  • JUST MISSED!!! "I Only Have Eyes For You" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 13 weeks in the Top 100 in 1959!!!

  • Cool B&O turntable

  • SMALLVILLE - Third season - Relic

  • Lovely. I understand Bruno Mars's inspiration now. :D

  • Lucy & Pat DiMauro

  • Bad ass fuckin record player what kind is it n where can i get one THATS GANGSTER SHIT

  • @Emart9224 dude, that a turntable is a Bang and Olufsen. Most likely from the 1980's. you should not judge a turntable on how it looks rather on how it plays records. This B&O turntable i see is a semi automatic. That's not so good because the best sounding turntable are completely manual and belt driven. Check out the phantasie turntable from Thorens.

  • @Emart9224 All the info on this on B&O turntable is in the information box, & it is belt driven & the auto return doesn't degrade it's performance. They do come up from time to time on ebay. I also have a Thorens TD-125 turntable, and I am not familiar with the quality of the Thorens Phantasie, but don't care much for its looks. The most highly collectible Thorens is the TD-124 with the Shure SME tonearm. Enter ebay no 220933185428

  • This song is the shit!

  • this is an incredibly clean copy.. although I'm only listening through the computer sound system I can tell against the other versions on Youtube that you've got it playing on a great system... what a great capture...

  • Heard this song on so many TV series, always played during flashbacks on the episodes to 50+ years ago! love it.

  • American Graffiti anyone?

  • @gunny426plymouth

This song was also featured in the movie "The Right Stuff". In the movie the night before Gus Grissom is about to become the first man in orbit back in '61, he and Scott Carpenter are visiting a bar. This song is playing in the background when two gorgeous young "thangs" walk by looking to tempt any man in the bar. The lyrics in the song were perfect as Gus wanted to do more than "rest up" for his big event the next day! This song is a classic!!

  • While we'll always have music--good music, too--I really hope to someday again have songwriting. Thanks, thanks, thanks for posting!

  • Fugees' Zealots is what it is!

  • First time I heard this classic was in 1973 (american graffiti) then much later in the Bronx tale. Great song that has magic in it.

  • my dad use to sing this song to me when i was younger it means so much to me i plan on singing it to my kids in the future♥

  • Thanks for sharing, the sound is so clear. It's really...I suppose enchanting is the word.

  • Aha! A perfect video to show my son and daughter (9 and 11) what a record player was. :)

  • this song gives me shivers every time i hear it...

  • IMPRESSIVE...my young apprentice :-)

  • dis is my shit youngk on mafiaz

  • i just recently got a stock copy of the end 45(with '' at the prom '' on the b-side,promo copy i got has''goodnite sweetheart'' on b-side).the end stock copy also came out of radio station WTON AM 1240,staunton,va.(has the station call letters on it.the station is now a sports radio station).

  • In 1976 I toured with the remaining Flamingos (Terry Johnson) . What a trip !!!

  • @jammer3808 YOU LUCKY PERSON!!!!!!

  • I absolutely love this song! It's always been my favorite romantic song since I was a kid, and I happen to have the same 45 as in the video. Trust me people if you can get the same 45 in good condition, this song will truly sound beautiful!

  • Many years laYes! My older sister had a Hi-Fi, then new technology, and I used to spin the records on it sometimes when she wasn't around... But, primarily I first heard this song by seeing the old feature 1930's movie with Dick Powell in it (singing the original version)- Of course, it blew me away when I realized (back in '59) as a youngster that this was actually the same song, only better!

  • Sick video

  • CHECK OUT, ANOTHER VERSION, THE FLAMINGOS WITH , THE MOONGLOWS, FROM THE FILM SOUNDTRACK, TO, A BRONX TALE. PURE GOOD FEELING, ONE OF MY MOST FAVOURITES EVER IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC.

