That was awesome, please don't say ur just using a piezo mic(like the ones from radio shack) and a cheap amp. I would be really sad then and have to chop off my fingers.
@McGuitarStar what are implied harmonics? how do they work? i cant make sense of how he's doing it. his fretting hand is commited to a chord, and he's not picking it so its not like artificial harmonics or whatever..?
If you watch closely he is using all right hand. He lays his first finger accross the strings(where the 24th fret would be) and picks with his ring finger creating the harmonics.
You really are exploring the very boundaries of what is possible with your instrument and a set of hands. I think a lot of what you're doing is a beautiful sort of visionary research. If that makes any sense..
I love your music, man! So imaginative with such a wonderful sound to it.
Cette chanson est tout simplement magique! Je l'ai écouté très souvent et je ne me fatigue jamais de l'entendre. Bravo Erik! Beau prénom en passant héhé.
this piece is so amazingly elegant and beautiful. your playing style is so varied and filled with finesse and emotion... youre definitely in my top 3 favorite youtube guitarists. airtap was a cool little tune, but this song is truly fantastic.
Eh, the Candyrat guys never really caught on with me. I got into listening to the music of Alex de Grassi, Michael Hedges, Martin Simpson first, Erik came along a lot later but he's got the groove. Check out Andrew Gorny, too!
the candyrat guys are all really good but i think the group as a whole received so much hype. i remember being a freshman in college when drifting came out on youtube and everyone guitarist in the school was hooked on candyrat tunes.
i find erik awesome because his style is different from and of the candyrats and i really feel like he's cultivated a unique style that doesn't seem to be too influenced by others. i guess what i'm trying to say is that he's original.
Thanks for the response! No doubt the Candyrat artists have done some cool things with solo acoustic guitar, it's just, for one reason or another, not my cup of tea.
I note that Erik has a unique style, too. In a way, it seems like he's almost playing ambient music in a solo setting, but it's more intense and dramatic than the usual modern acoustic style.
A friend sent me your "air tap" video a short while ago.
Being a long time fan of Michael Hedges and feeling the sting of his loss to us all, your incredibly entertaining talent is a tribute to him and a gift to us all.
Thanks for helping to give light to a dark spot he left behind.
Please put a "fixed version" of "Timeless" up for us. It goes out of sync a couple minutes into the song and it's an amazing tune.
You are an amazing guitar player man. Please keep doing what you do. Your music is very inspiring. I hope to see you live one day. Maybe even jam with you if I'm lucky enough.
@VexusFlytrap Obviously trying to start some sort of a religious debate. I don't even fully believe and I can see what you are doing. I don't mind what you believe, as long as you aren't causing problems or pushing it on me.
Its really amazing how much passion you can feel coming from your playing. as cheesy as that sounds, I think you have a ton of potential and I hope to hear more from you
I've seen him play live in a local coffee shop not far from my home in Pittsburgh....he plays, and very well. He's just a musical genius that's all. (very humble too I might add)

the sharpness sounds like part effect, but that guitar is very unique. Its much larger than even a grand auditorium and made of solid graphite, eliminating the need for structure wood giving it a much more full sound.
Yes, it is an amazing guitar for sure. The graphite body even has an urutherane(spelling?) finish instead of a normal clearcoat. I'M curious though why the graphite looks like carbon fiber. Never the less.
To believe that the sound is coming only from the guitar in this video is just ridiculous IMO.
