not something a single shinigami can fight hahahahaha oh rukia you crack me up. You beat a gillian arrancar that had absorbed many other powers of hollows and, yet one simple gillian scares you. Goes to show how out of whack the power scales went in this series. Royal special affairs needed to deal with normal gillians. Don´t make me laugh. Though what I don´t get is that normal hollows can still be a problem in filler, while they have no problem killing gillians.

As far as I know, the first sword was borrowed shinigami status, not really his own. After training with Urahara he unlocked his real powers, i do recall Urahara mentioning that. Its all just speculation though.

I still like the first sword more than the second.

He's 'always' using his bankai vs espada and even then, from the eps I've seen (only on season 12) he doesn't always use hollowfication straight away. There's a massive difference between an espada and a gillion class menos.

Also, here he didn't destroy the gillion as you see people doing somewhat easily (captains/vice captains that is) in later episodes (e.g. when they enter the forest of menos), he merely drove it away. In light of that, I think it's all been written/drawn fine.

Don't know about chapters (the manga comic version I assume) since I've only read a few. However it's from the first season (Substitute Soul Reaper), somewhere between ep 10 and 17 i think. Sorry I can't be more accurate. It's after the Quincy challenges him to a dual and summons innumerable hollows to see who kills the most and prove if a Quincy is superior to a Soul Reaper

It should be pointed out that Kisuke Urahara KNEW about Ichigos powers even before he did. Since he knows his father Isshin then it's likely he knew that Ichigo was going to be forced to use his first Getsuga Tensho (Moon Fang Piercer of The Heavens) in his fight with that Menos.

When you see the Menos, mainly captain class Shinigami are fighting it. Ichigo and friends included. This isn't something a regular everyday Shinigami could face, is what it means. Characters get stronger throughout the anime, so eventually menos are nothing compared to the Espada. If no one could even kill a menos, Bleach would have been over by now.