  • 32 dislikes? What's not to like? Great tune, great sound, lavish, albeit compressed to buggery by the wonderful 'Tube IT geeks. Played as it should be - vinyl, on a pro quality 'table - a Banger, through good gear. There's 32 folks out there who wouldn't swing if they hanged themselves.

I responded with the Persians cut - a bit more rough & ready than the Flamingos & my gear (Gemini with a generic stylus, SoundLab mixer, DI), won't set your ears on fire but it sounds good enough for YouTube.

    ;)

  • The echo in this song is incredible.

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer, anyone?

  • @abercrombieblondiie The reason i came here. Amazing episode right?

  • @abercrombieblondiie init doi!

  • @abercrombieblondiie Absolutely! All I can think of when I hear this song is that episode. I reckon Angel was so much better as bad...

  • @abercrombieblondiie

Oh yea! That was my favorite Episode!

  • It's music very beautiful.

  • Love this song.

  • This song is wot real Love is about

  • absolutely beautifull song....I cannot love music anymore than this song..love a girl more than this....

  • im 20. popular music's had over 50 years to evolve since this...

    fuck we went wrong somewhere.

  • I use to listen to the American Graffiti album as a kid in the 80's and would hear this. It always gave me chills and has always been my #1 choice for my first wedding dance. Haunting and Romantic! Truly makes you feel as if you are under a star studded sky under the full moon. Aaaahhhhhh.

  • About ten years ago I was a mobile DJ and I bought a lot of reissue 45s because I didn't want to take my original records out to gigs. I bought a lot of silver label Collectables because most of them were mastered very well, like this one. Most likely they were taken from master tapes. Black label and pink label Collectables 45s are iffy.. Some sound great and some sound terrible.

  • @PJDooWop Hi PJ This stereo silver label Collectable is an impressive recording, & when listening in the room it has excellentt fidelity & sound stage for a 1959 recording, almost like the Flamingos are singing live, but unfortunately none of this can be heard on the video. You're right they do vary in sound quality, but it also might have to do with how the master was recorded, some were poor recordings to begin with. I have 2 END 45s on the jukeboxes I play this only on the turntables.

  • Flamingos 45s on End are tough when it comes to sound quality. Even clean looking copies might play with noise. They were a popular group and people played their records to death. I do have a few Flamingos End 45s that sound incredible, though. I would say for the most part the Flamingos recordings on End were very well done

  • @PJDooWop Hi PJ Yes i noticed that as well with the END 45's, that is probably why the Collectable sounds so good the master recording was well done. I have one END in nice condition, and the other is a little worn. The better END is in the Seeburg, and the other is in the Wurlitzer 1800. The Wurlitzer 1800 gets all the worn 45's as it still has the Zenith Cobra cartridge which isn't too easy on records. The other two Wurlitzers & the Seeburg have new Pickering stereo magnetic cartridges,

  • I first heard this song in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, haha! So creepy!

  • I only have eyes for you.......and that turntable ;p-

  • This song must of had a lot of guys get laid.

  • MAN OH MAN--REAL LOVE--MANY YEARS AGO--WITH THE ONLY LOVE OF MY LIFE.

  • It's beautiful art like this that gives me hope that I will find love! I picture my self lying on the beach at night, looking at a starry sky with the women I love, while listening to this song! It's amazing how classic songs like this can make u feel!

  • @ladiesman91594 Nope. dun work

  • Xcellent~!!

  • at first when i first heard this i thought they were saying shut your mouth

  • THE XX.

  • Fugees rock

  • "I don't want anything to put this program in a bad light..."

  • Girl knows what time it is when you throw this on..

  • Relaxing until the camera started wandering around.

  • @gregwddriver I know right. It was perfect when it was still lol. At least the audio is awesome...kudos to Maynard.

  • @supahmariostyle Your point is well taken, & I've had comments on this before, the video was uploaded just to show the turntable to my youtube vintage stereo and radio friends, not to promote the song or sound quality. Then it became very popular for the song, & viewers asked what type of equipment I was playing it through so I listed that. If I had know this would have been this popular for the song I would have done it differntly, & some like this open mic version over the direct to PC.

