  • Pinguy is better than Mint cause it succeeded it; Mint's purpouse is to have everything out of the box; PINGUY HAS THAT

  • Forget Pinguy, take a look at Zorin, from obscurity to number 23 with a bullet. This one has a chance to be number 1.

  • @tostoday I don't like what I read about Zorin. The Windows user interface is one of the reasons why I prefer Linux over Windows. Why would I want a distro thats designed to look and feel most like using Windows?

  • Only thing i saw is after it's installed to the hard drive it's exactly like the Live version but on the HD, ie the installer is still on the desktop and give the choice to install to the hard drive.

and if you do the update, all the packages are updated the performance drops. and docky gets removed from the desktop

and yes Peppermint is based on Lubuntu.

  • Pinguy OS was created by Pinguy. You can probably track him down on the Ubuntu Forums.

  • I've been using Pinguy OS ever since its first release and I really love it. There's a problem though that keeps coming back: what you see in the the liveDVD isn't really what you get when you install it. I mean, all extra stuff is there, just not activated (the docs, the conky, some of nautilus scripts). Did any of you guys had that problem? I've installed it in 4 different machines and this just keeps happening.

  • it did not work out of the box/cd for me... the video was screwed up. by accident I tried ctl-alt-f1 and it changed to normal video... I later learned that this was because I did not have the hardware drive for Nvidia installed... which I got from the pinguy forum.

-I changed docky for AWN because docky crashes at times.

  • Bryan how many bryan coins does illumination cost?

  • Fantastic Guys.......

I would agree Pinguy is a great os... I have the previous version that I have had fun playing with, but i have to say the new version is just as good or even better as long as they stay within both worlds of 'MINT' & 'Ubuntu'.

    Keep up the Good Work!

  • Does postlr have html support?

  • Because Smallville is totally canon.

    And makes complete sense.

  • you should release a Jupiter broadcasting distro ;)

  • good review...going to try Pinguy even though i just installed mint.

  • Awesome

  • wow, snap! you guys didn't know what conky was? ... thats a milli dollar moment for me lols

  • @ttasutsu

    no kidding :)

  • Is Rex better than Ruby or Python ?

  • Am I the only one that watches the live stream AND the cut version? :D

  • 38:00 it's called Conky, by the way good review

  • Good show as always.

  • lol "evolution is awesome" hahah you funny

  • I would love to see an iQunix OS review !! :) iqunix.sf.net

  • Bryan's intro might be the definition of awesome.

  • Having more stuff pre-installed is way better than what mint does.

It's easier to remove something then find and install something.

I really love Pinguy. Everything is so super ready and works out of the box.

A perfect distro to give a linux newbie or someone who hates configuring and all that stupid stuff.

  • Great show as always!

  • Jupider guys, you are doing an amazing job. Keep it up guys :)

  • Whats the point always to show army or any other equipment? Does you expect that some of them will run on Windows? - NEVER! :D

  • Review Elementary Os

  • Review Pinguy OS 32:00

  • bryancoins website does not exist yet

  • please, please bryan.. MORE FUNNY INDIA-Guy sounds!!!!! "tis netbuk ruhn linuhhx" win!!!!

  • bryancoins!

  • Brian's intros are becoming epic...

  • I believe that a large reason why netbooks are so unpopular is because of their shitty HD playback performance. Only now are manufacturers starting to improve that with a Nvidia ion and Intel dual Core atom processors. And yet they're still under powered! Cool concept but HD playback is now essential!

  • Pinguy OS is a great, but you'll need at least 2 GB RAM. You're better off with 4 GB or more.

  • @bnleez

not really. I run it on my EEE pc 900a, 1 gig, 4gig ssd and 16 gid sd. Better performance than Pepperment , or lubuntu.

  • unity is totally a netbook os ubuntu dose not have a desktop os anymore except for the derivatives like kubuntu or xubuntu ext. maybe they should make a gubuntu for gnome lol

  • I swear Bryan's intros get more awesome every week.

  • @Naturality Keeps us on our toes

  • @Naturality Now if only he'd shut up during Chris' Android pick.

    Such a Ham....

  • More cool toy for our solders. Running LINUX!!!

  • I hum the intro tune in the shower every sunday morning :p

  • @nolanhester1 i want to watch Linux action show in the shower if you know about a waterproof computing device let me know

  • LAS always makes my Sundays exciting - or at least less dull.

  • @AngryRantingNerd Makes the football sunday offseason more fun.
