  • Also an interesting thought.

  • I dont know if someone mentioned this already, but dive man is weak to skull barrier because he doesnt like pirates. Cause he's a ship.

People also say skull man is weak to dust crusher because dust man is a vacuum, so its a ghostbusters reference.

  • That...that is one of the greatest explanations of robot master weaknesses I have ever heard. You have made my day.

  • @GeminiLaser For your credit, I love your explanation of Pharoah Man's weakness.

  • Why, thank you. :)

  • Your Videos Are AWESOME !!!!!!

  • 5:48 Egads he nudged em eyebrows as he fled. The douche!

  • You sir, are the world champion of Mega Man.

  • Thank you, thank you...I'm here all week... ;)

  • @GeminiLaser i just noticed that when it says that your comment was posted 1 week ago. does that mean your gone?

  • I usually check in once a day; once every few days if things are busy. I might not get around to answering everything immediately.

  • the end credits tune also was reused in another game but not a megaman game, I really hope it's the last one "borrowed"

  • Not in a Mega Man game? Which one?

  • @GeminiLaser I have mentioned the mane of the game in another video's comments list so it would serve no purpose mentioning it again

  • Possibly, but don't forget that I've received literally THOUSANDS of comments--it's not completely outside the realm of possibility for me to forget things here and there.

  • @GeminiLaser very well, but it was only about a couple of seconds when I posted the name so it's probably not a matter of forgetting it and more like not getting around to it. suffice it to say (try to ignore that I said that) that it was about the unnamed creator without originality

  • "♪ ♫ Bom-bom-bom-bom-bom-bom-bom-bom - FLASH! A-AAAH! Savior of the Universe ♫ ♪"

X'D Dude, you're nuts! Excellent way to show off, buddy.

  • Why, thank you--that was waaaay too much fun. :)

  • i actually noticed that MM4 is the first game were dr wily gets his own boss theme in the last battle! the first time i beat megaman4 it was epic and amazing, great game!

  • A drill bomb bit? Why, would that be a, drill bit? Anyone? Anyone?

  • I'm groaning...but I'm laughing. :)

  • Great job on the Mega Man videos! I was never a huge fan of MM4, but after watching your videos and playing through it again myself, I started to appreciate it a bit more. The weapon selection is one of the best in the series, and the challenge is just right. For me, the main drawback is its music. While not awful, compared to MM2 and MM3, it feels a bit uninspired.

I hope to see runs of MM7-MM10 in the future (although you can probably skip 8...I won't be offended.)

  • Thanks! And so glad I've had a positive impact on your view of MM4. ;) The game definitely has a bit of a different sound to it than MM2-3, but I still like it.

You can count on MM7 some time early-ish in the new year; I'm going to enjoy tearing apart MM8, and I've got plenty to do until MM9-10; check out my plan of attack for details!

  • @GeminiLaser I look forward to them! I must say that these videos are highly addictive. I love the humor, of course, but your use of special weapons is downright epic (as clearly demonstrated with MM5's Power Stone.) Keep up the good work!

  • yea i did see the smilly face on the machine gemim laser

  • Cool!

  • @ 5:06 sooo funny.

  • Yes! I've been waiting for that queen reference ever since you said flash in that voice! My wish is granted!

  • Ha HA! Excellent. :)

  • I SAW THE SMILEY FACE!!!! IT'S ON THE RIGHT IF YOU LOOK CLOSE ENOUGH!!! AND RIGHT NEXT TO MEGAMAN!!!

  • Mega Man 4 is the best mega man game ever!!!!!!!! The best video game is Mother 2.

Any way, Mega Man 4 is great.

  • Can't fault anybody for liking Mother 2. :)

  • @GemimiLaser Mega Man 4 is also my favorite Mega Man game! :D

  • Hooray! Another proud member of the Awesome People Who Love MM4 Club.

  • Maybe the reason why no one is suspicious about Wily's castle is because its public front is a theme park or something?

  • Diveman is also weak to Dush Crusher.

  • Your commentary is brilliant!! I've been watching a few of your vids this afternoon and I now have a real hunger to play some Megaman.

  • Awesome, and thank you! Glad I can make people hungry.

  • @GeminiLaser Epic Dr Claw voice!

  • Thank you! That took a little bit of practice (and it took a toll on my voice!).

  • @GeminiLaser I dont doubt it

  • If you think that this Toad Man is pathetic, then look at the Toad Man from Rockman 4 MI.

  • I think that Wily has just gotten so used to Mega Man defeating him that he just makes his forts explode into skull-shaped mushroom clouds in advance. That IS pretty classy.

