@theawesomeness505 Horace may've been downshifting, which on some turbos will give you a boost since most turbos are more active in the higher RPM ranges.

Now, they never said that Horace had a turbo, but I swear that I can hear one on the audio.

(continuation) HFL was also a good movie, but unlike this, spoiled the whole plot and Herbie´s classic look - NASCAR is the worst part The latter could have been better and followed that movie, that's what I think

@JoaoPLPrestes Yea, the whole Nascar twist was a miserable attempt at mainstreaming it, though I thought HFL was just filled with montages and plot holes.

It was the best remake that Disney has done in comparison with HFL, because it is very close to the original film and lives up to the script with new plot, as the true origin of Herbie´s and the liquid metal mixed with the portrait of the wife of the its builder , which would have given it the personality whose mystery remained for years in all classic movies. @themaytagrepairman It can't, yea the new beetle (and the new new beetle) are quicker but the old one didn't fall apart after 3 months (certainly not once the warranty expired), plus if anything went wrong on the old one it was easy to fix, the new one... well the wheels are easy to change but thats it.

The whole planets nuts I tells ya, and despite all of this "go green nonsense" no car company has topped the 130mpg Honda Z600 as far as efficiency goes, but who cares? Its style that matters now, like in the 50's.

@1000guy1 In the first film Thorndyke tried to destroy Herbie, the only thing darker about this one is Simon who's just nuts, and Horace whos menacing sometimes but othertimes is oddly passive (like when he and Herbie traded paint).

@1000guy1 I hate how disney just forgot about this movie! They don't even make it on DVD just VHS from what I hear. Also they didn't even make much a reference to this movie in Herbie fully loaded, just one or two clips and that was it.

@1000guy1 Fully Loaded was just too obnoxious with all the CGI over Herbie whos rarely stock through out the film, and the Nascar race at the end wasnt very interesting. I didnt mind Lohan other then how shes supposed to be from a racing family but when Herbie starts driving on his own she goes "Oh my God! Oh my God! Wriiiiaaahhh!!!", that may have been thr writing though.

Notice how when they "trade paint" Herbies front hubcap comes off, both cars are dented around the fenders, Herbies bumper is slanted, and that Horaces rubber bumper is knocked out of shape.
