@C94B Well, since you have to have the Green cable, which goes directly to your monitor, and this (that he has in the video), which goes into the blue hole (line in) then it would not work if your pc was off. The visual would, but not the sound.

I baught an HDMI VGA cable but it was not the microsoft version for the 360 , it had an hdmi output on one side and a VGa output on the other side ,i tried to plug in my 360 with my pc monitor but It didn't work , i had no image nor sound ....was it the wrong cable and doesn't fit with a 360 , or there is another problem ? ..Pleas ehelp me , and thank ya'all

Two things (and I'll go ahead and say I think I'm screwed).

1. My 360 is connected to monitor via HDMI

2. I can't toggle between inputs, it simply displayed whichever device was powered on first.

Any creative (and cheap) ways to get my audio to come out somewhere? I have a Logitech surround sound system connected to my PC.

So, I am trying to hook my xbox 360 to a 40" pc monitor that I bought. I am able to get the video to with the normal composite cables that came with the 360 and with a hdmi to dvi converter cable but no matter what I try I cannot get the sound to work in any way, shape, or form.

I see the point.You don't need a splitter if your speakers don't have an input on them.You basically just plug the adapter into the Line In jack on the sound card,then set up the rest on the computer.

Thanks alot man!!! helped me alot, :)!!! i did everything except enable my line in volume thanks to you now i haev xbox audio on pc speakers!!!!, ok for windows 7 users, type (Change System Sounds) on your start menu search once you see it click it, then click on the Recording Tab, you should see a icon that says Line in with the picture of the 2 Rca male plugs, click it and then choose the Listen tab, enable (listen to this device) and then choose the playback through this device arrow....

You click on the Sound icon on the right bottom side of the window 7 bar.. click it and go to Mixer> Then click on system sounds..if u have done method 1 correctly.. there should not be a problem..Click on recordings..there will be a Picture that says line in plugged in.. Right click it and go to properties

Click listen

** AND TICK THE BOX THAT SAYS LISTEN TO THIS DEVICE..

Dude thank you sooooo much. I recently bought a pair of speakers and wanted to use them. My built-in computer speakers were descent but whenever I played Certain games like Call Of Duty they would sound so blurry.
