ zzz

  • why not load in game without the stupid icon?

  • Haha Art of Loading 3! lol

  • The poster should have mentioned that the game has a couple options to speed up a lot the game, cutting intros and stuff, but yeah, back in the day games on neo geo cd were just painful, not to mention king of fighters playing 3 vs 3, that was sadistic.

  • omg wt a fail

  • This is horrible.

  • Well, looks like I have to buy the AES system instead.

  • @burzumaske20 Good luck paying hundreds for your games.

  • lol 1X reading speed

  • This game was a sprite monster, and the characters look scaled down compare to their cart counterpart...

  • god d**** even a load time on the talking, sonic next gen much?

  • load time so later

  • what's the best aof?

  • 1 pick micky spam uppercut win

  • only in 2player you can be micky.

  • lol yea 4got about that but yea for 2 player micky's uppercut is win just spam it lol

  • lol but aof is the easiest one to play. aof 2 has ridiculous hard AI and aof 3 has annoying constant knockdowns.

  • @snkjack aof 2 is a superior game, great gameplay, good sound... about the AI, perhaps you're not cut for it ;) and besides, you gotta love the fact that is hard as hell, otherwise it gets boring... (NOW this is difficult watch?v=jwC544Z37qo)... AOF2 plays flawless on a nintendo DS with NeoDS bye!!

  • there is a difference between challenging and fun and challenging and frustrating.. which AoF 2 is., its just frustrating to play against the A.I.

  • @snkjack personally, I can not finish start to finish, but I can do 8 or 9 foes in a row, with ryo and king

  • lol are you serious i've installed PC games faster than these loads lol

  • back in 1995 PC games on CD didn't install any faster...

  • you are supposed to just laugh god!!!!

  • WTF WITH ALL THE LOADING! Christ I would have givin up and turned it off.

  • they should have called the game : Art of Fighting 3 NOW LOADING, lol

  • Haha what the hell? Did they think nobody would care about the load times and expect this to sell well? I love SNK but good lord...

  • wtf loading screen at EVERY SCENE OMG LOL!

  • bad load times... why did they bring this to market with such a slow CD Rom drive?

  • lol snk really do not think things through.

  • WTF is up with the loading!!!!

  • I'm surprised it didn't have to stop and load every time you threw a punch or a kick. I heard the Neo Geo CD had bad loading times. But not this bad. I'm still planning on buying this system to add to my Neo Geo collection.

  • its like your waiting to hear the dial tone when tryin to get on the internet through a phone jack. can you imagine if it actually played that sound while loading......GAH!!!

  • Ridicolous load times!

  • wow thats some of the worst loading times ive ever seen. and wtf is up with the characters? they look fucking retarded,,just give me AoF for SNES

  • Not sure what loads slower, the Neo Geo CD or the 3DO lol

  • neva thought such forever loading exist.....U may forget that U are playing some times!!

  • OMG I have the AES NEO Geo got it in 1993 instant load no wait times. The CD version is really bad no wonder it failed. neo Geo logo then now loading, pick character, now loading, press kick - now loading, block - now loading.

  • It's not so bad.

  • Exactly! Purchase the double-speed Neo-Geo CDZ system and the load times are even faster.

  • I just bought a Neo Geo CD in its original packaging from ebay.

    Paid $230 Australian including shipping.

    So fuckin pumped!!!!!!

  • is that ken from street fighter? at 0:31

  • no that's ryo, from king of fighters.

  • Dear God. Well, er, at least the music is great. :S

  • Me recuerda a los tiempos dela casetera del Atari lol

  • Neo geo cart is the way to go, screw the single speed cd, fucking slow as snail.

  • ehh screw the paying for an overpriced console and cart, money's tight these days anyway

  • Those loading times are INSANE! Aw.. Makes you feel bad for SNK, such a good company as well - I'm glad people are buying up thier PS2 collections and still collecting thier systems.

  • wow i always new the neo geo cd had long loading issues, this is the first time i ever seen it and realised just how long it is!

    lucky i have a aes

  • ロードの間、冗談抜きでトイレでウンチできるよ!

    やったね!お得だね!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! here's his translation>

During the loading, I can go take a shit No kidding!

    We did it too!

  • long loading times...and inferior to the AES version because the characters are a lot smaller on the CD version.

  • In a bizarre twist, there was some games (like KOF 94 or Double Dragon) where the loading time could take only 1 or 2 seconds if both players choose the same character/team and the fight is in their stage. I think the game would read everything in the same track and only one time, and so all this speed.

  • Yeah, there also another thing(it is actually a trick used by SNK to fool the players in NGCD), When you first start the game(eg. Samurai Showdown 2) It will start a long loading screen before you get the Menu. Once it finished(*It already loaded all the sprites of Haoumaru, Cause SNK knows that 80% of the player would choose him for the first time they play the game @_@) so if you choose him, you'll find that the loading would be very fast, but if you choose another player it would be slow

  • This reminds me the system for KOF 95: when you start the first game after turn the console on in team battle, the cpu will choose the official teams (terry, andy & joe, or ryo, robert & takuma) because of this trick; if you lose and dont continue, it will build teams randomly from now on.

