Look the fact is women were designed by nature to have and rear children they were not designed to fight and carry heavy gear over heavy terrain for example women have wider hips that were designed to give birth men have 40% to 50% more upper body muscle mass and 20% to 30% lower body muscle mass than women men are just simply in general better designed to handle the psychologically and physically the hardships of combat in general! just saying and this isn't an opinion it's fact!
after a life of royal navy service i do not agree with mixed service , the wrens had there place and it worked . same pay for same service , problem is its never equal . stay home and wait for your man to return .
@bigrider2806 Most young men I've met who serve in the armed forces have no problem serving alongside women, no offence, but I'd take their opinion over someone who obviously sounds as if he's in his twilight years and served when it was mostly a male exclusive profession who has little experience serving alongside women.
Obviously there will be teething and acceptance issues, but the point is, you can't just "cherry pick" equality. Equality is an all or nothing thing in my book.
@ThrexyX this is about woman in the services , you have clearly not served and are taking the opinion of someone who has . you want to comment then have first hand knowledge .ask a man how he would react in a front line situation watching a woman he serves with being raped in front of his eyes by the enemy . talk is cheap i have served enough to have an opinion , be it in "the twilight years " or not . the forces still cherry pick and always will , grow up this is the real world !
Women have some serious British accents, is that cockney?
As far as women in military combat, check out the Russians, they have some seriously big bitches in their ranks that will jack your ass up in a minute.
During WWll Russian women worked in very primitive and hard conditions.
@nullzor not really considering that if a 230 pound man got shot and needed to be dragged out of a burning humvee would a woman really have the strength to pull him out?? women need to learn there place cooking and sex nothing else .
@prruane2forever Yeah they would the adrenaline rush would be so great they could pull a man out of a burning humvee, China has all women infantry units and they are just as affective all you need is someone with a rifle in there hand bring the fight to the emeny dude it does take just a man to pull a trigger you just need the person.
very interesting....i'm no chauvinist but i think this is being done to promote more recruits in the army... many are dodging to fight the cause against terrorism.... and women aren't physiologically made up to stay in the battle field... is there any possible way that they could carry their comrades who are wounded? i mean, seriously... please don't get me wrong but i know this shit... i've been there..
@sparticool Actually there was a female CMT who picked up an injured male infantryman under fire to give him treatment (and helped 6 others), it was on the Sun and Daily Mail about 2 years ago. It was adrenaline of course, but still. You question the ability of women, but what about 5'3" lean male soldiers? Do they have the ability to pick up their 6'3" 14 stone well built injured colleagues? I can't imagine they're much more capable than females at it..
Womens role in war and the military is greatly exaggerated. They aren't even allowed to hold ANY combat MOS in the US Military. Fact is, thy are NOT phycially strong enough to be grunts. This is biology.
@CaptainAmerica322 The British military is far more 'liberal' than the US military in regards to what women can do.. women can do everything in artillery, can do the Commando and Para course (one has even passed), can be in armour (only in the Reserves) etc. We only ban 'women in roles where the PRIMARY duty is to engage with the enemy at close quarters', the US seems to have a massive blanket ban on what women can and cannot do.

'Four gutsy girls.'
'No booze, boyfriends, makeup or glamour'.
That is the most patronising introduction to a documentary I have ever heard.

I think its brilliant that the army let Girls fight on the frontline because at 1 time they were not aloud.

@99atkinson they're still not allowed. Artillery etc isnt quite frontline, girls arent allowed in the infantry or armoured roles.
