  • Well...EVERYONE knows you never serve fresh rat on sliced tomatoes...it simply isnt done!!. Kudos for Blanche for recognizing this culinary faux pas!!!

  • The spinning wheel chair with a battered Joan Crawford crying in supreme

persicution and hunger. Bette Davis was a perfect imperfect sadistic sister!

that loved humiliating and demeaning Joan into a basket case of aging nuts.

  • What I want to know is...who cleaned up the spill?

  • There's simply nothing subtle about this movie, is there??

  • The movie is cheap and too long. But, Bette is hilarious playing a caricature of herself.

  • LMFAO 1:58 Joan Crawford panics by rolling around in circles in her wheelchair! That, coupled with the cackling and Joan's gasping makes this scene hilarious.

  • oooooh bette was evil but she's my all time fave actress :) brilliant, love her lol

  • this is coming from a gay guy, they were both pretty

  • @tom14405 They were both pretty but in diff ways..and as Norma Desmond would say...they had "FACES:"

  • bette is awsome..so sadistic..

  • Joan was a far better actress than Bette any day of the week!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome

  • I thought they were great actresses but were not pretty.

  • Joan Crawford is one of the greats thats for sure, this woman could cry, laugh, sing, dance, scream at the drop of a hat, whatever the director wanted,Miss Davis is amazing too,but dont overlook Crawford

  • That witchy-poo cackling old hag laugh gets me EVERY TIME! LoL!

  • You can always smell a rat . Only time will tell if this is a ' rat ' movie or maybe a ratty high drama .

    SPC .

  • love this film

  • I love this movie so much, just got into it again after not seeing it since I was 9. My sister and I were talking about it this weekend (and no we don't hate each other, she's one of my closest friends). Then on Saturday I made up both PB&J sandwiches and put two fake rubber roaches on top of hers (inspired by this of course but I didn't have a fake rat). She didn't freak out like Blanche, she and I both laughed more like Jane. Then she said "I know I should freak out, but I just can't!" XD

  • I want to know who thinks of this? It's perfect. Especially with the dynamic of these two. Damn good movie.

  • Brilliant acting!

  • I was a teenager when I watched this movie for the first time, and it has been remaining so strongly on my mind. And now I see that acting of these actresses is great.

  • ineresting thing, I may have been totally disgusted by everything she did but if I were there with her I'd literally be laughing with her during this entire scene. It's just so hysterical. Imagine hearing several people laughing at once here,...the poor woman in the wheel chair! lol

  • LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! sounds like Bette is snorting like a pig @1:57-1:58

  • she is a monster but we love her

  • DELICIOUS!!!

  • At 01:40 Bette's outburst of laughter is absolutely classic. So natural.

I bet in real life Bette Davis was not the mushy, sentimental type so acting out this scene probably came easy to her.

  • @cheeriosinabowl Bette Davis was a bitch in real life. But she was just simply incredible on the screen. Coincidentally enough, the same applies to Joan Crawford.

  • @cheeriosinabowl Did you see her in the Dark Victory? another great film!

  • that laugh has to be the best part in the movie, it never fails to crack me up lol

  • @ andygin your dam right!! I wish we kan bring all those actores back to our date specially bette wich is my faveit actress :)

  • film makers cant do these things any more because they dont have proper actors. These days we are bombarded with "celebs" i.e. Slutty women & peci men that have not got a brain but have the drive to pursue a celeb life. I (don't) wonder where in film or entertainment history these modern nit wits will end up. I don't see good US tv any more. I see absolutely fantastic UK tv but all is in the past Downton Abbey. WEST WORLD WAKE UP. WE HAVE TO WAKE UP OR WE END UP LIKE THE SPHINX IN EGYPT.

  • so lovely.... ahahaha

  • this movie is so rare to find on dvd =( thanks for posting clips!

  • @shefellout check your local Target, if you have one, they have it there!

  • INOLVIDABLE ESCENA-------------

  • I love how she leaves the room then just waits for her reaction.

  • Bette was hot when she was younger...geez louise!

  • @jfilesbooks Bette Davis didn't care about being hot and wasn't afraid to get old...she wanted to be memorable. And she was.

  • @jfilesbooks

Joan Crawford was too!,both of them were very attractive, but here..not so much

  • @955pokerface no Joan has NEVER been pretty. She wasn't ugly but she wasn't pretty either.

  • @imaStonesFan

Joan wasnt an Bette was? if anything Bette was only attractive and Joan WAS beautifal, look at pics of her 1930-1942 she was gorgeous!

  • @955pokerface well i guess people just have different taste. Please don't get me wrong i didn't say she was ugly its just i don't think she was what u call pretty.