  • OMG....... what the fxxK? i dont know about neogeo cd games,,, but the loading time for this game really shit.

  • Omg never seen a game load so much! lol It ruins the game

  • Actaully, there were games on the PSOne which much worse loading times ;)

  • hey neogeo Cd was FAR cheaper than neogeo AES. so you can't blame them for trying..

  • man naigella can cock a meal with these loading times

  • Remember,Sega CD and this system had what, 1X drives? Maybe 2X? 150K/second or so?

  • 00:02:57.841

I clocked the load times at just under 3 minutes... in a video that's 5 minutes and 17 seconds long.

I'd feel bad if it weren't so fucking hilarious.

  • Wow, that sucks. Was this common for the console?

  • my god, wtf?????? Are people on crack for even buying this?

  • The worst loading time ever has to be Soldier of Fortune for the Sega Dreamcast.

  • damn, with this time loading, cartrige is better than that

  • good god, almost as bad as Mega Race when you die (over 30 seconds before you can try again).

  • Yeah, WTF with that?

  • yep very slow fucking load times

  • this is the reason neo geo failed.

  • yes

  • The reason why neo geo cd failed not neo geo.

  • Idiot.

The Neo Geo didn't fail. This is the Neo Geo CD.

The Neo-Geo MVS system had no loading time at all.. but didnt' have arranged soundtracks and wasn't as cheap.

The reason SNK went bankrupt? Emulation.

  • You don't think SNK went bankrupt because of no major success of its home and hand-held consoles? Maybe the downfall of Arcades? Or maybe not going in a direction that interested modern or casual gamers?

Emulation may have had an impact on profits but they were going bankrupt regardless.

  • Actually, there are three main reasons a console will 'fail':

    1) The system SUCKS, as is the case with this, Jaguar, 5200, and more.

    2) Too much machine for the time. See: Neo AES, PS3, and to a lesser extent the Dreamcast.

    3) Marketing blunders. Prime examples are Saturn, DC, CD-i, 3D0.

32X and Sega CD aren't listed here because they're just add-ons for the Genesis.

  • Add the Virtual Boy buddy.

BTW, I think the Dreamcast was not that bad. The problem is that, at that time, people did not trust in Sega anymore after the Sega Genesis (due to the addons) and the Saturn.

  • You have a point on the Dreamcast.

The DC's failure is a very strange case, since the system itself was absolutely awesome.

If I had to choose 3 reasons it went, they'd be:

    1) Lack of trust in SEGA after the addons/Saturn,

    2) PS2 hype drawing in the Sony fanboys (when the PS2 was inferior in almost all respects) and

    3) Piracy hitting it hard. Seriously, once selfbooting was discovered, who actually BOUGHT DC games after that? Be honest.

  • Are you crazy?

the reason was the Asiatic Crisis!!

  • Goddamnit, even the win screen needs to load.

  • i liked how the CD versions of most NeoGeo games had arranged soundtracks tho. some of the best music you'll hear.

i have a NeoGeo CD, but I mainly bought it for Bust-A-Move (SNES version sucks) and League Bowling. those 2 games load once at the very beginning and then that's all lol mainly cuz the ISO for them is under 10MB each :-P then again I'm used to SNK load times after playing ports of their games on my PlayStation and import Sega Saturn.

  • At least the games were cheaper

  • Damn, those load times pwn recent Smackdown Vs. Raw games lol.

  • Fu....ing Loading X(

  • anybody notice the sprite size is smaller than the neo cart?

  • that was one of the differences between the cart and CD versions.

  • fucking loading time pissed me off

  • that is a LOAD of loading time, and yes, the new consoles DO have load times, my friend even timed a COD4 PS3 load time with a stopwatch, it took 4 minutes and 30 seconds to load.

  • Maybe you shouldn't have gone for the Ultimate KO. That way you could get another round in and get your 5 mins worth of waiting time LOL.

  • SNK has almost never dealt with CD loading correctly in any of their ports to the Saturn/PSX/NGCD. It seems SNK always flush the system memory on every screen change instead of caching elements that are in use from screen to screen, like the stage background. SNK finally utilized caching with KOF99 on the PSX as character changes between rounds were fast, unlike previous KOF on the PSX. Oh, the NGCD version of AOF3 does have smaller character sprites; guess 4MB RAM just wasn't enough.

  • ... wow. Those load times are a complete piss take. Other than CD quality music, are there any advantages of the CD version of a game compared to the Neo Geo version?

  • Sadly, no. The music was one of the few (scratch that, only) advantages.

There were a handful of exclusive / arrange games released for the console, but it was largely considered a failure.

  • not really, on cd versions there are also some animations from charakters are missing!!

  • "You don't actually see any loading screens on new gaming consoles"

    I take it you don't own a PS3 then?

