  • I feel 16 again right now

  • brings back mad memories yo!

  • This song makes me want to hump Lydia's leg.

  • ..where there is always the comfort.. of knowing I'll never be seen when I fall

  • Awesome :o no more words to spill on this

  • AFI is a band that has such an amazing range of sounds, everything they have ever done was uniquely theirs and nobody could EVER duplicate it, and yet they have done so much that was so radically different, they are truly one of the best groups i have ever come across, and they are true artists.

  • LOL the guitar riffs reminds me A LOT!! to offspring

  • @Gigadramongx offspring copied them

  • @scabiesandrabies In what song?

I'm a fan of them both, well AFI A LOT More but they didn't rip them off...

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch not saying they ripped off their songs but I think AFI influenced the offspring's sound around this time, like they covered total immortal and then with conspiracy of one the guitar started sounding like AFI's. I'm a fan of both too.

  • @scabiesandrabies That's true...

and Conspiracy is one of my fav. Offspring albums so it wasn't bad that they were influenced.

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch Listen to Offspring's first, self-titled album man, you can hear similarities. Albeit Offspring sounded pretty raw back then, but you can also hear similarities on there second album, Ignition. It's really interesting, I can't exactly put together a time-line of when each band was releasing similar sounding stuff, but that would be interesting.

  • @AWSKAR True it would be

  • i ♥ them

  • Black Sails in the sunset is their masterpiece!

  • black sails is afi's best album!

  • 6 people are desperate to get out of that big... dark... room...

  • un touch able 2001

  • Yay he quoted Lydia from Beetlejuice!

  • this song is wayyyyyyyyyyy to EPIC! fuckin bring it back afi!

  • I like this song. i hope i'll learn to play it some day.

  • 6 people are fucking assholes

  • i hate to repeat this joke but i feel obligated.... ANYONE WHO DISLIKES THIS SONG HAS A LIFE THAT IS TWO SMALL BRIGHT ROOMS!!!!!!! OOOOHHHH!!!!!!! FEEL THE BURN HATERS!!!!!!!!!!! HISSSS!!! :D XDXDXD

  • @MCRhasAFireInside Yes let them feel the burn.

  • @MCRhasAFireInside No AFI totally has MCR

    I

  • damn remember bumping this song as kids going to go paintballing. i dont know why but the intro and the song go well with shooting some fools with paint

  • LOVE

  • amazing

  • i miss this AFI

  • afi is one of the best lyrical bands of all time! even if davey fell off and wears bling dimonds

  • love. met dave. best moment of my life

  • I would tattoo the lyrics to this song on me :)

  • I don't know that it's been said, but he's quoting Lydia from Beetle Juice when he says the line about his life being one big dark room.

  • @maxman0000 I remember when I first found that out hahaha it took me years to add the two up I was just like... OH YEAH! I'm glad someone else caught it though sheez

  • @Brimboras u don't know shit thats just an opinion that should be kept to urself

  • @Brimboras Just like your comment, mate!

  • @Brimboras Like your comment? ;P

  • I love this fuckin song

  • Even newer AFI vids only have a million or so veiws, and those are music videos. Those will always have more veiws than a song without a music video to it. Look up Summer Shudder (from DU). It's better than Miss Muder, yet doesn't have nearly as many veiws. So you really can't say that.

  • To further prove my point, why do new AFI videos have millions of views and old ones less? Commercial success, just like Justin Bieber, Just like Nickelback. Just like Katy Perry. The average American consumer listens to what they are told to listen to. So yes, new AFI is total, 100% sellout bullshit. If you think anything otherwise, you're full of shit.

  • @MARKWAITES

Haha. Funny angry clown make Rachel happy.

  • @MARKWAITES I don't care if the music I listen to has 100 listeners or 100,000,000. Enjoy the music for what it is. If you've got a problem with a band because a couple sceney boppers are jumping around in front of you, are you really being a fan?

  • this was my favourite album ^^

  • I always get the chills when i hear Havok saying "One, big, dark room".

  • @Jellegeed I know, right?

This guy writes such perfect lyrics.A lot of their songs are so creepy and magickal-like it almost feels as if im dreaming when im listening to them. Its like he's been to the "beyond" or something....

    Oh well

    Party at a graveyard!!!

  • can't wait until you get away from interscope!