Also, the "Flash" chorus was awesome.

  • Thanks--I'm happy how that turned out. :) I like your explanation as well--if you gotta go out, go out with class!

  • @GeminiLaser Exactly. :)

  • smily near wily

  • Your rhyming amuses me.

  • @GeminiLaser love the vid even though im a modern day kid the rhyming lives on

  • Who destroyed Wily's castle? or did he have a self destruct button. . .

  • I figure Wily had a self-destruct remote control in his pocket.

  • @GeminiLaser And i thought he wasn't prepared

  • FLASH! eat your heart out samus aran

  • Can you post the link and lyrics to your flash song? Pleeeeeease?!

  • There's not really much in the way of lyrics--just look up "Queen Flash Gordon Lyrics" and you'll find them. As for the link...once I'm done with MM6, a few sound clips might somehow become available...

  • "I surrende-OW!I surrend-OW!"

  • now that i think about it... when megaman teleports out, does he go out of the atmosphere, bounce off a satelite and appear wherever or something?

  • I wonder about that sometimes. I assume Dr. Light's got a satellite or two in orbit that facilitates teleportation, or else Mega Man appears in the sky for a moment, and then teleports in another direction before he starts falling.

  • @GeminiLaser i guess that clears it up a bit. still confusing but a more likely story.

  • i want your flash song please

  • I wonder if Samus heard that comment, he would come and punch you and Mega Man with 1 hit ko!

  • @Meleedftw Uh, Samus is a girl. 0.o

  • Shh!!! You'll ruin the secretest secret in video games!

  • @SuperRuudtendoES YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

  • Ha!

  • @GeminiLaser Ha ha!

  • lol 5:50 near to megaman smiley face :p

  • True!

  • i was laughing my as off at 5:28@

  • That's my favorite part!

  • @GeminiLaser mine too

  • You like skulls in general, don't you?

  • Actually, only in the Mega Man games. Otherwise, I like skulls just as much as the next guy.

  • I have one, and exactly one, significant problem with MM4: the damn game lags like hell on my system during certain points. It takes like 7 seconds for a boss's health meter to fill when he jumps onto the screen, as opposed to the ~3 sec in everyone else's vids. It gets really boring really fast. During the actual fight the game's speed is usually fine, but still...

  • Oh, wow--what are you using to play the game?

  • @GeminiLaser

An 8 Gig quad-core processor rig with a 1 Gig HD graphics card. So it's obviously the emulator, right? Well, the emulator is set to "synchronize to refresh rate" and maintains a steady 50 FPS. Never changing. But even setting it to "auto frame skip" doesn't change anything. Exact same result. My only guess is that I might actually have a PAL ROM...

    *compares UNSC and PAL settings*

...if it speed up at all, it was minuscule enough to not matter

  • Shyeah. My computer barely runs Minesweeper anymore; yours should have no trouble at all. Not that I'm any kind of an expert, but I'd guess it's got to do with the FPS settings. Maybe unsynchronize or mess around with different options? I'd also try a different emulator, and make sure your ROM isn't faulty. This is all guesswork, but it's what I'd try.

  • @GeminiLaser

I think it is a PAL rom, based on the "(E)" in the file name. My Castlevania 4 rom also has that in it's file name, and it runs slower than everyone else's as well. PAL roms, due to the different raster scans of PAL TV's, run 17.5% slower to avoid timing issues

  • Even so, what you described initially seems like the slowdown isn't consistent across the entire game. If it is a PAL ROM, then that might explain it.

  • @GeminiLaser

Totally was a PAL rom. Tried a new rom today, and while boss health bars still take twice as long to fill as the previous games (seriously, what the fuck? They filled FASTER in MM3 than the first 2), it was going much faster. And it maintained 60 FPS consistently

Taking out Bright Man buster only was a bitch... For the record, I only save stated in the checkpoint room

  • Did you know that you can press ↑↓ and jump without him reacting? Meaning you can slide near him without him moving for a free hit!

  • Interesting. You know what I really didn't know? That you could put up and down arrows in a YouTube comment. That's neat.

  • Indeed, Skull Man should just sit there with his shield forever and be impossible to defeat... so long as Mega Man doesn't discover that Ring Boomerang penetrates his shield and damages him. Pretty big design flaw if you ask me!

  • Wanna know something funny? I'm not sure I ever tried Ring Boomerang on Skull Man. I always used Rain Flush to get behind his shield! Duuuh.

