  • I liked the part where you went up the stairs

  • It cannot get better than those stability stone walls provide!

  • @ScapeKings

you do know that there is no difference between 14 and 15, but that there is between 15 and 16? Which is why it is smarter to choose 14 or 16 rather than 15 :).

  • It's easy for a mage who can cast blindness. Just keep casting that spell at him until he fails the save, it doesn't turn him hostile, then just hit him with ranged weapons whilst he just stands there.

  • @ScapeKings Indeed, however, paladins do have "priest spells" just like rangers even though they aren't called priests.

Btw, I'm writing this because I like do so about Baldur's Gate (not because I like to contradict people).

  • @ScapeKings In fact, the funny thing is that extra wisdom on a paladin is useless (except for lore).

18 wis on a paladin doesn't give any extra priest spells. So 14 is just about as good.

  • Heh i remember after playing the game "100" times i killed Firebead the same way just for fun, but i never found out if he was still dead in Beregost.Maybe you know it?!

  • @Banefane He's still alive when you get to Beregost.

  • my 'otel's as clean as an elven...agggghhhh!!!

  • I did this a few times, but with a fighter it really does work better if you just go outside candlekeep, nab a potion of speed of imoen (and ring of wizardry at FAI if you are so inclined) and then export/import/use stair trick but when you face him downstair instead of doing that angle thing you did to prevent him hitting you just run rings around him machine-gunning him to death with potion+bow.

It is way more fun however to never do this kind of stuff.

  • that's lame :(

  • So I assume that by running up and down the stairs you are forcing him to waste all his spells without taking any damage.

  • @gamewizard You truly are a game wizard ;).

  • yeah a fighter in BG with 10 or higher int is useless because 1. you'r not a mage 2.in BG2 and throne of bhaal int can help cause there is the maze spell.what that does is it traps the person to a plane of (forgot) and is stuck in a lyabrinth (maze)and with high a int you can get out sooner but the smaller your int is the longer it takes to get out.3.to people who commented about the int , let me say this, maybe he was in a hurry, maybe he doesn't care about the stats well i ran out of character

  • 2:44 Winthrop: ...FUCK THIS IM OUTTA HERE!!!11

  • nice shit

  • Addendum: This is all assuming that this is a serious character you made and wasn't made solely for the purpose of this video.

  • @ZedekOfLP101 I probably could have removed the character creation. It was not necessary.

  • Your stats don't really make sense man. You should use Int as a dump stat on a Fighter by leaving it at 3 and using the points from it to max Cha and then use the remainder of points in Wis for saving throws. If you're multiclassing that's a different story, but the best straight-up Fighter stats are the following, using my character as an example (Wis can be 3 to 18, depends on your roll): Male / Human / Fighter / Lawful Good / 18/20 Str, 18 Dex, 18 Con, 3 Int, 12 Wis, 18 Cha / Long Sword ++++.

  • @ZedekOfLP101 sucks..your character would be a total moron with 3 int :)

+ he does not have dialog options in bg 1 with int 3

+ charisma 18 and int 3 makes totally no sense. a total idiot that is amazingly charming. man with 3 int you are as clever as a 3 year old child...

i know i know, powergaming.... well, you suck.

  • @wieselboy Intelligence is useless for a Fighter. Cha affects dialog, not Int (in BG, not D&D). I mean shit at least some Wis helps with saving throws. Using a useless attribute for your class as a dump stat will result in a better character. I don't care that a bunch of fat guys with neckbeards think I'm a munchkin because I want the strongest character possible because I don't talk to myself at my computer and call it roleplaying. Save it for P&P games such as D&D and Vampire. Peace.

  • @ZedekOfLP101 will gives no saving throws in bg2, its not implentet. when you have a char with int <9 your char cant speak propably in bg. test it. your dialog options will be like "ohoh, me likes fighting" or "yes, bear good" stuff like that. and yes, high charisma gives more dialog options sometimes, but not with 3 int :) because you get a totally different dialog set. also high int and high wis can give you more dialog options at some high wis and high int chars. but its really rare...

  • @wieselboy thats on neverwinter nights asshole, wisdom and int have no purpose is you area fighter

  • @Wayavas1337 yeah, first of all learn to write. than read the manual. guess you have a int by <9 by yourself.

  • @wieselboy i always make 3 int chars and it makes no difference to me anyways, plus this dialogs dont change the story so only an asshole with 3 int ( irl ) like you would give int to a fighter.

  • @Wayavas1337 its indeed nwn not bg, tested it. sorry i mixed that up!

  • So hard ta find decent folk nowadays..

  • @ZoZim57

    Your a genius :P haha

    Love this.

  • Haha i remember doing this all the time when i wanted to level characters (because i didnt know the cheats).

  • err i dont like that

you are using game errors for your own benefit

  • hmm, some lame way to start the game

  • you can also kill him in a similarly cheesy manner by shooting a bullet at him, pause, click on him to talk, rinse and repeat until dead.

  • Hm.. Any tips for a Mage? Have you tried Carsormyr's method? I'm thinking about re-installing the first one again when our desktop comes back :]

  • I also used that strategy. U can kill many enemys that way in the game. Even if they ar much higher lvl like here.

  • Oh, you use that tactic? I always played as mage, and used darts and a few magic missiles.

