  • Wow

  • Very nice work must have taken ages! Did some myself the other day. Printed out 90 frames took me 7 hours to do 35 hand drawn frames then shot them on a rostrum. Check it if you can. Feedbacks always good

  • dude, this is awesome

  • Wow~ Nice!

  • Hi,

I am working on a school project that requires animation, and while I was doing research as to how this can be done, I came across your video. I really love the idea of doing all the art by hand, rather than on a computer. I feel fairly confident as an artist, but could you please explain to me the technical aspects. It would be greatly appreciated.

  • Drewent Pencils <3

  • hey.. how much would u charge for work as this ?? just curious..

  • did this really help give you a sense of timing and stuff because I have been thinking about doing this as a practice.

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • how long did this take?

  • @vagisil4eva i worked on it, on and off, for about a week

  • @timelapse19 what is the frame rate per second on this?

  • *-*

  • Looks brilliant!

  • @FiendofDA thanks! :)

  • Sorry but you've drawn over stock footage that you did yourself, i have an animation degree, the animation looks flat and linear, hence why i think you've drawn over stock footage.

  • @aaronaton well it's good to know you've learnt something from your degree, but that's why i titled it 'rotoscope' because that's what it is, tracing over footage. maybe 'hand drawn' is misleading?

  • @aaronaton Put your cock away, nobody wants to see how much you polish it.

  • @aaronaton sigh, you are truly an idiot

  • oh god, it's hard to believe anyone could possibly have finished a degree and be so dense.

  • @aaronaton How could you have an animation degree without knowing what rotoscoping is?!

  • Amazing!!

  • @SoundsLikeKarin thank you!

  • awesome

  • How many Frame per second is this?

  • @EndlessImagination89 i sped parts of the video up after animating so it varies, but somewhere between 8 and 9 i think

  • good job! with the shading and everything

  • @2431704 thanks very much!

  • Wow this is amazing! thumbs up for you!

  • @plainlysimplestudios thank you!

  • great one! so professionally neat!

  • @rosikaable thank you! :)

  • Can I have a question? What technique did you use to redraw the frames on paper? Or did you use tablet? I really can't figure it out.

  • @adfdasfadfdaaaa you certainly can. i didn't use a tablet, no. i actually traced over my laptop screen whilst playing a video frame by frame, which was a bit awkward, but that's the only way i could think of doing it at the time :D

  • That was beautiful!:')

  • can you please tell me what i have to do to start animating? do i need to download a certain software? or do i draw my own on paper and take a million photos ?

  • @RachelsBucket if you're starting out, i'd advise checking out some simple animating techniques, there's loads of ways of animating, but you don't necessarily need any special software. to do one like this you'll need an editing program that can string separate frames/drawings together. i've used adobe premiere and windows movie maker.

  • @RachelsBucket Dude, try Eztoons, and a drawing tablet. Fun to start out with, and program is free and on the internet!:P

  • @chillincello pencil is freeware and a good one as well

  • @peacefulshades i wish I knw how to do pencil paper animation.. O.o

  • I'm just getting into drawing animation. This is really cool.

  • is this using mouse at all?

cuz i wanna animate, but i cant do mouse!

  • @imegachocohalic i didn't use a mouse at all.

  • he didnt hand draw that >.>

  • @MattblahMatt depends what you want to call 'hand-drawn'. i traced each image, but by hand.

  • @timelapse19 well either way great video deserves more views

  • @timelapse19 Did you draw these on paper and scan in each one? Did you have to use a projector to to get the image down for you to roto over? Im going to do something like this soon, but I plan on doing 90% of it without using a computer. Yours looks good for the time spent.

  • @timelapse19 Just because you trace something doesn't mean it looks perfect. To be good at tracing you have to be good at drawing. Otherwise the tracing would look like crap duh. This video is an example of good tracing and drawing.

  • Nice work Just curious though how many fps did you use?

  • @anom2lol thanks! aboout 8 fps i think.

  • duuuuuude!!!! that was really nice!!! I'm an architecture diploma student and I'm currently looking for rotoscoping vids on youtube to get an idea about the techniques results. Well done on the sketch and music. Keep it up :)

  • WOW! THIS IS AMAZING!

  • @pghavna thank you!

  • Awesome man! You must be really good at making hand drawn animations.

  • you guys do relize what rotoscoping is right? tracing each frame of a video..