  • I love this song it is just so well written i don't really know what was going through Davey's mind when he wrote this song but whatever it was it turned out to be a great song!

  • This marks thier point just before they sold out. How sad is that....They sold out and so did the beastie boys. Hardcore punk to bullshit rap

  • THIS SONG IS SO AMAZING! How could anyone hate this song? How could anyone hate *gasp* AFI??? Pfft, the Preps and Idiots are the only people who could. But I am so happy to say that I am a die hard AFI/Blaqk Audio FREAK! :D

  • ALEX YOU SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the best song on the album for me. ...I hope they go back to these roots when they record there next album

  • WHEN I FAAAAAAAAAAAALL!!

  • this is my faVE AFI aLBum!!!

  • I need to get this cd with my next paycheck ^_^-b

  • this was their last punk-influenced one. after this, they became what we now today. i think both are great.

  • Some of these comments are so hilarious!! Not AFI!!??! How absurd!

DF For LIFE!!! Hate Them ... You Sure As Hell Wont Phase Them!!!!!!

  • @socap01 and @muler321 I wasn't contributing to their roots or compare their new songs to old. I'm saying that we shouldn't care and just enjoy that they had a hay-day and now they're more mature in what main-stream asks for, sorry to say. I love AFI all the way around. To me, real fans will listen to Brownie-Bottom Sundae and Where We Used to Play all in the same day.

  • "The are of Droning" and "Very proud of ya" are probably my two favorite cds by them, and anything 2003 or later is pretty terrible.

  • @GodofSelf Son of Sam was pretty good. Jade should be shoot butt raped and shoot again.

  • @GodofSelf Black Sails is pretty good

  • Haha.

"My life is a dark room...One. Big. Dark. Room."

    Beetlejuice FTW

  • Shut up haters, you really think we care? AFI is our thing so suck it. There are more lovers then haters so if you don't like it then listen to something else, gawd, it can be THAT simple, so shut up already!

  • I love AFI more than anything in the world. I don't know, AFI just connects to every emotion there is, they just have something other music doesn't have. And I love Davey Havok and how down to eath he is. And Jade does the best guitar ever, like seriously, let me know if you know anyone who can top his sick skills. OMG AFI, my life is bereft without your amazing meaningful songs. Love you Davey! Thank you for the music!

  • @SuperPoopsies

    Easy Bay Ray, duh.

    Buckethead, duh.

  • @SuperPoopsies

My apologies. I meant East Bay Ray. Typo.

  • One. Big. Dark. Room.

  • Comment removed

  • i love this band and i always will. their music is like none other

  • AFI for-fucking-ever. This album is one of the best albums to be written, EVER.

  • this used to give me goosebumps back in 9th grade when i 1st heard it, im 24 now and i still get them. amazing song!

  • @steviemack212

same here my friend, same year same age

  • @SweetnessDies thats awesome. its amazing to here bands that meant so much to us so long ago continue to keep amazing us

  • my most favorite song by them. ever.

  • I had to dump my girlfriend because I found out she didn't like AFI

  • @xJustACarCrashAwayx i had to skull fuck my girl friend for the same reason

  • You ROCK

    lml

  • @xJustACarCrashAwayx o no who wouldnt like a fucking international sellout. They are the biggest sell - outs i know of.

  • @jimpwnedyou They arent sell outs you idiot

    1. A band makes money off of music. If they're underground they don't make much money.

    2. Screaming since the early '90s really kills your vocal coards. Be glad he can even sing.

Don't talk shit if you don't know what the fuck you're saying.

  • @yelserrs yes they are, they went mainstream to make more money quote term in punk music sell out you fucking moronic idiot, no need to insult me with your lame ass insults

  • @yelserrs "Really kills your vocal chords" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAVE YOU HEARD OF NAPALM DEATH? HAHAHAHAHA OH BOY, WOULD LOL AGAIN

  • @yelserrs So well said! Amen.

  • The Art of Drowning ties with Sing the Sorrow as my favorite AFI album. The second half of AoD is especially amazing... this song, DotP, A Story at Three, and 6 to 8...

  • Amazing album!

  • ahhh the first song where they used an electronic drum machine and when they starting synchronizing electronica in their music...nice

  • @exsanguination19 i like ur name!!

  • i´ll download now all of those ,,not new emo like" songs :D

  • This song is so amazing on so many levels!