...The darts used to interrupt his spellcasting.

  • nice job figuring that out, will have to try it out myself

  • its better with a bow

  • Well it depends on the class...

  • Lamer

  • very very old!

  • The Real way to do this is to buy a sling and sling him while you walk around in circles so that way you don't risk being injured either.

  • Magic Missle, dude. Always hits you.

  • @Chronische

You do this after you've gone up the stairs several times mid spell to deplete his spells :)

  • i really don't see the point on killing him. ok u get xp but, (O.-)? i feel that using ur skills to the game is better than cheating/glitching

  • It would be impossible to kill him with certain classes unless you follow this method because you cant reach a high lvl enough to get to kill him before you leave Candelkeep. 2 700xp is big by the way and he leaves you money and a good robe.

  • @Zozim57 i killed him with 1 lvl mage mate -.-

  • @Zozim57 i killed him with 1 lvl mage mate -.- and i didnt use that way i simply was better

  • @maegeaR How did you do it?

  • Those are skills, you twat.

Cheating means utilizing means the developers didn't make explicitly available or intended in a standard game not to be available for the players. Packet sniffing, model replacing, data file modification, trainers and of course cheat codes are all cheats.

Moving into a tactically superior position isn't cheating - it's just inferior AI.

Whatever makes you win is good.

  • actually, since the developers expressly created cheat codes for the players to use for fun, according to your logic cheat codes aren't cheating. One could argue that that's too appalingly ironic to be true. But in any case, it's still kinda cheap.

  • No. Developers didn't "expressly create cheat codes for players to use for fun". Cheat codes were and are used for game debugging. Every game has cheats - BG actually had access to a LUA console - for debugging purposes. It was left there so that players can reset stuck quests, and so that the developer may always do a trace on data.

You know when cheats qualify? When you get the cheat codes in the tutorial or the manual. However very few game devs do this nowaday.

  • I like how in 2 this wouldn't have worked as well. They can and will follow you up and down staircases< The way to do it in 2 would be to find a door and open it long enough to shoot a cloudkill spell in, then close it so they can't get you.

  • I used to level my mage on Firebead. It's possible to do from level 1, without wasting all firebead's spells or getting him stuck.

Just take blind as your first spell and skill in slings, buy a tonne of ammo from Winthrop. Stand in the corner under the staircase and cast blind on him then unload on him with your sling untill dead.

Loot him ID the robe from the priest not far from the inn, sell it or keep it. Then i'd just export my character and do it again lol

    Pre gatekeeper obviously.

  • Nice, I will try that.

  • LOL at Winthrop. Run fat man, run!

  • You know.. there's a potion of clarity up the stairs for a reason...

  • Yeah, thats a good point.

  • I love your comment so much.

  • but it works

  • i would just like to say it is not a cheat it looks fun cuz every1 els is mean saiying u cheat

  • It's not a cheat, but an exploitation of the game mechanics. Every game you play you better learn the game mechanics, so that you have a better chance of survival.

  • @Narrifani

i'm pretty sure the developers didn't mean you to fight any characters in a way they have no means to hit you back.

it may not be a cheat, but it's a cheesy game mechanic exploitation. anybody with a clear concience wouldn't do this.

  • Point #2: I already admited prior to your comment that I cheated (if you took the time to actually read the comments).

  • You do realize that Firebead can be found in beregost. He has a subquest that you would miss out on if you kill him in candlekeep and he is a lot easier to kill with a party which you will most likely have by the time you get to beregost.

I also find int amusing that you call evcatos else a cheater when you are clearly taking advantage of a glitch in your own video.

  • Point #1: You do realize that you can kill Firebead Elvenhair in both Candelkeep and Beregost in the same game (i.e Firebead won't disapear in Beregost after you killed him in Candelkeep). That is even with the latest patch because the structure of the game si made in such a way that the Firebead in Candelkeep and Beregost are actually 2 different creatures and so they aren't stored on the same file.

    Point #2:

  • Then using some hints or advices from experienced players would be also cheating. So that's no argument at all.

  • I am an experienced player, I did all subquests twice. Took me hell of a long time. Also try to actually read what i responded to jamnica2006 before judging me. I understood after I did the video that indeed, I cheated.

  • What you did here is also cheating.. or better said, exploiting game mechanics weaknesses. Like.. changing areas and getting him stuck on another NPC (pathfinding..).

    Not bad though. ;)

  • Perfectly true. But you can still use a fighter to rip his but off without cheating =) yessss!

  • Wrong.

    (en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Cheating_(video_games))

Cheating: Cheating in a video game is a process whereby a player of a video game creates an advantage beyond the bounds of normal gameplay, usually to make the game easier.

  • Much esayer to kill him:

Take a Fighter or a Thief or whatever you want to take. Skill in a ranged weapon and buy the weapon and ammunition.

Click on Firebead to talk with him but instantly stop and attack him. Check out, that you stand in front of the entrace of the Inn. Talk to him again, but stop (that's the Force Talk Bug, btw) and attack him again. For about 5 Seconds everytime you want to talk to him but dont do so, he will do nothing. When hes dead, get outta Inn and then again inside.

  • Yes, but it's cheating. You can do this on every NPC in the Game.

  • No, it's not cheating. It's glitching. Glitching =/= Cheating.
