oh my, it is not a clock tower)))) it is a fire station tower))) pozharnaja kalancha))) and what you called "St. Peter and Paul Fortress" is the Admiralty actually((( and our subway IS the deepst in the world))) well))) I liked the footage though)))
Fascinating stuff. The metro certainly looks scarily deep. More civilised than London methinks where you could get biffed for pointing a camcorder at folk.
The trick is not to hold it to your face but to let it hang there. People have no idea whether it's filming or not. That girl in the quarter frame seemed to know very well, though, from the knowing smile she tried to hide.
spasibo! Dave for the plug about me in your video hehe ;p these churches are great .....the metro looks interesting too.... the guard dog looked cool.....hehe the "f me police" i see he was waving his stick ready to pounce hahaha ;p
the atmosphere is great , but why would a RUSSIAN HATE RUSSIA???? APART FROM IT BEING UNDER COMMUNIST RULE FOR SO LONG! and parts being very poor.
That would be "Ding dong, I'm your mother" which was on an old Soviet kiddies' film originally.
"Ding dong, I'm your mother, this is my home. Come and meet your mother, all five of you, at the door. Tralala I've been at the market, tralala I'm standing by the door. I've got bags of presents so open the door quickly." A charming piece full of Soviet realism.
the time that little presents had meaning and more or less evrybody was happy with just little things..gee we had joy ,we had fun, we had seasons in the sun; believe me if it was not for my working in an office i would not be watching you or anybody else ,i would have been out playing all the time .
i don't know if it implies that more or less in life everything is hopeless(matea in greek ),as we are going to leave this world, but my simple ,bohemic, careless, moneyless childhood, and I bet yours, was much better than our children's generation's childhood ;what a beutiful song indeed ,maybe you should record it and post it for us !
Thanks, Ken. They are taking advantage of one of the few last days of above freezing temperatures in this year.
You may be interested in the rather crappy recording which graces the gallery section at the start - this was a nanny I hired in Moscow. She played the piano in the rented apartment for the kids. You try getting that for $2 an hour in the west. I made this recording in a different room using the condenser mike on my then laptop, in .wav form!

It seems deeper than Hampstead to me.
Some places in Madrid are pretty deep but I think this is deeper!

The metro in Moscow and Petersburg was built deep as under socialism this was part of their military spending.

Brilliant - really nicely done.

I think your London Underground footage is far more amusing than this metro footage, though!

Yes, well that is a bit of a classic - it is going to be hard to beat that one as Spielburg was telling me only this morning!
I am expecting an Oscar nomination in the best director and best musical score categories!

I particularly liked the crescendo on "they're all w*nkers" at the end of your song.

Yep. But the stars that we reached were just starfish on the beach. Don't forget that bit.
