French english accent is the best, I always try to prolong conversations with people who speak in that particular accent. I have quite a few friends who feel the same, which proves that I'm not the odd one out. ;)
No one in England would have a problem understanding your French accent. If anything they would most likely enjoy hearing a different accent to what they are used to. Also accents vary widely across the UK so even if you master one accent you will sound like an out of towner if you go to another area. Accents come with time and exposure and are not things you should focus on too much. Hope this helps.

Oh, and a note on French Fries and they are called that in America. I know that back before things were politically correct, random foreign titles were given to things to make them sound exotic as a marketing trick. For example, a non Chinese game with a rope is called Chinese jump rope. I imagine the same thing happened with French Fries, which were called probably French to make them sound more appealing since the French are often associated with their cuisine.

I can understand wanting to have a better accent in a foreign language though- I try to do the same in French. Listening to some of the boys in my French class speak French makes me cringe!