  • im in 9th grade and my gf said she doesnt like it.

    =(

  • that sucks. dont tell me shes one of those girls that listens to lady gaga and shit? :0

  • lol.

  • hey i personally love AFI AND lady gaga

  • @jmzisabeast1 haha i dont

  • I don't see why your grade has anything to do with that.

  • break up with her.

  • Weightless,

    Endless,

    Faithless, I'll adore you.

    AFI ♥

  • The bridge of this song is one of the most epic things I've ever heard. <3

  • this song is one of my favorites

    darksilentflame (DF)

  • great song! i just started listening to the "old" AFI. i like almost all their albums. not a big fan of DU though

  • Inspiring song.

  • Anyone know what song title is ... Where in the video the lead singer was standing on a bridge about to jump... I luvd that song but cnt remember the words or title

  • @Staceymartnz

    silver and cold

  • @kalaokekaia Dang i was gonna say that

  • silver and cold

  • @Staceymartnz yh i just saw that that song is silver and cold

  • can't even spell AFI mannnn get the fuck outta here.

  • fuck yeah you just got me into afi again. been like 6 years sense ive listened to them thanks for uploading!

  • <3 .

  • 16,254 no its not really amusing it would be if it were 12,345

  • it is amusing if you know even the littlest about AFI, like how they released December Underground on 6/6/2006

  • They said them selves, it was the nearest release date; which was in early may that year. :) It's a coincidence. Really.

  • The one inMay got cancelled. That was the closest to it available

  • There is no "old" or "new" AFI. There is only AFI. :)

  • Assuming they exist in time there must necessarily be a preceding and following point in their existence.

And guess what, the following point sucks.

  • you couldn't any wronger

  • @ColtonT66 Except they radically altered their style over the years, creating a dichotomy most simply stated as "old AFI" vs "new AFI". I love em more than anything. Was just at their show last night in Providence, RI.

But to compare Art of Drowning to Crash Love is to compare apples to oranges.

  • @kyucklebeans Doesn't matter if they change their style. They're AFI. Would you want to sing the same style after intense surgery from this singing? Not being able to be more raw, you're going to have to sing something different. Aging over the years takes a tole. Demand for something different/new is another. There's only one AFI, from Dork to Crash Love.

  • @ColtonT66 Amen to that.

  • @ColtonT66 but there is good a.f.i and shit a.f.i

  • @ColtonT66 I could not disagree with that statement more lol. They were good up until sts now its just wtf... lol

  • @ColtonT66 There's punk AFI, and just plain AFI, though.

  • @ColtonT66 no there is good afi which is this, and shit afi like miss murder

  • @ColtonT66 I really hate arguments, especially on youtube because they are stupid and become irrational, but in my opinion, yes there is only AFI. AFI was the band who released six albums up through Sing The Sorrow. The two albums that came after that, well, I don't know who it is but I do know that it sure as hell isn't AFI.

  • @HaHaxIxWin I totally agree with the arguing over Youtube. It'd rather be in a state of equilibrium. But, we can agree to disagree? Because I respect opinions.

  • @HaHaxIxWin Try saying that to a Misfits fan. You won't find many people who look at the Graves-era Misfits in the same way as the Danzig-era. I see all these AFI fans claiming to like all their records equally but if you compare how many views their songs get, it's pretty obvious that's bullshit.

  • @HoosierMF i do agree with you to some extent. however, this is my favorite era for them and i'll at least say that i never before contributed to the play count since i have the CD and the mp3 file. only right now i'm not at home and not on my computer. i discovered AFI in Sing the Sorrow, but fell in love with the Art of Drowning and Black Sails in the Sunset. I own all their CDs and EPs tho. and the all hallows EP is rather fitting for today

  • @HoosierMF the true AFI fans are one that like all their music. the reason that some songs have so many more views is becasue a bunch of emo kids started listening to DECEMBERUNDERGROUND and Sing the Sorrow, which are great albums, but sadly that's the way the music industry works now. a bands best music is often never known

  • @CrabcoreFTW No, you're wrong. I'm a huge fan of AFI's early records and I'm not going to pretend I like their newer stuff for anyone. It's about preference NOT dedication.

  • @ColtonT66 THANKYOU!!!!!