  • Um, I dunno if somebody has already said this, but the intro of the game has Megaman on the train, like the end. Maybe that's what you were thinking...? Anyways, I love your Megaman runs and the games themselves, they always make me laugh. Graci!

  • I correct my mistake in a later video, I believe; I was thinking MM1 ends in Mega Man running on top of a train, when it's really just a sidewalk. Oops. And thank you!

  • Turbo Fire + Flash Stopper + Pharaoh Man = Awesome

  • I like the smiley nnearmegaman at the end. In the very last level of DarkVoid Zero They hid the Awsome face near the bottom of the level.

  • Neat!

  • I like what you did at the end of the game, too! XD "After a couple of fully-charged Pharoah Shots you kick his- Bum bumbumbumbumbumbum- FLASH! OH!" XD Man, how did you do that? Magic of whatever recording tool you used to record the audio and video?

  • I'm really happy you like that part. :D That took quite a while to perfect. I watched the music video for the original song on YouTube a BUNCH of times until the rhythm was stuck in my head, then I sang a measure or two of "bum bums" and put that on loop for consistency's sake. Then I recorded one of the "FLASH! Ah-ah!" lines and threw it on top, and then I kept re-recording the harmony until it sounded right and synched up with the timing. All in WaveLab light. Crude, time-consuming, but FUN.

  • @GeminiLaser And funny as all heck! XD

  • Yessss!! Today was my Mega Man Marathon! I beat MM 1-6 IN A ROW! ALL AT ONCE! So much fun and awesome! It's fawsum!!!

  • AWESOME FAWSUM. The first Mega Man marathon I remember was playing 1-6 in a row, and it was great fun. Congrats!

  • That was the best play threw. ever.

  • Thanks!! I had a great deal of fun doing this run.

  • @GeminiLaser lol i could tell, it was great an made me remember how much i use to love this game

  • acually, it IS possible to beat the wily wily machine with just the buster. that was how I beat him the first time.

  • I'm sorry for saying what you already know. I should've read throught the comments first.

  • Not to worry!

  • if you guys missed the smiley face machine pause at 5:55

  • FLASH!

  • Normally, I have a lot of trouble liking playthroughs because people's voices annoy me. But you have a natural "guide" voice, you're basically capable of holding people's attention.

I myself played through Mega Man 1, 2, 3 and 4 through the Wii Virtual Console. I'm not sure which of them is my favourite, though.

Will you ever be doing some Wii game playthroughs? I'd watch any Mario/Zelda/Metroid playthroughs. :P

  • Thank you! Lots of time spent in theater, plus a little bit of voice acting experience.

You should keep playing Mega Man games until you can decide which is your favorite. ;)

Aside from MM9-10, the chances of me doing a Wii game are between zilch and zippo. First, I'd need to buy new hardware to make recording possible; second, I'm not a big enough fan of any game on the Wii to warrant the headache. Except maybe Muramasa: The Demon Blade. That could be fun.

  • @GeminiLaser Heheh, voice acting huh?

I'll play MM5 when it gets released.

It's sad you won't do a Wii game. There's really a ton of great games on it, but gamers tend to not even give it the chance. Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Muramasa... they're just a few of the must-plays.

Ah, but do whatever you like.

  • Indeed!

Let me clarify--I own a Wii, but I bought it exclusively to play Mega Man 9 and Metroid Prime 3. There are other games like Mario Galaxy and LEGO Indiana Jones that I was interested in playing, but no more interested than anything else that's in my backlog right now. I'd just as soon do a game from a system that I can easily record on my computer. The biggest reason, however, is that I abhor the notion that every Wii game MUST have motion controls. It's controller or bust for me.

  • @GeminiLaser I see... that's too bad. It has tons of must-play games, especially for people who appreciate the classics.

I had no idea it was so difficult to record from a Wii, though. I guess that's because I never tried.

As for Motion Controls, well, they don't really bother me. A flick of the wrist on the occasion won't hurt me. :P And the best games tend to make little use of it.

Anyway, I'll quit bothering you about this. :P

  • Actually, I think the GameCube is better for people who appreciate the classics--after the novelty of 3-D wore off from the N64, the games became more about gameplay than gimmicks, which is a hallmark of the classics. The Wii has the Virtual Console, but I already own most of the games I'd play, so VC doesn't factor into my opinion of the system.

I don't mind motion control if it's integral to the gameplay, but I object to waving my arms around when a regular controller would work fine.

  • @GeminiLaser The Wii also has many awesome new installments of classic franchises, practically moreso than the GameCube, even if we don't consider the Virtual Console. It also has several remakes, if you count those.

