I agree it does seem like there are more talented Asians than people from other other cultures. Again, I think it is the cultural difference. What we consider work and practice and what they do differs greatly. Asian children spend hours on homework each night.

How often do you practice? I try to do a couple hours a day. Sometimes its one hour, other days its 6. Today its none :-/...

Perhaps you need a new teacher as well. There is an INCREDIBLE piano book "Basic Principles In Piano Forte" by Joeseph Lhevinne. Get it, 50 pages long - will change your playing forever.

golliwogs cakewalk. I played that at 6 too. And about Asians being smarter: all children can pretty much learn to do anything you put in front of them. That's what's so beautiful about the young brain. People are not necessarily genetically programmed to be more intelligent.

In essence, children learn from their parents and tutors how to be talented, intelligent (or very stupid).
