Not embarrasing and not out of date at all. I think it's WONDERFUL and no-one will ever change my mind. One of the great things about Britain's patriotic songs, is that very few countries, in my experience of LIVING (not visiting) in six in all so far, plus what I've learnt elsehwere, have such a magnificent one as Rule, Britannia! That's one reason why the Last Night of the Proms sells so well in foreign lands. My wife, who is NOT British, thinks Rule Britannia and the others are just great.

Some years before 9-11-01 when they still had a tour of part of the white house, which I took, a guide pointed out some black charring on one of the porticos that was caused by the 1814 fires.