Motion Control is not "integral" to the gameplay, it's a fun addition. People shouldn't even care about having to flick their wrist on the occasion so long as the game is awesome and the motion controls do not form an obstacle.

Anyway, sorry if I'm being annoying. :P

  • You're totally not being annoying. :)

I think the Wii has just as many installments of classic franchise as any other Nintendo system; it just depends what you're looking at. If we're talking Mario, then sure, there's a lot. But the GameCube had ridiculous amounts of Mario spinoffs like Mario Party and the sports games. Metroid has seen more representation on the GameCube, GBA, and DS. Same deal with Zelda, but on different systems. I could go on, but I'm running out of room.

  • @GeminiLaser Actually, Metroid also has the Metroid Prime Trilogy and will be getting Other M. Zelda will be getting Zelda Wii. It's normal for Nintendo franchises to not get a lot of installments in a short time.

My point is it has gotten a lot of attention, and is getting a lot of attention from Nintendo for the classic fans... a fact that spoiled fans often deny, sadly.

  • Concerning the motion control, "fun addition" would be if you had the option to use it instead of being forced. I may be in the minority, but I LOVED the controls for Metroid Prime 1-2, and waggling the Wiimote for MP3 made my aim suffer and my arm get tired after about 30 minutes. I have to sit up and exert arm muscles to play Wii games, whereas other games I can be a lazy lump and play for hours on end without getting worn out--for a relaxing pastime, video games have become too active for me.

  • @GeminiLaser I see. Even if you dislike the Motion Controls, though, they make no difference to me. I played the Metroid Prime Trilogy and I enjoyed it majorly, as did I any other big Wii game. Like I said, the great games don't require you to fling your arms like nuts.

You can just flick your wrist on the occasion. I hardly call that active.

I recommend that you actually play the many good games on Wii, and then you'll find out there's no problem.

  • My favorite games on the Wii so far are Muramasa and MM9. Granted, I haven't played too many, but I have yet to love anything with motion control. Could be a coincidence, though.

...Actually, WarioWare: Smooth Moves was pretty well done, but the Wiimote is totally necessary there.

  • @GeminiLaser I see. I'm not saying motion control is that fantastic, but the games I play are just so awesome I either forget about or don't care about the motion controls. Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Prime Trilogy, Brawl, and so on and so forth.

You should try some more. Consult some top lists to avoid the shovelware.

  • Thanks! Some of the most fun I have during the commentary portion comes from recording the musical interludes. The song for this game was tricky because I had to work out the timing to segue from commentary into singing "FLASH" at the right time, keep a steady tempo with the "bum bum bum"s, synchronize multiple layers of harmony, and figure out what the harmonies should be by listening to the first 20 seconds of the song, like, a few dozen times.

It was totally worth it. I had fun. :D

  • I've never played a Mega Man game besides The Power Battle, yet I still subscribed to you and watch your videos.

    Am I a bad person? :(

  • Not at all! See, at least you've played Mega Man. ;) Besides, The Power Battle is actually a pretty good way to get introduced to the series.

  • Love the Flash Gordon reference, that made my day.

  • That was really fun to put together; glad you liked it. :D

  • Hull rhymes with skull.....

  • Sure does!

  • That Ring Man run... aaaaaaaaaaaaaa

You can hit it with the Buster (charged shot) but you need to be lucky. I like the Gadget reference, too.

... that song part was weird and awesome at the same time.

  • I felt the same way about the song, but it was totally necessary.

  • @GeminiLaser I'm undecided. I'm just too conflicted!

On Toad Man... I like how they made him less useless, but still useless in MM4 (Gameboy).

  • Always go with the original. However, you might want to try the Mega Man game for the Game Gear... the boss fight against Toad Man is insanely different--he's an actual challenge!

  • @GeminiLaser I might end up playing through most, if not all Megaman games eventually.

Though "Toad Man" and "challenge" screams "oxymoron".

  • I've actually found that you -can- hit Wily Machine without using the Drill Bomb... just fire a fully-charged Mega Buster at the apex of your jump. Sure, it's a bit difficult, but it's possible.

  • Sorry to say, that's how I ended up beating Wily the first time I played. Didn't realize Drill Bomb had that feature. I also recall using Rush Coil and Rush Jet to help me get some height...

  • Wait a second, if skull man is number 32, and there were 3 other megaman games when this was released, and while 2 and 3 had 8 robot masters and megaman 1 only had 6, wouldn't that mean that two other robots just spontaneously dissapeared?

