@Lardmanthesmileking I used a combination of programs to get the final product. No one software can do it all for you. I used Autodesk Maya for modeling, animation, rigging and lighting. Adobe AfterEffects for compositing and final render, Photoshop for textures, Zbrush for initial concept research, and Adobe Premiere for editing.

See I'd have to disagree, Tom Hanks was stranded, no vehicle not communication... this is much more just like a child talking to their stuffed animal for comfort where they may not actually think it's talking back or real but rather do it simply for comfort where as Tom Hanks in Cast Away was more than likely just going insane.