  • Joan Crawford was brilliant in this scene.

  • im so glad they didn't like each other in real life. the scenes are so poweful and gripping thanks to it.

  • I love this scene oh my got greaattttttttttttttttttt

  • These are some of the funniest comments on the planet.

  • This one of those old Spanish style Hollywood semi-mansions from the 40's where the inside doors opened outward. Wide stairs, too.

    Man, was that Jane mean.

  • I think Bette just should have given Joan a wire hanger... That would have been even scarier. :)

  • yuk.

  • Bette Davis is da bomb!

  • at 1:35, its funny when baby jane laughs xD

  • For me the funniest part of this scene is 2)when bette laughs and b) when Joan wheels the chair around in circles since she can't actually run XD!!!

  • i always laugh with bette when joan gets scared

  • Joan Crawford <3

  • There'll never be another Bette Davis. This has to be one of the most dysfunctional onscreen sibling rivalries.

  • @DarkSailorStudios dysfunctional offscreen too!!!

  • God, she's like The Joker.

  • Why's Blanche being so picky? Rat is one of my favorite meals. Maybe she doesn't like it rare? LOL.

  • OMG Bette Davis is a devil in this movie! LOL! she is awful!

  • its juliet from lost

  • Why was that woman spinning around in that chair like that??

  • @1000WattSmile because she felt helpless..and going insane

  • @1000WattSmile She was testing her circular motion to work for Hitchcock in ' Vertigo 2' as a 2nd unit camera tech.

  • i loves me some bette davis

  • nice drifting at the end

  • Possibly their finest performances,& if we're to believe all the allegations of on-set rivalry & one-upmanship between them both then it would seem a miracle the film ever got completed. It's 1 film which is in my dvd collection which I'd rescue from a fire! You wouldn't be this cruel to me if I wasn't in this wheelchair.

    But ya ARE,Blanche,you ARE!

  • Great Clip from a wonderful movie! I love the way Bette plays with her bracelets and then that maniacal laugh when she hears Blanche in distress!

  • Surprised the ole girl didn't break a rib laughing. You can tell that laugh was the real McCoy! Wonder how many retakes Bette Davis asked for.

  • Bette Davis what a legend I just love her

  • Brilliant movie and I couldn't get Bette Davis' freaky portrayal of Jane Hudson out of my brain for like an entire day. If you think that's spooky watch her impersonating her sister over the phone or that scene where she goes crazy and starts singing "I've written a letter to daddy" . Her character is pretty much nothing but pure mean spirited insane evil for pretty much the whole movie.

  • bloody hell that's awful

  • Chef Ramsay would not be pleased....it looked kind of underdone.

    Legen-wait for it-Dary!

  • The way Jane opens that door before carrying in the tray is a dead give-a-way to what is in store for Blanche. Poor Blanche hungry and alone gone stark raving mad and all she could do was spin around in that wheelchair crying out loud while outside her bedroom she can hear Jane laughing hysterically at her.

If I were in that same position I'd probably do the same thing too. This movie is crazy good!

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • love the laugh!!!!

  • best laughs of all time: heath ledger as the joker, mark hamil (also as the joker interestingly) an b. davis as jane.

an what the heck is spinnin around in a wheelchair gonna do??

  • HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AHA HAAAAA HAAAAA ahHAAAAH haAA HAAA HAAA HAAA HAAA HAAAA AHHAA AAHHHH HAAAA HHAAAAA HAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAA ahahhAHHHHH HAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA AHHHHAAAAA HAAAA HAAAA LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LO LOMA LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! HAAAAAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA haaa HAAA haaahahhahhahaaaaa HAAAAA HHAAAA HAAA HAAA HAAAAAAA

  • I just love the movie. My all time fav..By the way, what's for lunch???

  • @rjsmth Me too : )

  • "Oh Blanche, ya know we got rats in the cella?" Bette Davis was the BEST at delivering a line.

  • Joan is "spinning" out of control. I wonder what Christina thought about this performance.

  • How does spinning in circles solve anything? Believe me, I've tried it. Sh_t don't work.

  • I would have whipped that bitches ass

  • that bitch spun out lol!! one of my favorite films.. i have the collectors dvd

  • i think the rat was pretty cute. :D

  • I think they both brought this on themselves. Baby Jane was so self-centered and spoiled, she couldn't let go of fame and resented her sister when the spotlight shone of Blanche. Blanche let her deep resentment resurface and doomed herself to that wheelchair.