  • Excellent observation. In fact, the numbering system started with Dr. Light's robots, who went haywire and became the 6 bosses of MM1. Because Mega Man (Rock) and Roll are also Dr. Light's creations, they're your missing robots: #1 and #2, respectively. That's revealed at the end of MM3.

  • @GeminiLaser Oh right. Wonder why Protoman is #00 though? Probably because he was never finished, but that's just my theory.

  • Two thoughts on that one: First, Proto Man was the prototype, so he was more of a test model to see if a whole line of robots was going to work in the first place. Second, Capcom started numbering the bosses before they had any idea that Proto Man was going to be a character, so the 00 numbering was a sneaky solution to not retcon anything.

  • @GeminiLaser Yeah, that would make sense.

  • nice :P

  • it should be kool if he time stopped and megaman used crash man abilitiy and alot of explosive drills and when time goes bak boom overkill

  • Man, THAT would be a spectacle.

  • I noticed the smiley face next to megaman at the ending cutscene. I don't think u need me to say your not insane because u most likely already realized that you're AWESOME!

  • Ha! Why, thank you.

  • @GeminiLaser Don't mention it!

  • man, obviously you're a talented gamer but I have to say: all the other people on youtube who talk through their videos are boring, uninteresting, and have terribly dull voices. You come across with a great voice, clever, never boring or losing my interest and always having command of your subject. I could watch and listen to you play this whole game. Great job.

  • Wow; thanks so much!

It's funny; the only reason I started doing commentary was to give people a reason to stick with my video in case my playing ever got dull. I never imagined I'd start having so much fun with the commentary, let alone get the kind of positive response I've gotten from my viewers. Playing my favorite Mega Man game was a great boost to my enthusiasm, but owe a lot to the encouragement I've gotten from these comments. So, thank you!

  • MXC - "Don't get eliminated!!" XP Love that joke

  • your commentary is the best

  • Was that "I'll get you next time wily, next time" from inspector gadget. I finally figured it out I think. It sounded just like it.....minus the "Wily" part.

  • Bingo!

  • @GeminiLaser Well good job on the impression. Just don't ask me to try.

  • Interestingly enough, not only did MM4 introduce the Wily Capsule, but it's also the first entry where there is a unique final battle song. The previous games only used their castle boss themes, for the Wily battles. It's a good way to tell if you're fighting the final boss, or not.

Also, yes, I noticed that smiley. ;P

  • More reasons why I love MM4.

  • Whoa there was a smiley face there O_O

  • It's even better if you've been playing the game for years and never noticed it before.

  • Oh wow I loved this. Great commentary, you had me smiling all the way through and I'm so glad I was able to see all these cool features in megaman 4 that I'd always overlooked or didn't even know about. Thanks so much for doing these :D

  • Thank you; I'm glad to hear that! And you're welcome! I do this because it's fun, and it's always a pleasure to know that others enjoy what I do.

  • Nice Dr. Claw voice there. It's very spot-on. ;)

That said, I like how the climaxes of every NES MM game after the first one fools the players, when they think they've reached the end of the game (i.e. RM rematches followed by a Wily fight). Even MM6 did this.

Also, the "fake villains" also do this, to an extent. Fake villains are one of my favorite aspects, of the Classic MM series. :3

  • Thanks; it was rough on my voice, but it was lots of fun. Even when I started to expect that there was just a little something more, it was still fun to see exactly what false ending there'd be.

I remember very clearly the first time I first got to a set of teleporting hatches, and my head almost fell off my shoulders I was so surprised!

  • Well, I'm glad to hear that you got the privilege to be surprised by neat twists.

I, on the other hand, ended up having the plots spoiled for me, by the Nintendo Power strategies. I don't really mind it, though. The illustrations that the art department made for those look very good. :)

That said, another good reason why Dive Man is weak to Skull Man's weapon? Because tossing skulls at submarine windows would break them, I believe. ;P

  • I really like the Nintendo Power art for the Mega Man games. And I approve of your rationale.

  • *Subscribes* Seriously, you're so funny. XD And your voice is cool too :D

  • Cool; thank you!

  • Pharaoh Man's battle ftw, man! I'm rewatching all these videos (as you might have noticed) and commenting on the ones I forgot to on my first time watching them... Which turns out to be all of them D:

  • That battle took a loooong time to get to that point; I'm glad it turned out so well!

And hey, I'm excited that anybody's commenting on these videos at all, let alone rewatching them! It consistently makes my day to see that people are enjoying them.

  • Love your playthroughs, you're very entertaining, Why haven't you got more viewers, you kick butt!!
