I simply cannot fathom how the Pyramids at Giza and Christ the Redeemer statue can be placed in the same category. Its a landmark and an iconic image, but I frankly, I dont find anything "wondrous" about it.

They are saying Egypt already has the name Seven Wonders earned(ancient)and eventhough its not a new wonder its an old wonder, which is kind of confusing. Truly speaking this shouldnt have been a worldwide vote by regular people.  BRAZIL definetely DOESNT belong there!!! Sorry im Catholic, but its wrong!!! And Mexico's Chichen Itza is just a small pyramid in a so so location, its nice but nothing much.

Even our very own Rice Terraces of the Philippines (primitive people who plant rice on the side of the mountains with their own bare hands!!) is not anymore included in the list. As a matter of fact, WE ARE NOT AWARE THAT THERE IS A NEW NOMINATION AND ELECTION GOING FOR THE NEW SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD. At any rate, I believe that our country has its own pride. Let us keep this pride and be as well awed and amazed by the Seven Wonders of the World, anyway, this is OUR WORLD. Good day to all.

Somehow I agree with queenhiba (with regards to the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt). It is quite interesting to note that the oldest standing structure and (once had) a reputation of being One of the Wonders of the World is not included in the list.