  • oh boy i loved this film thanks for the reminder , it like fasten your seat belt its gonna be a bumpy night i think she said this also

  • get some sauce on it

  • @CreepyCrawlyCat that was so sweet, it made me cry

  • I remember seeing an old interview with Bettie Davis. She was bad mouthing Joan Crawford (the two hated each other) and the interviewer said "You should speak good of the dead". So in her classic Bettie Davis style she said....Joans dead...."good"....lol

  • i feel so bad for blanche :( but jane's cackle xD guilty pleasure summed up...

  • What a couple of old pros!!!!!!

  • Blanche didn't finish her din-din!

  • One of my favorite movies of all time. Thanks for sharing the clip!

  • @donmn763 this is movie is great i agree

  • Another classic horror movie with an important scene with food: watch?v=_y5YtyycXTQ

Creepshow. If you haven't seen it, bon apetit!

  • How unappreciative can you be. Does she not know how hard those bloody things are to catch. Ok, it was a little under cooked but she did say she'd given the cook some time off. No pleasing some people.

  • I hated Jane all way though the flim till the end, I felt deeply sorry for her.

  • @skinsisthebest2 Yes, but it was Blance who really was the evil one. She did that to herself and made Jane think it was her fault. Jane took care of her all those years out of guilt which made her even more insane. Blanche was always jealous of Baby Jane...

  • LuV..Luv this movie!!!!!!!!!!

  • I though this part was funny, I don't see any scary element in it

  • Oh Blanche, you know we got rats in the cellar?

No, but if you hum a few bars..:)

  • @02chevyguy No but if you hum a few bars = Hilarious!

  • McDonalds. Pa-ra-pa-pa-pa, I'm lovin it

  • my favorite scene! by the way blanche, you know we got rats in the cellar?????

  • Bon Appetite hee hee hee so funny.

  • why is she just spinning in circles??!

  • @themoonlitgoddess Because she needs to release her adrenaline. If she could walk, she would probably be running away. But she's in a wheelchair, and also won't leave her room. The only option left is spinning in circles until she wears herself out.

  • @themoonlitgoddess Hmmm...let's see if I can answer your question:

Your CRAZY and INSANE sister hasn't fed you in the past day and a half, and you're afraid to eat what she has given you.

    She killed your canary.

She found the note that was tossed outside, hoping the neighbors would see it and call for help.

She's playing multiple rounds of "Head Games" with you.

She's serving you a dead rat for your lunch.

I'd probably be banging my head against the wall!

  • @themoonlitgoddess I forgot one.

There's no way to call the police for help, because she pulled the phone cord out of the wall and took the phone out of the room.

  • Everybody seems to forget that it was BLANCHE who was the true evil one...trying to run over Jane and then letting a drunk Jane fall into dicrepitude because she believed BLANCHE'S LIE!

  • @lakevubud Right. People keep forgetting that and hate Jane, but Blanche is the true villian...

  • A food network first.Joan save your chocolates wisely..

  • At least Jane was courteous and thoughtful to put the rat on the plate with some decorative sliced tomatoes as garnish (same thing with the canary).

    Don't forget...presentation is very important. :)

  • @02chevyguy - you are diabolical, but in a good way! :)

  • @gravelandgrain100 Me? Diabolical? BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Naw, just an overly dry sense of humor and sarcasm ...my mentor is Bea Arthur (the "presentation" comment is from a GG episode...Season 2 "Bedtime Stories", the scene where Dorothy has bronchitis).

Also, for those who keep asking why Blanche is spinning around in her wheel chair, scroll down to where the comments are, click on number 6 and look for the comment I placed 8 months ago.

  • Fuck Blanche, the jealous bitch.

  • wait for it....wait for it....wait for it.....

  • Jane is so scary... poor Blanche...

  • Bette Davis certainly DESERVED the Academy Award that year for her portrayal of Jane. Why they gave it to Anne Bancroft ("The Miracle Worker") is beyond me (but it wouldn't be a big surprise if Joan Crawford had some "pull" with the nominations committee).

  • @02chevyguy It definitely should have gone to Bette Davis I never saw better acting than her acting in this movie---Excellence---She really had the TALENT

  • You bust your ass in the kitchen, and then they don't eat what you make!!It's frustrating as hell!!!Go ahead and eat your damned hot dogs and macaroni!!!But we all know what's in those hot dogs.......or do we????

  • So funny...and weird.

It's so funny that these two never got along in real life. They say Betty Davis was a real bitch to Joan Crawford, and Joan held her own...but it's funny that the company exects got these two together for this film....Hilarious.

  • Listen to Jane cackle at the end!

  • dang, i bet she was hungry. arrrrrrrg. no lunch for you.

  • What a bitch that was a low blow

  • wait which one is joan crawford?