  • wow that was AMAZING!! this requires alot of talent, patience, and hard work you are very talented how long did this take you?

  • @MichaelRyanKinney ah thanks very much! i worked on it on and off for a week.

  • omg dude that's epic I'm thinking of doing something like this for my a level, wow! you got some talent :D

  • @MrDjChiN thanks! ah yeah? good stuff.

  • @BenMightBeWrong thanks! :) the animated part was 175 frames all together.

  • i cant beleive this got so few views ._.

  • Hi!

I really loved this work too. I am talking to animators who do this 2 d drawing style right now. I have a project. Do you take on commercial projects? If so, I would love to discuss the project with you. Thanks!

  • this is simply amazing! you've worked so clean and perfect and the whole thing with this guy, his guitar, those pens and the desk around looks just incredibly great! keep it on! !!!!!!! !!!

  • @Treibholzfilms thanks very much! :)

  • @Treibholzfilms It's clean and perfect because he's rotoscoping -_-

  • Your vids are seriously amazing o:<

  • pretty awesome :)

  • @navarchix thanks! :)

  • good god. this, and the rest of your videos are so damn beautiful. thank you.

  • @blochead555 ahh thank you! :)

  • I wish I could draw _one_ drawing like that......

  • @NokEtOffer :)

  • How did you keep it so perfect?

  • @BobTotProductions not sure what you mean by perfect...? the background is just a still image, so it never moves. i layered the animated part over the top :)

  • @timelapse19 So you didn't draw it?

  • @BobTotProductions oh yeah, i drew the animation

  • this is awesome.

  • @tortillamobster thank you!

  • OMG! TrolyPolly's been here and disliked it!! :O

  • @HumbertoH31 haha. nothing wrong with a good stick figure :D

  • why so few views?..

  • @ge00000rge haha. ah i don't know, 2600 seems like a lot to me! thanks for watching :)

  • Superb work :D

  • @LzI thank you! :)

  • This is great... I wish I could do that :(

Great work, I briefly met someone who did this stuff at uni and he had a similar thing though it was much longer and was like 500+ hours of drawing... really cool stuff

  • @ryder187mac thank you :) wow really? respect to that guy. it takes a lot of patience!

    wow very good

  • @sharmakritya thank you! :)

  • It's in my favourites!

  • I think it is incredible!

I've watched it over and over.

    It is so smoothly paced....elegant.

    You are gifted!

  • this is great.!

  • @JakobFriisStorborg thanks! :)

  • oh quick question. whats the fps on this? it sorta looks like 12 or 10 but im not sure.

  • @amoshinihsoma i'm not too sure actually, it was originally only 8 fps, but then i sped some parts up in adobe premiere, so probably varies between about 8 and 10.

  • how did you rotoscope this? i know you drew this by hand, and traced over the video, but how did you do that? as in. i was gonna print out every frame, trace over it, then scan it in. but that would take too much time. did you trace it from your computer monitor?

  • @amoshinihsoma yeah. played it back and traced straight from the screen.

  • @timelapse19 nice. ill try that with brightness set to high or something. i was gonna use a projector if anything, but it would be hard to get a lightbox effect to trace. thanks

  • what does it mean rotoscoped ? :)

  • @matiss1975 rotoscoping is where you trace over a video, frame by frame, to make the animation. so in this case, i traced over a video of myself to get all the separate drawings :)

  • @timelapse19 ahh ok, I see thanks :)

  • @GoForthFilms I scanned all the frames separately, and imported them into moviemaker (set to play at 8 frames a second) to make the animation, then i layered that over the background in adobe premiere.

  • That is amazing mate!!

  • @ScarlettheHedgehog09 thanks a lot :)

  • Done in Flash. Rotoscoped.

  • @elvisfchrist what?

  • I said that this has been produced in an animation software package such as Flash. The animation itself is incredidible, but does not consititute pure hand-drawn animation.

  • @elvisfchrist ah right, sorry i didn't quite understand what you were trying to say. yeah it was rotoscoped, i've never used flash though.

mmm maybe not, i mean hand-drawn in the sense that i drew each frame by hand with a pencil on paper.

  • beautiful stop motion video i appreciate the effort that went into its making ....a labour of love

  • @golubchickray thanks very much! :)

  • Wow, Youre the most amaing video maker ever :)

What type of camera do you have, its amaing

  • Probably one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. :)
