Y&R was pretty much destroyed after Cassie's death. One of my favorite couples split up and they hooked Nick with Phyllis and it seemed like they showed them more than any other couple on the show for a while
LML really destroyed the show when she killed off all of the veterans of john abbott, cassie, and she would killed off nick too if he had not renewed the contract when he did.
in almost the 40 years the young and the restless has been on - this had to be one of THE saddest moments....... but as all of us know, things like this happen to us in real life............

I read an interview Camryn Grimes gave earlier this year to that when they filmed this scene that when it got to where Cassie died that when Sharon was laying across her she said even though she was suppose to be dead that she was actually crying. I believe that the whole cast was in the room during this scene and I think everybody was crying.
Tracy is now in the same position that Sharon's in. First the father's of their daughters die and then their daughters die. That leaves only Tracy and Sharon of those 2 triangles.
Think about it, the person you had a child with dies and then the child dies and that leaves only you. It must a complicated and horrible feeling.

It was later revealed that Cassie actually was upset about Frank dying because she realized that she'd never know him or if she's anything like him. Frank was also getting ready to go to court to discuss his rights to Cassie, but was murdered before he could take action. This made Cassie think that maybe Frank changed his mind about her, but now she'll never know for sure. Well, maybe she'll get to know him now, if he went to the same place that she's going, that is.
Cassie's death is a lot like the death of Dr. Mark Greene's in 2002 from the primetime drama, ER.
Mark died brain problems too. Only he had a tumor and while he was slipping away, he too was listening to a lullaby(the one he always sang to his 2 daughters). Mark Greene and Cassie Newman were both very beloved characters on the shows they were on.

That's what I said, they should have least put her in a coma so that way later down the line if the actress wanted to return, she can. Having her in a coma could have just been as effective as if she's dying.

The day Cassie died was the day I stopped watching Y&R. I cried for weeks & weeks. I was utterly devastated. Y&R hasn't been the same ever since. I mean, losing Cassie to bring in Gloria? Amber? Amongst other horrible characters whom provide NOTHING to the show. Cassie had a breath of fresh air and brought smiles to the show. Y&R changed forever when she died, tearing apart Nick & Sharon, soul mates. Y&R died in my eyes when Cassie died & Shick broke apart.
i completely agree! in an interview sharon case recentely did with SOD, she said that she and Joshua morrow were shocked that they were planning on killing Cassie off and they spoke to the executive producers about changing their minds. they obivously didn't listen. also, sharon case added that the show changed after Cassie died...backstage and on screen.
Im a grown man and I STILL bawl like a baby when I see this scene. Heart wrenching, I think Joshua Morrow is an extremely underated actor, Sharon Case is one of THEE best actors in daytime, and Camyrn Grimes is fantastic.

It was a very sad moment when Cassie left the show. I remember this clip and it was very sad to see her go. The actress who played cassie did very well during her stint at Y&R. Emmy Calaber performances for the 3 actors who were in the clip. Powerful stuff.

That's what makes this so interesting. Cassie was not Nick's birth child but he was, if possible, more devastated by her death than her own Mom (who was pretty devastated, too)

She was trying to drive Daniel's car home after a party cus he was drunk. She lost control and neither her or Daniel wore seat belts and the car ran off the road. Her heel got caught under the pedal which cleared Daniel from going to jail on murder. She told Nick before she died Daniel didn't do it. She did.
How ever this is just a guess that she might be on there or she might be in a movie who knows. I dont know honestly what happen to this marvelous actress but i am sure she is someone where around the area you guys have great night.
Cassie well proably be back in 2008 so dont worry too much she is worth such a great actress. I think she is with disney right now you might want to tune into the disney chanell to see her if you have disney channel.

Christian LeBlanc and Peter Bergeman where ROBBED, both actors had phenomenal years on Y&R. And why wasnt Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow nominated? Fine actors all the way around on that show.

No. Cassie's father was Frank Barrit (Sharon's highschool sweetheart). Nick adopted her when he married Sharon. But he was a father to her in everyway that counts.

They did show Sunset Beach up until they cancelled it.. But there aren't anymore I think, at least not from the US... We do have Home and Away from Australia and Emerdale from England... At least I think they air Home and Away...

The day Cassie died was the day I stopped watching Y&R. I cried for weeks & weeks. I was utterly devastated. Y&R hasn't been the same ever since. I mean, losing Cassie to bring in Gloria? Amber? Amongst other horrible characters whom provide NOTHING to the show. Cassie had a breath of fresh air and brought smiles to the show. Y&R changed forever when she died, tearing apart Nick & Sharon, soul mates. Y&R died in my eyes when Cassie died & Shick broke apart.

i completely agree! in an interview sharon case recentely did with SOD, she said that she and Joshua morrow were shocked that they were planning on killing Cassie off and they spoke to the executive producers about changing their minds. they obivously didn't listen. also, sharon case added that the show changed after Cassie died...backstage and on screen.

Im a grown man and I STILL bawl like a baby when I see this scene. Heart wrenching, I think Joshua Morrow is an extremely underated actor, Sharon Case is one of THEE best actors in daytime, and Camyrn Grimes is fantastic.

Sharon and Nick were the best. Although I stopped taping the show in September of 2001, I have Cassie's episodes from the beginning when she first aired as a 7 year old little girl.
My channel has tons of Nick and Sharon clips on it.

It was a very sad moment when Cassie left the show. I remember this clip and it was very sad to see her go. The actress who played cassie did very well during her stint at Y&R. Emmy Calaber performances for the 3 actors who were in the clip. Powerful stuff.

I like how they used the classic Y&R theme to play along with her death scene. Cassie witll be missed but not forgotten. I remeber the summer following Cassie's death with a blast Nick wanted to kill Daniel for he thought he did to Cassie.

That's what makes this so interesting. Cassie was not Nick's birth child but he was, if possible, more devastated by her death than her own Mom (who was pretty devastated, too)

A long time ago,I mean a very long time ago..Grace Turner(A friend of Sharon) told Sharon and Nick that she found Sharon's long lost daughter Cassie. Nick at first had a hard time accepting Cassie at first,but through thick and thin,he soon welcomed her as his own. :)

She was trying to drive Daniel's car home after a party cus he was drunk. She lost control and neither her or Daniel wore seat belts and the car ran off the road. Her heel got caught under the pedal which cleared Daniel from going to jail on murder. She told Nick before she died Daniel didn't do it. She did.
