  • SUBLIME

  • not an iwama ryu man myself but this really looks good.

  • Very beautiful and powerful.

  • Excelent vid! Please upload more!

  • First off all - Dont´yes and right me Maheshwarananda. There are many ways of reaching harmony, but the training shown on your link is an absolute disillusion. The moment someone would try to destroy your daily life you would be helpless and therefore not able to escape or take control of the situation meaning that harmony is not preserved. Furthermore the name Ki Aikido is a misunderstanding. AI KI DO - you can read yes ? Ki is an integrated part of Aikido as taught by Ueshiba. lol yourself

  • Well it´s apparent that many people is not regarding Aikido as a true Martial Art. I´ts also easy to understand, due to the many "sloppy" aikido videos on the Net. Aikido Techniques derives from Samurai´s Styles and includes Weapons. Many styles today forget this interrelation and therefore miss out on essentials. Applying a technique on a a strong opponent who is not moving is essential - just like cutting with a Katana. These basics are major in the Dento Iwama Ryu Style.

  • yes you are right häste, aikido, means the way to harmony, so no wonder many do not regard it primarily to some sort of fighting technique. you have the right to hallucinate that you can defend yourself with many other martial arts, like shaolin, jeet kun do, wing chun etc. but again that is an illusion. It maybe works with your fellow Iwama people, or some danish drunks but doubltly not to others. it s bit stiff. lol

  • there are peoples with a very powerful aikikai Style like Tissier

  • Please to watch carefully as the person throwing matches the speed and the direction of the attack while compromising the balance of the attacker. The attacks are formulaic and predetermined, but the responses to the attacks are comprehensive and versatile. Openings appear as self-control is lost.

  • no dancing, no aikikai, yes kokyu, yes iwama ryu

  • ممتاز فن الأيكيدو إيواما الأصيل

  • Is this art effective.? Or is Karate better for example

  • Depends on what your goal is. One on one unarmed barfight. karate would be adequate. I took it aswell as Aikido.

3 on one dogpile against armed opponents, or possibly someone you don;t want to harm physically (Rookie cop, out of control child, drunk friend) Aikido is the better choice. Aikido training can improve your Karate and vice versa. It's the person that prevails and survives, not the art.

  • i love aikido

  • It's a very small mind that can only see it as combat or not. And that small mind in generally wrong.

  • I cant believe that people still think what comes out of the hombu is a MARTIAL ART. never saw one demo from that place that looked effective. Trust me Sillaballa if the uke decided to switch to a more fighting role he would have had been in casulaty. felt it many times, trust me you only want to attack as told.

  • So, who do you see that does more of a martial art of Aikido than what comes out of Hombu? IMHO, it seems to me we all end up at the same destination regardless of style. Regarding "attack as told" do you try to change to a more fighting role? And if so, how and at what point? Would you switch to a kick in a demo after the nage indicates he/she wants a tsuki?

  • Judge is easy. To prove, that cost years.

  • Actually, this is not hombu.

This is Iwama ruy, they have split from hombu.

  • you should go to an Iwama Ryu Aikido Dojo and join some classes before judging it. You have no clue.

  • I agree that from most aikido demonstrations, that is the case. But if you are incapable of seeing whats going on in this video, then you know nothing about martial arts.

  • I disagree with both Zara and Saul -- in complimenting one person, you don't have to belittle another person...

I and I'm sure others who enjoy the style of Saito Soke have certain issues with the way Moriteru Doshu illustrates technique.

I'm not saying Hitohiro Soke is all that is and ever will be aikido... :) but he is dedicated to a true personal study of aikido fundamentals, like his father. It's a beautiful thing.

  • Both are budo

  • you have to be kiddinmg to perceive hombu as budo

  • ı also commented on the aikiken vıdeo of h.saito as a reply to a man who claimed that it is not budo.I told him ıf you play with bamboo sticks by scoring points ıf would be budo ıf u do it for personal development.Same for this issue, probably we have different budo views. On the other hand saito is tough,ı like his style.

  • these are not exluded to this style or sensei...all aikido is good aikido , so sign into one near you!

heaven and earth is under and above

  • Hitohiro Saito sensei makes everything looks so easy.

Sad Aikikai lost this guy. Far better than Moriteru sensei, with all respect.

  • very simple yet very effective techniques...

  • They are simple to the eye!, not quite when you have to apply them on ki no nagare to a bigger opponent ;)

  • Man this video is amazing, Saito sensei is incridible, did you now the name of this song, can you tell me, thanks a lot

  • it is from Kodo (trad. japanese drums). CD is called Warabe. Song: "Bird Island".

    Regards

    Volker

  • Hitohiro Saito Sensei is amazing!!!
