NA1SS has a nice QSL card. You should send yours and get theirs.
I worked the station a year or two ago. I was sitting in carpool line, waiting to pick up my son. It was just my mobile radio with the 5/8 wave omni. Easy.

Great work on contact. I swear DOC, your'e videos with MATTATTACK are the best. It is so great to see you guys together doing things that make for meaningful memories. You are both very fortunate to have that relationship. As always sir, wishing the very best for you and your whole family!
AWESOME....VERY COOL!!!! Talking to the ISS has to be very special. I am happy that you and Matt were able to do it together. Quality father/son time. Be safe out there and 73's
I am GREEN! With envy.. Awesome experience for you! I was out earlier today waving my arrow antenna around hoping someone would be working the pass... but nothing. Very very very cool! Congratulations
Oh man, that looked like both of you were having so much fun. I honestly had no idea that you could actually contact the space station via ham radio. What an experience. What a fun way too to build that relationship with Matt Attack. He looked like he was having all sorts of fun.
Congratulations, Mattattack is very lucky to have a dad like you doc. What a cool thing to do with your children! "Hey Matt, want to talk to the international space station today?" ;)
Hi Doc... I have been watching you videos for while now and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to give all of us some amazing information. (I just finished a level 2 FAK with your help) I have never posted before but this video really touched me!
It is so great to see your relationship with your son. I lost my father in 2006 and I have so many memories camping, hiking, fishing, etc with him I can promise you your son will one day smile thinking about those great times with you too!
HOLY SMOKE !!!! That is unbelievable!!! You two may have hit them on other attempts, and they were just too busy to respond. VERY SUPER COOL! Way To go Boys!
Nice work Doc! That would make a nice QSL card. I have never seen the word "cool" used so often in comments. You can also work AO-51, an orbiting repeater, and talk to others on the earth at great distances.
that is frickin cool man....thats really awesome!!!! I have been thinking of getting into ham radio for years but never got serious....can you get radios that can broadcast nd recieve for long distances??? hey guys congrats on the ISS contact threw your ham i have been watching alot of videos on ham radios and im very interested in getting one but it seems extreemly tough im not sure if contacting the ISS is a big deal but it would be for me so congrats again guys
Hello Dr. Pruett, Great video by the way. it must have been exciting contacting something that far away. I saw that look in your eyes at 4:14 after your son said that the international space station was traveling faster than the speed of light. the speed of light travels at 3x10^8 m/s . The last time I read that was in an MCAT preparation book. Anyways, The international space station cannot surpass the speed of light- it is physically impossible for matter to do this. Please let your son know!
hey doc i think a great video would be ham radio 101 like the basics and go from there. when you first started the ham radio stuff i did'nt really like it but i think it would be very useful and fun to do . Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
@branjumba - absolutely . . . I will add that to the growing list of vids ;-) thought I would only make 10 this year . . . left that in the dust months ago! Thanks for the great idea.
@GearBuyersGuide - Yes . . . I like the iPhone app GoSatWatch because it tells you position, speed, distance overhead, descending distance of approach and maps.
@johnrob281 - Very cool sir . . . I am a big fan of your brother . . . I've watched some of his videos more than I will admit in public ;-) he is very inspirational and I love that radio voice of his! 73 de KF7ETX
Wow. That's AMAZING! I really look forward to a video of you making contact with them again. That is just the coolest thing ever and you have DEFINITELY made me interested in this ham radio business. I'll start my reading and researching.