  • Nope, I don't have one....but how did you know that!? :P

Is there a noticeable loading time in it!? @_@

  • A lot of games on the PS3 take about 15 minutes to install the first time you play them, like capcom titles and GTAIV.

They're also load slower than other formats as Blu Ray's don't read as quickly as DVD's just yet.

  • how do that??? robert desperate move

  • (While Flashing) f,hcf + kick (B)

The trick is you need to sort of let the stick/pad go neutral before hitting kick.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope I do, and games do take some time. Taking longer now, my BD drive is dying. My pc loads games very quick! with a 3gb per second sata hdd @ 7200 rpm, 2gig ram @ 800 mhz, and a 24 x DVD drive ( I really only play games from hard drivE) its very quick, faster than console!

  • THAT IS WAY TO MUCH LOADING TIME!!

im glad that i have my AES^^

  • Now that brings back memories of frustration and a damn good reason why I switched to the MVS

  • i remember when i play it for the first time, the neo geo cd controller suck ass :PPPPP

  • this is a horrible example seeing as how it was one of the later bigger AES games they ALSO put on the NGCD so what do you expect with fluid detailed sprites like those? fast load times on a 1X CD drive???

  • "Fluid detailed sprites" BUT with missing frames of animation also.

I'll take the Neo Geo AES ANYTIME!!!

  • DRAGON BALL Z for PS2

was horrible LOAD TIMES. I though it froze a couple of times

  • Wow!

and i thought the saturn's fatal fury 3 loading was bad =P

  • holy fuck, that's the longest load time ever. Luckily i owned a dreamcast which barely had any loading, and psx's loading were decent as well

  • A la mierda tarda una banda en cargar me hace acordar a la epoca del la PSX

  • nothing beats the halo 1 load time. i swore that it took like 3 mins to load! that is insane.

  • Sound tracks are awesome on the Neo CD, far better than the AES. Older games are fine, newer higher meg count games like this suffer.

  • by the way you are a good player

  • thats very interesting,, I love this game and "the CD version improved music",,,,,,,,,,

  • Ouch, those loading times are irritatingly long.

If it was released on PC Engine CD or Sega CD, then I bet it will surpass those long loading times.

  • i usually only play my NeoGeo with my best friend so we just talk while waiting for it to load. oh well. i'm glad i got to save money by burning the games. if i'd never found that out then i wouldn't own a NGCD right now :-D

  • hmm... this would be pretty funny for a forum thread: "Things you do while your Neo-Geo CD loads."

  • PEEING, and getting COKE

  • the game would be worth it on NGCD if it was EXACTLY the same as the cart version, but even then with the semi-slow gameplay you get even then it's like >_>

  • Wow. And I thought Soldier of Fortune on the Dreamcast took AGES to load anything.

Doesn't take away the fact this game rocks. :)

  • The CDZ does help a little on this game. Turns 20 seconds into 12 seconds. May not sound like a lot but it does make it more bearable. Some games which is weird it can do 30% faster while others it can actually do 80% faster. Makes no sense. The CDZ just has faster cache rate (roughly 1.75x), not a dedicated 2x drive like some thought.

  • I would want see Wang in action..he was in a background of the kof 2002.

  • In that Ireland stage eh? I love the music for that stage!!

  • *Hugs My AES* No loading Time!

  • shut up money bags

  • This reminds me of the load times in Sonic Next Gen for the 360/PS3

  • Damn it has to load all those frames for that walking animation for each of those characters. Does anyone agree that they shouldve went thru with a cartridge cd hybrid system where just music and video came off the cd and everything else off the cartridge. Even hard drives wouldnt be that fast. Unless they are scsi.

  • This is funny no joying around.

  • omfg... 15 minutes for just a 2 minute fight

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZzZzzzzzZZZzZ

  • dang the loading time makes me wanna do home work

  • this video is actually pretty funny. and it reminds me of my high school days...haha

  • This is also the reason why I rarely play my King of Fighters '96 CD on my PSX.

Where is the excitement if you have to wait so long for the game to load?!

  • lol... you know what, I actually study for my courses in those damn long loading screens :P

  • With such long loading times, I bet you passed your course with flying colors.

  • It takes time even for a dialog!!!! what a shit!

  • for a tiny cut scene the loading time are long.

  • That's hideous. *Hugs his AoF3 cart*

  • horrible loading time. totally destroys the arcade play. If that is not enough the size of the fighters is also smaller and a few animations are also missing. Big thumbs down for the stupid cd version.

  • Yeah, Waiting that long and what will you get!?? You'll find that Stages are smaller than the Arcade, Smaller character size (No real zooming in AOF3 in NGCD, Only the stage get zoomed but the character size remain the same!).... and some characters sprites has been removed cause the console can't handle it :/

    e.g:

No cats are walking in Kasumi stage

When Robert's life gauge reached red... His standing pose will be changed while in NGCD it's doesn't

  • Good thing I play the arcade version....
