@aschindler22 I was trying to figure that out too. Obviously the artillery is fired into it but if you look behind the vehicle there are blocks so it cant move, most likely its permanently there. This made me think of a sound cannon, or something to do with creating pressure waves.

@Sp33dyD3m0n its actually a silencer! i guess residents in germany got tired of cannons firing so they built that to supress the explosion sound of the ordinance but the shell can still travel at its target. i guess that its not portable!

@beloitsucks I figured it had to be something connected to the blast pressure created, whether harnessing it like a sound cannon or, as you say, dissipating it to make a silencer. Thanks for the info, its a crazy looking contraption. Im willing to bet this is used to test artillery rounds if its a silencer (like it is fired often) but the tracked unit attached is permanently in place, so it cant be for testing the vehicle.