  • @SoYahYah the one in the wheelchair

  • @SoYahYah Which one is Joan Crawford??? Are you kidding me???

  • @BuckeyeSecretary no i'm only 19 so i rly dnt know them

  • wow, the wheelchair spin was weird.

  • @StevenShields29 What's so weird about it? She was freaking out because of what happened.

  • Whats wrong with rats? They're good to eat as long as you cook them long enough to kill any bad bacteria.

  • lol rats and birds must be tasty with a side of tomatos

  • Rob Zombie said this was one of his favorite scenes in a horror movie, her laughing.

  • I just love how much Bette Davis and Joan Crawford really despised each other- great film!

  • omfg LOL !!!!

  • Wait for it...wait for it...THERE it is...ROFL!

  • She should have served up a couple together on that plate. Then it would have been a ratatouille. Wah.... wah ..... wahhhhh!

  • wheelchair rage.......

  • @sungoodness lolol

  • 2:00 CRACKING UP

  • So cool

  • God that laugh gets me everytime!!! How delisiously evil you are Jane...and I hate to love you hahaha...Oohhh...How I do love this movie...

  • @MissGarland18 ---one of the great classic horror movies------------ive watched this over and over---bette davis was excellent----both joan crawford too--------------bette davis was the devil in this movie thats for sure and that laugh---hysterical freaky as hell scary and funny---not funny just the laugh---she was psycho alright

  • @hru98 Haha she was a develish psycho wasn't she? Joan was great too...Great great movie all together =)

  • Fucking Hilarious Jane is my hero ( Only Joking).

  • The other scene was funny where Blanche wouldn't uncover the meal because she thought another rat was there, and when Jane finally was about to take the plate away, she lifted the cover and it was a real meal! Blanche was starving!LOL

  • GENIAL, me encanta esta escena y la risa loca de Jane

  • really does sound like elmo

  • Love it. Both actresses are brilliant in this scene -- but, of course, Bette Davis is MORE brilliant. The epitome of malicious glee!

  • Problem here is that Jane doesnt know how to cook. Rat should NEVER be served rare...the meat on a rat needs to be well done so that its succulant flavors can come out. She served this rat to Blanche..rare. I dont blame Blanche in the least for shoving this off the table..Id;ve done the same. Blanche is clearly reacting to how rare that rat is. Blanche is a first class cook...raw rat..god..how declasee

  • Whoa. Best nervous breakdown ever.

  • Why didnt Blanche eat that roll? It looks perfectly delicious!

  • lol jane just waits in the hall and fidgits with her bracelet....

  • Love how Jane says there are rats in the cellar.leaves the room...then goes and waits outside for Blanches reaction!!

  • : D

  • pqp isso é que eram atuações.

  • lol its funny how she laughs

  • @spotdathief

    it sure is!!! LOL!!!!!!

  • >_>

  • sounds like Elmo

  • @spotdathief I guess I'm a weirdo; everyone's saying how funny it is and I don't see any humor in her laughing or the scene, at all.

  • bette the greatest! actress of all time!!!!!!!! fasten your seat belts!!!! its gonna be a bumpy night

  • This is one of those films that makes you really want to scream at the characters (Jane in this case) so much that while you're watching the horror of the characters it aches.

  • @OldHollywood93 i know its creepy

  • @OldHollywood93 Joan Crawford's fear and Bette Davis' laugh----This was a perfect casting----Great acting for both----Bette Davis was a genius actress---Perfection

  • @hru98

Both were certainly good at their craft.

  • I would have told her, "bitch, if you put a dead rat on my tray", I will find a way to kill your fucking ass!"

  • A Great Film! Here Is Some Trivia:

During production, Bette Davis had a Coca-Cola machine installed on the set to anger Joan Crawford, whose late husband had been CEO of rival Pepsi-Cola and who herself was on the board of directors of that company.

  • yep, and in revenge, Joan put rocks in her pockets for the scenes where Bette had to drag her around- the two were bitches to each other in real life and in the film!

  • Yea I heard about that, here some more Trivia:

The scenes from Jane's early films that show her to be a flop as an actress are scenes from Parachute Jumper (1933) and Ex-Lady (1933). When Bette Davis heard that the crew was looking for poor footage of her from that time, she (half-jokingly) suggested that any of her films from the period would do

  • I love how she is just casuely admireing her braclet after trying to feed her sister a rat lmao..love bette davis

  • casually admiring

  • Bette Davis was great. It's funny as hell, but sad at the same time.

  • I saw 'Mommie Dearest' before I saw this movie. So yeah, I was rooting for Jane the whole time! :-)

  • Yes, Jane's laugh is hilarious. What a bitch though!