  • No clicks and pops? Awesome.

  • Kind of nice to see an LP again. Thanks for sharing...only one suggestion.

    Line breaks are your friend.

  • Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire.

  • The song is perfect. The video is enjoyable. The description is frightening.

    Thanks for my experience

  • Chloe...

  • this makes me so sad but happy at the same time. i miss my luv.

  • If u can truly feel this song inside, You are In Love

  • In 1960 I was soooooo in love with Carol. Seaside Heights NJ , Casino ball room.

  • 30 people can suck a dick!!!

  • Not sure how 30 people disliked this... Can't figure out what could possibly be wrong with this video. And the video of the 45 spinning beats just the song playing along a freeze frame photo any day.

  • Doo Wop = The best love songs.

  • This is THE love song.

  • Sonny had five fingers, but he only used three

  • I may be the only one, but I'm not into the vampire/wolfman/zombie thing. Since I'm a realist and know there IS a silver bullet that can kill all three (also includes Frankenstein Monster, King Kong and Godzilla).

  • For some reason the snow flurries made me think of this song. Great post.

  • buffy brought me here

  • AWESOME turntable. Brilliant song.

  • A Bronx Tale brought me here. Such beauty.

  • Acid doo-wop.

  • nice one! :)

  • wow a classic from before I was even born. Sounds great!

  • love this song! my parents used to dance to this when i was a child.

I added this to my favorites 1 year ago because it is classic and wonderful. That time in history was when groups actually sung and played good music. Thank you Maynardcat for posting this classic!!!

  • @iappreciategoodmusci Congratulations, you're old....it shows... You know you're old when you start acting like you invented it because you heard it first. Want a medal?

  • wow.. spectacular song..

  • I have hella records 2 n being ugly still sound jus the same yee

  • What a great single. And the record sounds SPOTLESS.

I must admit, I now have turntable envy.

  • I'M HERE BECAUSE OF THE ''BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER'' EPISODE WITH THE SAME AS THIS SONG USED THIS SONG THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE!!!!

  • @PopCulture20 That is where I saw this song and have been listening to it ever since....probably saw the episode 6 months ago. And this is the best quality of any of the other places I've found. nice!

  • @PopCulture20 wow as buffy was out so long ago this feels like a huge coincidence, but me too! I'm watching all buffy ep's again and am on season 2, and watched that episode last night. Good song, but it was not made until 1959, so it wouldn't have been available in 1955, as in that episode.

  • @PopCulture20 I'm here because of the episode of Lois & Clark that played the same song on their (Almost) first date

  • the color of your skin didn't matter in 1959? lol. no great music nowadays? lol....

  • Classic songs like this one are forever, I'm 28 yrs old, and I rather hear this type of good music really loud, while I'm driving in my truck.

  • 'You hear those lows? Digital is bullshit' - Eddie, 'Nurse Jackie'. hm!

  • I HAVE OVER 100 ROCK AND ROLL 45 ORIGINALS JAMES BROWN, OTHERS IN MINT CONDITION MY COLLECTION FROM 1960 AND IN MINT CONDITION

  • and @everyone who "wishes they could go back to those times", are you all racist or something?

  • @jamesflaim wtf?

  • haha, this song sucks

  • @jamesflaim : So James, explain why. I think this song has a genuine atmosphere, interesting production and arrangement (great echoes) and is solidly written. Concerning it's age it has dated pretty good if you ask me.

  • @jamesflaim you are a maggot jackass.

  • Forget the equipment,How did you keep the record in such great shape?!!

  • @yakshasa The secret is plalying it only on quality turntables, this 45 has great sound quality, and has never been played, since purchased, on anything else.. I have a couple of copies of the original 45s on the jukeboxes, but this copy is played only on the quality transcription turntables to prevent any damage to the record. It has been played hundreds of times on this turntable and the Luxman PD-131 with the Magnetrac ton