  • @ColtonT66 theres punk afi (the first afi) then theres sellout faggot green day afi who sells bullshit lunch boxes and shit at hot topic

  • @GuruBabadesh I don't personally believe they're sellouts just 'cause they advertise. They've made it big a deserve to be known by what main-stream asks for and how ever main-stream wants you to be known. In their case (as you say), on lunch boxes and Hot Topic. They started out small, got big and tried different sounds and succeeded because they were smart on how they did it.

  • @ColtonT66 They changed so they could be popular. That's selling out. It's so obviously marketed to emo kids because that's what sells.

  • @1978deus I'm just sayin, in my own opinion, there's no new AFI or old AFI. I just stated that. I didn't say, "Fuck you guys because it's a fact that AFI is always the same! HHAHAH!!! FTW!" Why can't I say that without being criticized?

  • @ColtonT66 Well, it's generally understood that stuff that's released more recently is regarded as "new", and that which comes earlier is "old".

  • @muler321 I understand that. I get what people are saying. But, people have their tastes in music. If peopl don't like it, well I'm sorry, they'll have to deal with that.

  • @ColtonT66 Deal with that as in take matters into their own hands with destruction and violence? I personally subscribe to conflict avoidance.

  • @muler321 Sadly, that's what most people do. I agree with your statement.

  • @ColtonT66 Bullshit.

  • @NesanXIII I just stated my opinion. Didn't try to start anything.

  • @ColtonT66 I completely disagree. Old AFI is fantastic. New AFI is commercial, over produced and fucking awful.

  • i love the dynamics of this song going from a fast-paced verse and chorus to a bridge and real slow verses where he whispers...ahhhh too good!

  • @phantomdeth22 It's all Jade on the song construction...esp those signature rhythm changes. They always had Davy's unique vocals, but when Jade joined in 98, AFI found their "voice." He and Davy work so well together.

  • @kyucklebeans God I know, they blend so well. If you just heard the chorus with no instruments and Davey not singing solo, you would know that it is purely, uniquely, beautifully AFI. God...I've been listening to these guys for years and when I listen to Black Sails, Art Of Drowning, and Sing The Sorrow, I am still in awe of them.

  • It seems like no matter how great something is, through the course of human history, time always seems to fade on it.

The Art Of Drowning CD by AFI is something that should always remembered.

  • "A single touch... before i fade..."

That line ALWAYS gets me. I get goosebumps every time!

  • " my whole life is a dark room. One big, dark room" - ( From the movie Beatles Juice ) ( Then From.....This song) lol i love this song.

  • waiting i despair

  • i still remember the day i bought this cd

  • Im view number 14,070

  • me to

  • I'm viewer number 15,666 lol. Ain't that amusing.

  • Ahhh yes. One of the songs that got me through highschool. This album is the definition of nostalgia for me.

  • @fourwalledworld these songs got me through elementary :)

  • Holy shit this brings back memories...

  • indeed. i remember seeing them with rancid when this cd came out. amazing day of my life.

  • "my whole life is a big dark room. one big dark room" isnt that line from them and copied from beetle juice? or did they take it from beetle juice? eeh?

  • This album came out in 2000, Beetle Juice came out in the late 80s, you figure it out Einstein.

  • OK. 1:52 to 2:03 (roughly).

What is he saying? I could have sworn that part is not listed in any lyrics I've seen.

I could be, of course, seriously wrong.

  • "Waiting by the stairs. (Waiting i despair)

Waiting, I despair. (Waiting by the stairs)"

  • 12548

  • i love AFI!! Brings back the best of memories when i was 16:) that was 6years ago wow! they will always my favorite !!!!!♫♫♫!!♫♫♫!!!♪!!!!♪!!!

  • Ohh! I love that line from Beetlejuice. :P

  • i want this cd!!

  • Okay, people need to stop arguing about their music. I am with shrillxsilence on this one. DU wasn't their absolute best, but I do like the album. They HAVE to change up their sound. How boriing would it be if they sounded the exact same for the 20 years they have been around? I love the old, I love the new, and no matter what anyone says, AFI will ALWAYS be great in my book.

  • They really have changed, I don't see why people debate over if they're still good or not.

I like both old and new AFI personally, but it's completely different genres of music here. There's no way to reasonably compare the two, because their old stuff is good hardcore music and their new stuff is good alternative music.

  • You are totally right man.

  • I don't think I've heard anyone say it better.

  • im view 10,000
